He's just being judged on a whole other level than everyone else because people are still clinging onto the hope that he can be what he showed in his first game. He's 23 years old in his 5th year. Frederick was dogshit yesterday but he's played plenty of games before to show his worth to the team. Sturt has shown very little in his 5 games this year. Occasional flashes and then goes missing for the next 90 mins.
Ok ....., but I was simply disputing that you said that he did only two good things all game. How can you talk of others judging him on a whole other level when that's exactly what you've done, just in reverse. He clearly did more than what you judged him to have done.

Ok let me rephrase. I was at the game and I only noticed him twice during the game. The only other times I noticed him was when he was unsuccessfuly trying to chase a player and was a good 10-15 meters behind.

The Walters sub thing is so frustrating. I swear since that bloody sub rule came in it’s just handed conservative coaches like JL an even bigger excuse to sit on the fence at selection time.

Let’s be clear on some things here
- Walters is either fit or he’s not. He had a calf injury. Now, his calf has not just “healed” enough to play one and a half quarters, but not 4.
If he was fit to play a quarter, he was fit to play 4.

Of all the things to vent about this season, surely our injury management is above reproach?

We've never had such a sustained good run with injury in our entire history as we have since Merriman came on board, I'm willing to back that he knows what he's doing.

* off collingwood you absolute w***ers.

The brass balls of these entitled maggots thinking oh freo don’t matter they can play at marvel. Go Fcuk yourselves pies.
Gosh I’d love it, absolutely love it if we beat them now

Rob us of our miniscule MCG appearances? **** right off Collingwood.

I want to vent about fair-weather supporters (literally). We were losing badly, we fought back, we just didn't cross the finish line in front. Stop kicking our players in the guts, after their brave performance at the MCG recently.

Name names... or is this just a pot shot at posters who passionately support the club and have voiced opinions on a board that is for posters to voice their opinions

Smart play for mine. I’ve struggled with Achilles for years. You end up having to manage it as best as possible. It obviously got to a point a couple of weeks ago where he had to miss. Gradually building up is a good approach. I would have liked to see him injected a bit earlier though. Even pull the trigger at half time. Banfield had one possession. I would have liked a more risk taking approach to inject him earlier. The risk being an injury to a player in the chosen 22.

It was a calf injury I thought? The Achilles was several weeks ago.
Look I know that Walters is getting older and estibador has a point but I read Merriman say today that Walters did extra running around Optus at the end of the game to hit his target load. Surely he should have been on the park at HT then? It clearly was not because he was limited to what he could do. If you have a calf strain, you are either injured or not. Soft tissue injuries heal and then you are good to go, if they don’t fully heal and you can’t run at full speed. There’s no inbetween. Xavier Ellis said the same thing today on the HBG pod.
We were crying out for some class in attack.

I agree with you on half time and that is what I said in my post.

Controlled running in a straight line as opposed game simulated stopping, starting, jumping, sprinting, changing direction, being tackled from the side etc.

I’m not being facetious, but you do realise the Achilles attaches to the calf muscle.

When mine gets really bad the Physio basically works entirely on my calf.

Been looking at our first quarters and does anyone think we should be getting a 25% discount off our memberships

Let’s face it the team doesn’t arrive until quarter time.

Our poor first quarters are no longer an anomaly but are a real problem.

We lost the game against Richmond in the first quarter last weekend and make it harder for ourselves most games by giving the opposition a head start.

We need to fix this major glitch in our game to become a serious finals side.

Do we have anyone to fire up the boys in the locker rooms before the game? Pearce and JLo are mellow and not very vocal characters. Brashaw is in the same mould. We really need our leaders to fire the boys up. This is why I want Serong as captain.

Is it a motivation thing or is it not making the most of early chances? We had like 9 of the first 10 i50s or something like that against Richmond. The ball was stuck in our half for like the first 10-15 minutes (count up clock). We make 2 or 3 of those shots and all of a sudden we've started fast and have momentum to carry throughout the game. Miss 4 shots in a row, and Richmond go straight down the other end and kick a couple and all of a sudden all that work counts for nothing and we're playing catch up again. I'd say it's an in game mental thing rather than a pre game mental thing.

You are isolating the Richmond game though, has been a problem for most of our games this year.

I reckon you've nailed it - we need some angry bastards. They don't have to rant and rave all the time, everyone just has to know it can burst out at anytime, some seriously scary intent...
