So true that a team of former Freo players would make a solid side. And after all this Freo still have their unrealistic grand final timetable…when we can’t even make the top eight.

5 Year Strategic plans are the most laughable things in sport.

How about instead of talking just actioning and getting the job done.

Who pays the price if we don't win a flag by 2025.

Garlick, Longmuir, Bell.

Surely one of them has failed a KPI.

Totally agree, and it gives the perfect excuse to be crap in the interim. Here's a thought, why not try to win the flag next year instead of in 5 years time. And if that doesn't work, try to win it the year after. All this club does is sells us 'hope' for 'the future'. They don't ever seem to want to be good 'now'.

There is clearly something very wrong at Fremantle.
Sure, all clubs lose players, but the rate at which Freo is losing quality players is more than concerning.
A lack of natural development in 2nd tier players is also alarming.
It would appear as though Longmuir isn't going to be an elite level coach, and securing one is increasingly difficult. The loss of [PLAYERCARD]Josh Carr[/PLAYERCARD] is telling. Contracting Fyfe for 2 years is dangerous.
So again Freo start the merry-go-round with losing quality players and have to develop players, who must be kept.

Oh, and what is it exactly Bob Murphy gets paid for, good bloke vibes?

Ironically we’ve had more players leave in the two years since Bob Murphy joined than in the 8/9 years before he joined. Really great for a guy bought in to improve our culture

Josh Carr boned us and he was never gonna stick around. He’s a South Australian now for all intents and purposes.
As for Fyfe, there are exceptions you make sometimes and the bloke earned his extension if for nothing else but for a little happiness and respect he got us from the football world. You don’t discard champions like that and there’s still hope that he plays next season and that’s a risk I would be willing to take. Even 50% capacity Fyfe is still a ****en beast

Fyfe is broken. A broken warrior, and he indeed was that. He will struggle to play another 10 games. A year with a trigger out of respect? Maybe, but 2 flat is a poor list management move. IMO.

Didn't make sense at the time, looks even worse now. His body is completely cooked and has been for the past three seasons. Even when he was playing this year there was maybe one quarter vs Geelong where he actually had any impact on the result. That 400k should be going to someone else. He needs to do the unselfish thing and call time.

You're right, AFL wouldn't want us to win s**t. As long as we making money and are self sufficient, probably the last team they want winning a flag.

******* hate it. Fold the ******* joint.
It's all about one thing - cash money.

Heartland = Victoria, so the AFL have an interest in their success as that's their biggest market nationally. "The league is better when [INSERT VICTORIAN CLUB] is doing well", and so on. You can also sell the history & romance angle with Victorian teams - exhibit A being the father-son rule.

NSW & Qld clubs - AFL have invested heavily in them to win market share in rugba leeg territory, so want flags as a ROI. Will be similar with Tassie.

Weags & Crom have majority of support in WA & SA markets, so them doing well means more $$$ for AFL.

Port aligned themselves with arguably the largest state club outside of Victoria, and are self-owned so are more self sufficient.

That leaves us. As opposed to all other clubs outside of Victoria, we aren't an expansion team. We were created to limit the success of another team that was threatening the Heartland. We are owned by the same organisation that own the Weags, who again have majority of support in the WA market and are the cash cow that the WAFC wish to protect.

So that leaves us as a minority player in a market that the AFL doesn't need effort to maintain or grow, with an owner who are more concerned about the success of a direct competitor.

Finally got around to seeing the 'Four Corners Homophobia in AFL' yesterday and I gotta say Bob Murphy is a real piece of work.

Obviously he has some perceived internalised homophobia for which he feels he needs repentance, that's irrational but understandable.

Remarkably though, him needing players to wear a sign of identification of their immutable characteristics for him to be comfortable is the most ironic lack of insight. By announcing that he wants a gay player on his team is the kind of prejudice that he's ostensibly wanting to stamp out - unwittingly creating more division through his fixation of eliminating it - truly pathological.

As someone previously mentioned - we've had more players leave in the past two years since his perplexing role of "senior nice guy in charge of changing the culture" than in the previous eight combined.

Bob Murphy is reportedly bonking every second middle aged woman living in South Fremantle that is bored with her husband and thinks some bloke that can quote a few lines of William Wordsworth to her is the romantic intellectual she's craved her whole life. If the rumours are true I'm surprised he has time to think about anything else, let alone player welfare.

Oh dear, that was a miserable read and made me feel rather despondent.

The main reason it makes me feel so bad is because it is so, so true.

can confirm, every so-called 'neutral' Victorian here wanted a Blues v Pies GF and I'm so f glad we didn't get it.

Yup.

Imagine winning a GF though. Whoever is captain is giving the post-game speech.

"I'd like to thank the club, the players, the sponsors and particularly the members & fans for sticking with us through all the crap we've put up with. Commiserations to our opponents today, you had a good run etc. Commiserations also to the AFL and its pack of media jackals, we won this in spite of you and you can go f*ck yourselves" [mic drop]

I don't know how we're going to work this, perhaps some form of orderly queue and traffic diversion system, but I'll put my hand up to look after the ones Bob is skipping.
