Pathetic mgt, and coaching by the brains trust, and I use those words advisedly.
So many players leave the Dockers and get better, or get more cred!
You watch Henry become a Bobby Hill or a Motlop.
Pretty sure it's in Liam's interest to leave Freo, he'll be way better off

We give up players every single ******* year to other clubs then those players go on to do clutch things in final, who the * is managing our list management, surely AFL is paying Freo to stay mediocre for life
Plenty to indicate Acres was highly reluctant to even come here in the first place, so (combined with Young's machinations) there wasn't much preventing him leaving at the first excuse/opportunity.

It is probably more of a concern that we couldn't attract Jack Martin when he jumped from Gold Coast. He's so dangerous.

How do you explain Cerra then? That was diabolical as well
Cerra was a reluctant recruit as well.

Blame and holding on to the past with recriminations is worse than useless. It's distracting.

As far as I see it, much more relevant is the cumulative of the comings and goings.

Are we taking the extra steps to create ongoing and compelling environment, where it's very hard to leave and very attractive to come to?

Maybe I wasn’t watching closely enough but Henry didn’t have a massive impact on our performance this year IMO. He moves well and runs hard but struggles to kick 40m and kicks for goal like a defender. Let him go build his insta profile and sell his ties in Melbourne. I’d say Perth culture has more to do with his decision than Dockers culture.
Ok back to venting now.

Each individual case will have their reasons. It's a near impossible task to stop unwanted player movement (from or to).

"Are we doing enough to minimise the froms and maximise the tos?" is the question.

(Yes watching closely Henry was a smart wing, ran good lines, clean pick/mop up, and more attacking in options taken when there. But not so much this year it's more his potential.)

True, but there is a lot of potential coming off him now a galvanized 22 player already.
Look at his trajectory. If he keeps working on his weaknesses he will continue to improve.

Liam Henry selecting a team like he is some entitled superstar.. I hope you get stuck in the seconds.
Haha reminds me when lebron announced he was joining Miami Heat on live TV.

Liam: This spring, I’ll be taking my talents to Bayside in Melbourne to join the St Kilda football club.

I’m actually happy seeing Hogan playing good football. He’s obviously someone who’s had some adversity & suffers from mental demons.
I was really disappointed when we let him go after leaving him in the WAFL when he finally got fit.
It always seemed to me like he was worth persisting with but who knows what was happening internally at the club & whether he could have settled properly here with all the distractions he seemed to have around being in Perth & the merciless attention of the Eagles media propaganda and their treatment of any of our players versus the coverups they do for their own. Still think it’s hilarious “free Willy” left after they put so much work into rehabilitation of his reputation.

I’m getting angrier all the time thinking about Henry. We’ve got such a dedicated young group & he was really contributing nicely in the wing role & now we have to start from scratch again building our wings. So crucial to our system & we just keep losing good players in that role.

Hogan and Acres have never bad mouthed the club before, I don't see any reason to give them grief. Cerra having a sook and going home is worth a vent though, Cerra and Neale are the only valid ones worth venting about still in finals.

God finals is depressing this year. So many ugly narratives for freo, know less hogan playi g with passion for the most manufactured club in the league.
Unfortunately we just couldn't wait until Hogan finally grew up....the onus was always on him to actually act like an adult which he was unable to do until about the last 18 months.

We don't have Amiss without Cerra leaving so I'm thankful he had a bit of a sook and left. We made well out of it. Neale, Acres, Hogan we lost for absolute **** all so I hate that they're out there helping their new clubs make finals.

It's just infuriating that we played him in so many games when he clearly wasnt ready and sacrificed team performance to get him to where he is now. We could have been developing someone else who actually has the teams needs in mind and genuine heart.
He's a piece of shit.

Query here.

What is the average turnover in players at Vic based clubs ?. Do most trade out a player or two each season.
Turnover is kinda meaningless. Every club turns over players, many of whom they don’t any anyway.
Losing players you don’t want to lose is a more accurate stat and is harder to measure.
I’d safely say we are near the top of that particular ladder in recent years apart from GC and GWS

If any of the players we got rid of want to be angry at the club it's Hogan and Acres too. They were pretty much forced out and would both make us a better side right now.
If Hogan stayed there is a possibility that some of the other guys would have left
He seemed like a bad egg
I think the club did the right thing

Acres was a bad call though , should have been encouraged to stay , unless he actually did want to leave ?
