We were never going to win when at times we had Lobb, Darcy and Meek all in the forward 25 and also when our half forward line was Switta, Colyer and Shultz. No matter how many times you kick sideways if you just end up bombing it in hoping for a mark it is never going to work and it clearly wasnt helped by Ratten's tactics of flooding every player into our F50.

I must be missing something with Brodie because I'm surprised by the hate for him.

I wasn't expecting much but he's been much better than I thought he'd be, and well and truly worth a spot in the team.

mate he can’t kick…like horrible.
and some of his ball handling with his hands is bordering on comical.

Teams have been doing this to us for years and we still haven't learned to deal with it. Compounded by the fact we have been very susceptible to getting caught out the back on fast breaks.

Would be nice to have a fast defender who can keep up with the opposition small forwards. * cough, Walker *

Well, this is the thread to be reactionary in, so I'm going to be reactionary! The lofty goals contained within the recently released "five year plan" are a pipe dream. Pure and simple!

When that saints player got out the back on hamling in the second quarter-what on earth was Clark doing-sitting back near the goal square -didn’t run at the saints player until the last second to apply pressure, could have easily pushed him deeper in the pocket or forced him to kick it from further out!!puzzling

After the Saints game I was quite resigned and deflated so I took a nap. I woke up a few hours later (like, 8:30) and couldn’t sleep for the rest of the night. Monday morning arrives and I’m cooked.

****ing Freo.

Our list is overrated.

We keep losing A graders.

We keep bringing in guys that cant get a game at their existing clubs.

Key players are always injured.

We keep playing B graders over developing the youth.

JL's game day coaching and team motivation seems poor.

Team selection often puzzling.

Its not fun watching your team fail to execute basic kicking, handball and marking skills.

We are bottom bottom 4.

watching Brodie reminded me of when Nancy in a Nightmare On Elm Street (original) was running up marshmallow stairs to escape Freddy (Fast Freddie!!). He is seriously lacking in leg speed

100% agree...Watched game again(Yeah I know)today and I can tell U Broadie had ONE good disposal...

Compared to him Blakely,Crowden look like champions-

Yeah I was screaming at my TV when I saw that. Higgins actually shimmied around Hamling and then ran across goal about 15m towards Clark to open up the angle.

He lined up to get on the end of a chain of congestion clearing handballs at one stage and before the words ‘why the f**k is Brodie the kicker’ could leave my mouth BOOM his kick was smothered. Even if it hadn’t been it was going straight down the line into a non-threatening area of the ground.

We lined out with the following at the weekend who were fringe/couldn’t get a game at their previous club:
Brodie
Acres
Clark
Aish
Colyer

Yeah - it’s too many for a team seven years into a rebuild. Clark is the only one what might be a future B22 player for freo when/if we ever get good, but you can see why the cats didn’t fancy him too and he has to improve aspects of his game. I know Brodie tried hard but Jesus it’s staggering to think he was a top 10 pick 6 years ago. WTF were the recruiters seeing in him?

I reckon Clark is just a bit kamikaze and every now and again he'll do what he did, it's like a warts and all thing, we'll have to take the rough with the smooth - hopefully he'll iron out those rush-of-blood creases when he fired the ball up the middle straight into Saints hands. Perhaps he was confused and mistook them for Dockers, but it was bizarre. Aside from that, I thought he went okay for game 2. Not brilliant, not shitful. Same with Young, he'll frustrate when he turns the ball over because expectation is his kicking is his weapon....but what I noticed with Young was just how strong he looked in the contest and bodywise, great Intercepting and contesting marking.....he'll be excellent soon enough. I'd prefer Clark on the wing, maybe even Young in the middle....they have attacking weapons we could do with forward of centre and Walker and Wilson could easily take their place in the backline.

Oops, forgot this was the vent thread...THEY'RE ALL F***ING SPUDS!! There, that better?!

Lobb vs [PLAYERCARD]Hugh Dixon[/PLAYERCARD]/Meek.
If it wasn't for his 2 goals, Lobb would've been easily put played by these two yesterday. No way is he performing to what we need him to be.
Dixon played the identical role for WC (Forward/2nd ruck) and was easily as effective around the ground as Lobb.
Lobb is average at best.

Sorry, but this is a shit post.

Lobb played one quiet game, but was good in the previous two. Dixon did nothing, Lobb kicked two and could've had 3. People will grill Lobb because he asked for a trade, so it'll be a weekly thing, but so far he's been good this season

It's not a shit post at all. Of the 3 players, one has played 120 games, one 12 and one 3. I'm not saying Lobb was bad, just that he's a very average player (which he is) who compares almost exactly with 2 players many would refer to as 'shit'.

Lobb's first two games were very good, you can't disregard them because they're inconvenient to your point. He compares to Dixon in his worst game for the year, yeh go figure. That's not a brilliant take.

I know Lobb bashing is in fashion but when Naitanui was dominating us at the start of the third, a tactical change was made to send Lobb to the ruck, he evened the contest and rucked quite a bit more in the 2nd half.

Noticed this immediately at the ground, the tactic worked well as NN was crushing Meek to start that 3rd
