I feel the 2 big changes in the AFL the last few years has been the stand rule and allowing people to run out from kick ins. Both are designed to move the game on quicker by foot. Hawthorn got the memo but for some reason we hold things up by foot or try a handball happy game with a bunch of 1m handballs. 5 1m handballs at 90% effectivensss means you've moved the ball 5m at 60%. Meanwhile Hawthorn goes bang with a 40m kick at 65%.

The AFL doesn't want teams to play our way. And rightfully so. It's an eyesore.

In this case Jordan is the best tagger in the comp, kept Neale to 10 possessions last week. I think Serong was alright considering, Brayshaw though was not good enough.

I’ll tell you what will get an atmosphere going - win games and play with excitement, dare, verve and passion. Get on the front foot and entertain the fans and the buzz will take care of itself.

On the coach - he’s clearly not the guy and the sooner he is moved on the sooner we can get serious about being a force in this comp. Only a fool would still think JL can win a flag with this team. Have expressed doubts about him on here since the 2022 elimination final v Collingwood when we were pressured off the park in an alarming fashion and nothing we have seen in the intervening 2.5 years has made me lose those doubts about this coaches gamestyle. Anyone who still thinks it’s a premiership winning gamestyle after all we have seen now has worms in their brain. You are doing the long term prospects of this club a massive disservice by continuing to back him in. I’m sure JL is a great guy and good family man and it would have been a great feel good story had he won a flag with this side but unfortunately professional sport is brutal business. Hard, ruthless and uncompromising decisions need to be taken by single minded individuals in control of clubs in order to achieve success - the kind of personalities most of us are not exposed to very much in our everyday lives. Do we have them? Doubtful.

As for the list. I’m starting to think it’s substantially overrated. We are not skilled enough. Not tough enough. Mentally weak. No true undisputed A grader.

Voss is an easy target from yesterday’s shitshow. Yes he had some howlers. The cross field kick was galling in particular - you aren’t David Mundy mate, know your limits. But there should be many more in the gun.

What about Frederick? Missing an absolute sofa from the top of the goalsquare?
Brayshaw - he’s honestly become so vanilla. Not in the top 20 mids in the comp, and I’ll fight anyone who argues otherwise.
Ryan is not fit. Enjoyed his summer after winning an AA. Has been shown in previous years to build into a season but again it’s laziness. He should be fit from R1.
Cox - a great argument not to give guys long term deals. It’s human nature you take the foot off the pedal when your job is secure long term.
Banfield getting 100 games when he’s a state league player tells you all you need to know about this clubs mediocrity and ordinariness.

The coach is clearly changing nothing about his style and so I’ll still watch but I’m half checked out until it changes. We are winning nothing this year and I think we need some significant surgery on this list.
A top 5 pick at the end of the season and a premium mid from the draft along with a new coach is probably needed in all honestly.

I think all Mundy is doing is pointing out JL is not the man and is a stone cold zero percent chance of winning a flag. Ergo, any team would be closer to a flag than us. When we change the coach, then I expect Mundy would change his position.

Trying their backsides off is futile when they are busting their gut playing a dire game style that guaranteed to never get ultimate success.

Matching a losing grand finalist with the worst injury list in the competition and in sub-par form is nothing to be happy about. They were missing 7 players from their GF side, plus Mills and Adams. And Grundy was injured during the game. We've got some outs, but overall the Sydney outs were much worse and we should have beaten them easily.

Really though any list can win a flag if they’re coached right. Hawthorns turned a bunch of nobodies into the form team of the comp. Barely any stars on that team. All look better because of coaching.

That’s not a good question at all.

To get it close to being reasonable you have to ask do we believe the current eagles list can win a flag. To which the answer is an emphatic no. They have no one to replace Kelly or Gov for a start and no decent ruck.

So that analysis of what Mundy said makes no sense.
