I’m glad I’m not the only one in the doomed relationship of Spurs + wharfs. I want Levy and Garlick both gone from respective clubs by the way!
Is there a more depressing, painful sporting duo to support than Freo and Spurs? Just a constant abusive relationship from both my football sides.

Levy out, Garlick out..

We really need a thread dedicated to our CEO and Board. They are truly the masters of our fate now and are more important and have more pressure on them than the players or the coach.
Yes. I don't know how the board works.
They are hand picked by the wafc bar 1 which is a little concerning..
Garlik seems like a nice guy, JL seems like a nice guy, AP seems like a nice guy.
All guys you would meet at a yoga retreat.
Caleb & Andy would be there too cleansing their shakras.
Where's is our hard edge coming from ??

I’m certain this is not a player/captain issue…it’s purely a coaching issue.

Once that’s been identified it’s all on Garlic and the Board to earn their coin and prestigious positions by showing strong leadership and making hard decisions when required, otherwise they are literally useless.

Who is our president?
I haven't heard **** all from him.

I am starting to think getting rid of Bell was more about protecting the incumbents.

or did Belly see something when Boyd and Murphy left?
The Bell situation is incredibly interesting, he was brought in at the tail end of the Lyon era and in an erratic, ugly period for the club. He then ended up in the coach's/coaches box and was even delivering messages to players at breaks.

Then he was shuffled sideways into various roles and then left.

It always felt like he was an outlier, like some sleeper cell or double agent.

Was he brought in to try and escalate some change and represent people who were not on the board, or was he a nuisance? People on this board are very torn but I'd love to know the story. He had both a massively hands on role while also being hugely ineffective, ultimately, and couldn't really wield any power.

Again, I would love to sit down over a beer with five or six people from that time and actually hear what the hell was going on. It would be fascinating.

I was under the assumption Belly had a big part in the Lachy Weller for Pick 2 trade that landed us Brayshaw?
Then again - I was always intregued by Belly - in his final years he was able to travel from Gero to play and was trusted to train alone? I thought that was a little egotistical.

I also had former University colleagues at the club at times when there was some controversy with the club e.g) the inappropriate behaviour at a club function to a female by one of the club's employees - I think we remember who.

I am a Belly fan, I always found the hate he got on here to be quite unfounded. Should have been a Norm Smith medalist and was a great player for us, heart and soul type. I'd just love to know his role, he seemed the inverse Bob Murphy in that he seemed to be involved in a lot of things that actually mattered while being similarly vague in role.

The last year he had was odd, especially given he went on to play a few years at Souths. The club had basically retired Shauny and had a drama with Haselby (he wanted two or three years, Dockers only offered one, Hase was threatening to go to Victoria). It was very weird.

The club function story should have been grounds to sack him but I imagine his pigheadedness would have seen him go down the suing route and the club would've been invovled in an ugly legal case.

You can pinpoint the issue with Carlton and guys like John Elliot who were embroiled in their own well publicised controversies in their business lives, but Fremantle seemingly have a lot of drama behind closed doors. Again, I'd love to hear what's happened.

So I guess everyone agrees now that Acres, Logue, and Schultz all made the correct decision to leave right?
Logue was offered insane money for a long term contract when North were basically trying to do anything to lure players over and to hit their salary floor. He was mostly shit for Fremantle. he's barely played.

Acres was a dumb get, another one of the 'let's get anyone from WA' era. Was both soft and a bully. Is shit at Carlton.

Schulz was given the lowest possible contract his whole time here, had an offer to go to the best team in the competition and be near his family and took it. It hurt. He was a heart and soul player.

  • The decision to extend JLo by one year right before the start of the 2024 season, and
  • The agreement for him to transition to ongoing employment right before the start of this season.

These both now appear to be signs of weak and ineffectual decision making.

The club is now faced with an enormous decision on how to manage a coaching change. Frankly, I have no confidence that they will get it right.

This is a massive fork in the road for the club’s future. Get it wrong, and we’ll remain an irrelevant basket case for at least the next 5 or 10 years.

That time ? They are all still there minus Bell.
The little fella is ruthless & wanted a flag.
Might have been the campaigner we needed now ?

Completely done with people using the “but we are young and inexperienced!” excuse. And yes it is an excuse.

They will wheel that one out repeatedly but they’ll never blame the list management that’s had us be one of the youngest and most inexperienced teams year after year. You have to go back to 2018 which was the last time we weren’t in the bottom 6 for age or experience. Incredible mismanagement to allow this to happen for 7 straight seasons.

Who would have thought bleeding established players every year and replacing them with rookies would have us being in a perpetual state of rebuild…

It’s almost like they just want a constant out to avoid holding the club responsible for anything. Nothing is ever the clubs fault. 30 years of mediocrity is all a conspiracy against us folks. I’m totally not a crackpot.

This is a semi-related vent. Don't know where to post this but I need to unburden myself somewhere.

The Kayo app is one of the most atrocious, unintuitive designs I've ever used. After years of having this ever-increasingly overpriced subscription, to this day I struggle to find where I can watch the game of footy I'm after.

The menus are impractical to navigate and once your found the match you're after, using timeline to go back and forward is something I wouldn't wish upon Bailey Banfield. - press the wrong button and you're back in the menu section.

If they just hired a semi-competent designer for a pittance in the context of the millions they make..

As a consumer.. Oh that's right, we don't have another option..

Pfft Spurs and Freo? Please

Try Everton.
Two team town. Port city. Lots of dockers there. Smaller team.
Team up the road is much more supported.
Win shit all the time.
Lord it over us.
We dislike them strongly but still get on - we are bothers after all.
We are a heart and soul club - the people’s club. No one really hates us like they do other clubs.

Both club supporters have a very us v them mentality to outsiders. City got cut off from the rest of England thanks to Thatcher and a whole can of worms of issues that make the city pretty anti royalist etc etc. Like the city of Liverpool - who see themselves as Scousers first, before even thinking about calling themselves english - we see ourselves as Freo fans first, then Perth - or better yet from Freo, then from WA then I guess a part of Australia?

Pretty sure Brad Lloyd was still the list manager during the Weller trade? There was footage of the 2 parties coming out of a meeting and our guy smiling from ear to ear and the GC list boss looking like he'd seen a ghost and don't recall it being Belly.

Agree with you re: commuting from Geraldton. Was on big money and told the club I need to plan for life after footy either I commute from Geraldton or retire and the club folded. From memory the Geraldton role didn't work out and he was soon back in Perth.

RTB after a few beers allegedly said to a female staffer who was pregnant "gee the milk has come in early". Obviously inappropriate but Ross has been around blokey footy clubs since the 80's when a comment like that wouldn't have been an issue.

You Scouse or from a Scouse family? Having Tranmere as an other team makes me think you are.
