There was a time when Walters kicked goals. Now I'm bronx cheering when he gets a kick of any sort.

No need to panic yet... but that time is near approaching as Bombers are and were appalling and we couldn't make them pay.

who's cuddles. literally never heard the term.

Cuddles is Chris Connolly. Never heard that? Were you around during the Connolly years? I must be too old.

Too many players are not AFL quality. Over a decade of terrible recruiting produces results like this. When the elite older players retire we will give Drum’s teams a run for their money

It’s more like a 6 year period of poor drafting and trading that we’re paying for now and will for a few years yet, but you’re right about us having too many players that aren’t AFL quality.

born in 1997, so i was but i was quite young. I do go and re-watch a lot of old matches. connolly era was by far freo's most entertaining side.
Seeing a young pav, mcpharlin, sandi, mundy, johnson plus the wiz in one side was a delight.
I'm getting way off track now. what side filled full of fundamentally brilliant players but somehow a lot had huge flaws. hash tag most dockery side of all time.

WE WERE DOING GREAT UNTIL YOU WERE BORN!!!

It's always been like that, youngster.

Also, try not to dig too deep when watching old matches, wouldn't wish insanity on anyone.

Born 97? JFC

Hang on, are you saying born in 97 is young or old? If you think it's young, weren't the 90's great?

I don't mean great for the Dockers, I mean as a great party going era. Or perhaps I was just as THAT age then.

Weird age really not really a true gen z and not really a millennial.

:D Born in 78, sort of in a crevice. We are nowhere people, Cousins born in the same year. Some can't cope with the crevice.

Time for me to take a break.

Week after week. Season after season. Nothing but disappointment. Even the years we were successful we played boring footy and choked when we finally got there.
Looking at the teams ahead it makes you wonder if we’ll even be close in the next decade.
Our drafting has historically been crap, no big names ever want to come here and when they do we sell the farm and they’re drug f**ked and/or injury prone

I’ve spent 85% of my life supporting this club and we’re no closer now than 20 years ago.
It tears my mental health to bits every weekend. Can’t do it anymore

I quite like it. I remember a time before facebook, phones and other stuff. That stuff came in when i was 13. literally overnight, nobody had that stuff, came to high school and everyone did. It was all kind of surreal. But i also got many of the tech and cultural benefits you get from growing up with tech.

Yeah happened to me too after the derby , feels like I'm just watching out of habit

I still like footy though so at least the campaigners haven't totally destroyed my love of the game but I'm only going to go to watch Peel or Souths now , least you don't feel like you're just a customer at the WAFL

We have nobody up forward to help Taberner, he's doing a one man job up there, kicked half of our goals today. He can't do it all on his own. Lobb is supposed to be our 2nd tall target and he realistically should be kicking 2-3 goals a game, but he's not. Our smalls need to be doing more, Walters needs to get back to his 50 goals a season form that he's shown plenty of in his career. Switkowski and Henry need to start booting them too.

I’m slightly concerned we messed up our rebuild.

I think having a coach in their final years of a contract doesn’t help. We should have gone all-in at the draft between 17-19.

Regardless of the obvious Hogan debacle - Aish, Lobb, Matera, McCarthy, Wilson, Acres, Colyer didn’t (or currently don’t) add quality to the team. I see them getting in the way of developing our younger players.

I know they seemed ‘cheap’ but they involved multiple second rounders, first rounders being pushed back, or other later picks where we could have had the rolled the dice.

Just go to the draft and keep going to the draft ffs. It’s exactly the same at Carlton. They tried to be too ‘cute’ picking up players through ‘cheap’ trades or free agency. It means players come in on inflated wages and they don’t play as a team.

Just commit to the draft and build a culture through our youth.

I’m starting to get sick of supporting this club. Don’t know why I bother waking up at 4am for this!

Don't worry, our rebuild isn't done. We have another 3 years or so of it I'd say.

Drafting was buggered all the way back in 2010 when they passed on Darling. Suited an obvious need we still haven’t really filled. As well as Taberner has performed in the end, he’s no Pav and would be better with help.

After the Josh Simpson debacle the recruitment team should have been sacked. As it stands Brad Lloyd was no loss and Carlton haven’t seen any benefit from him. A lot of complacency crept into the club during the good run of the early Lyon years, and we’ve paid for it ever since.
