Amiss not getting a RS nom yet is ******* bullshit. He’s kicked 16 goals already and will probably end up with 35 by seasons end but can’t even get a nomination?
If he kicks 40 goals he should be in the running to outright win it, let alone get a nomination. 😡😡😡

Weddle's stats look good, however it's easy to rack it up against the Eagles. Amiss' 3 clutch goals against the reigning premiers should have been rewarded.

As soon as he gets nominated, he will get tagged more. Might be better off not having some arrogant teams notice him yet?

How does a full forward get tagged?

Not sure if you have played the game before but tagging a full forward doesn't make sense when all backs naturally man up on forwards. Lol

Treacy is no good.

All hustle and bustle, no craft, poor hands and gets by on defensive pressure and presence.

He'll be the kid who looks a million bucks at WAFL level, but never makes it as an AFL forward.

Unfortunately, the backline is stacked, but he'd be a force on the last line matching it with Gorilla forwards.

I'd like to see him switched with the laconic, but infinitely more talented Cox.

Won't happen though...

I guess this is more of an observation than a vent.
I feel like we’ve been pretty spoilt by the production team at Optus with their pre-game and ongoing entertainment - the way they introduce our players etc
We have always been sold the idea of just how ‘amazing’ a game at the MCG is.
The pre-match presentation for the Fremantle/Melbourne game was almost a non event. I felt like it was a practice for the real thing.
Maybe it helped our boys because there really wasn’t that much atmosphere for the entire game.
I haven’t been to a game at the MCG since Collingwood flogged us 8 years ago. I don’t recall the atmosphere being THAT dull.
It’s great the boys had an MCG experience, but I feel like what they get at Optus each home fixture prepares them more for finals footy.

Doesn’t help that they’re playing Melbourne there. Their fans are useless.

In a somewhat related note, at the Freo swans game a couple of weeks ago I noticed there was no banner. Do they not do a banner for away games or was this a one off.

Agreed though the atmosphere and GameDay stuff at Optus is electric compared to elsewhere.

I cringe at the Port 'anthem' but at least they have something...

Geelong didn't have a banner when they were playing us at Optus a few weeks ago either. Probably just a logistsics thing

Several factors at play here.
  • Melbourne are one of the smaller vic clubs. Have always struggled to attract big numbers. Only saints and north would have smaller crowds here
  • the G with 70% empty is still a great place to watch sport and if Optus only had 18,000 fans in it would be not much different.
  • Melbourne are only interested in making a big deal pre game for their own team and fans. You are correct they don’t do a great job though.
  • freo are considered a very small and insignificant team in the minds of VFL people.
  • Melbourne fans are mainly old, rich polite people, that are very satisfied with life. I go to lots of games and they are one of the last passionate fanbases in Vic.
  • the didnt even boo Jacko properly! If it was the pies or Carlton it would have been relentless all game.
  • the noise and atmosphere last sept for freo v collingwood at the MCG with 92,000 fans in attendance was special. That’s what you need to get to!

Yes I agree with this. I found it an anticlimax.
The general football fan public are different though. Everywhere I went walking around in my Dockers gear, I was greeted with well wishers and friendly comments in support.
The Victorian people are amazing and friendly and keen to help with info.
I thoroughly enjoyed my footy weekend in Melbourne.

Yes, us victorians will always help an interstate person, we would love to have any of you come to live with us.

As for the melbourne supporters, its true what they say, Melbourne fans are at the ski fields at this time of year, they just dont show up

They lost a generation of supporters between 2007-2017 for being a complete basketcase.
There's something in this. When I was a kid in Melbourne half my mates' parents went for Melbourne, they were Barassi's team that was always competitive. Three to four decades of being irrelevant simply hollowed out their fan base.
