Do you think we are winning a cup in 3 years time? Lack of key forwards tells me no way.
5 years from now takes us to 2026/7 putting the year 16/17 draftees late 20,s early 30,s
.

Probability leans towards no tbh. A freak KPF taken with an early selection could change all that and long as we get enough of the rest right.

I just don’t want any attempted short cuts for KPF options. It has never ended well for us.

this and injuries are basically our two biggest issues currently. Sort those two and most other things correct themselves. Got taken to the WC games yesterday. Personally I thought they were average outside F50 but when it came in it was nearly always marked and just about every shot went through the big sticks. Any momentum Adelaide had quickly dissipated. Every miss (that Freo players make) keeps the opponent in it.
Hard to overstate the destructive effect of injuries to elite young talent on list building.
The following players should all have played this amount of games by now.
Sturt - 4 games played, should be on about 22 games by now plus another dozen WAFL games in his first season.
Logue - 30 odd games played, should have played 55 or 60 by now plus a year of WAFL to start.
Young - about 8 games played, should be up at 20 played by now, chance of getting another 5 or 6 this year though so maybe not as bad.
Chapman - about 5 game of senior footy at all levels in his first season and no more till March 2022.
Valente - pretty much missed two seasons of senior football. Not played a game at AFL level, if he hadn’t been injured would have probably have had 10 games at least by now, at the halfway point of his third year.

Frederick missing the rest of the season is another big negative because he’s not as natural footy player as say, Serong, and so would really improve his footy smarts by playing even at WAFL level but it’s season over too. 😥
I get that covid didn’t help last year for players in the seconds. But these are potential elite players missing massive chunks of footy at a crucial development stage when 18-20. It’s just depressing.

After being a foundation member and suffering 20plus years of mediocrity I decided that I now require KPIs from the club and team.
All I wanted to see was measurable improvement.

1. An end to embarrassing defeats. You know the ones where you are just want to hide on Monday. Well we had 2 of those in the first 7 games

2. We beat bottom teams away from home.
We beat Adelaide in SA - tick
Of course Carlton and Essendon more than cancel that out

3. Win 11 to 13 games. Finish 10 to 8. Now looks very unlikely

looks like I’m out

Walters has been poor for years.
This is the vent thread so I guess vent away but that is categorically untrue. He was in most pundit AA teams after about 5 rounds last year, he was All Australian the year before that. He has been ‘not-Walters’ for at most a year and about 3 games

I've written about club KPIs previously - I would really love to know how we are measured (apart from win-loss). Surely we would have KPIs such as win 1 Derby per year, make finals etc.

I've never understood the phrase "Accepting mediocrity" We've all expressed our anger at the club and shown how frustrated we are, crowd numbers continue to go down for us, more fans are moving on. I don't exactly know what else we can do?
I will explain what i mean. When the club re signed RTB to our years of rebuilding. Accepting we were going to be bottom and doing nothing to change that. Our footy departments strength and conditioning Jason weber was it ? , Our Trading has been diabolical. Yes we have had some good years Getting pick 2 for I am pointing the finger at you. I hate to use Wet Toast and Geelong as examples but how often do you seen them in the bottom 7 year after year. I get the fact after 2015 season no one expected our fall to be so dramatic go from preliminary finalist to losing our first 10 in season 2016.We haven't improved. We are very likely headed for another bottom 7 finish and will use my line of accepting mediocrity as it's ok. It's not ok. I agree with what you have said re membership and fans coming to games. People want to watch winners and we have done far too much losing

Will reply here mate eventually. Just give me a few days.

I came across this on the scum board the other day and because it summed us up so accurately I wanted to share with my fellow sufferers...

So what are you saying we need to be better fans?
Better Campaigners?
Demand better?
Off field leaders create success,
which creates bandwagoners.
Simply we suck at management.

Speaking of the scum.. do you know what the definition of irony is..??? John "Teflon" Worsfolds' new job title in the mining industry. Check it out

Absolute joke.

Set up a recruitment department in Perth as our focus, seems to be on Vic players and we seem to skim over a hell of a lot of local talent. It is more important than ever to look in our backyard. It is cheaper to retain in the long run and you dont get the Cerra situation as we seem to get every year. Of course, we should always recruit best available but ive seen some good ones that are better than our best available go begging, especially in positions of need.

I was just having this convo with the Mrs on this subject tonight. Picks like Naughton and English are arguably playing as well as our picks and they are in our glaring needs spots, plus they appear relatively healthy. They would've been worth taking at our picks.

On the other hand, the same mentality could lead to drafting the dud local, which if Devon Robertson doesn't claim a regular b22 in the medium turn, might justify thinking outside WA.

I wonder how obvious Naughton and English we're thought as, in terms of "making it", as draft juniors? We have to lean towards taking WA blokes at the top end more often than not imo and if they looked good to take the leap to excel, they might've been better selections to be taken earlier.

Disclaimer: I love our current draft picks and I think a lot of them have great potential to be b22 or much better. :)

How about you don't share in future? Do you think anyone gives a shit what eagles supporters think of us?

eagles supporters are just gloryhunters who jump on because the club is successful and then try to delude themselves that they cause that success.

I agree with your second paragraph

And, if Cerra takes off back to Melbourne I’ll be really pissed, we could of taken Naughton with his pick.

Don’t kid yourself into think some fat pleb Eagles fans hiding behind a keyboard on big footy are somehow partly responsible for their relatively greater success than freo over the years. Coz they are not.

Disagree. His staging for free kicks began more than 12 months ago and it ruined his game.
