I was headed here anyway but this fast tracked me and I want to stay on an even keel .
Having rewatched the game there are many passages of play where we butchered the ball under no pressure which resulted in turnovers , had GWS capitalised there wouldn’t be much to celebrate.
The free kick count flattered us but they were definitely there albeit soft a lot of them .
Having also been on the other end of a murderous run of free kicks against our team I can say with conviction that GWS did not know whether they were Arthur or Martha in that last quarter and we just had our way with them.
Take the 4 points but jeez this side will be lucky to make the 8 if they don’t tighten up on some of that scrappy shit .

( Meanwhile over on the positivity thread ……… there are some very positive signs 😁)
 
Someone on the positivity thread pointed out that we kicked more goals than points. This is probably the more appropriate thread to point out that we had at least 2 gettable shots not make the distance, and 2 shot out on the full.
 
I hope I'm wrong but I'm not as positive as some of the crew on here. I watched the first three quarters live but was busy for the fourth. I've since caught up on the last quarter and was expecting champagne football as I knew we kicked 6 goals straight. We were super lucky with a lot of them tbh (including umpiring decisions).

It's refreshing that we're competitive while being very young but still think we're a year or two away from matching it with the big boys. We need to sort out our forward line quick smart. The last quarter is papering over the cracks. We need more from Tabs and we need another medium tall type to assist (for example Sturt). I hate being negative but we still have work to do. There were definitely some positives (the backline, the mids matching it with GWS, and the transition from defence in the fourth) but we have to sort the forward line asap.

The AFL treating the whole of the WAFL competition as a perpetual organ farm absolutely shits me to tears. Yes it's good for the players to get opportunity that wouldn't otherwise, but jeopardising the integrity of the whole comp can get in the bin.

Not looking to debate the merits of the top up situation, I just want to shout into the void.
