We are genuinely the most pissweak club in the league and I’m so sick of it….. you just knew exactly what was going to happen yesterday from the first bounce.. completely predictable.

I’d rather be a bunch of unlikeable arrogant c*nts like Hawthorn that win, instead of being the club with the softest underbelly in the league.
And I’m sorry - it starts at the top, JLo, nice guy, weak coach, poor leader, dreadful tactician.
Pearce, lovely bloke, I’m not sure he’s a strong leader.
Garlick - nice guy, he’s all talk, no action.
We had Bob Murphy in there pumping everyone’s tires up for 2 seasons instead of getting someone in with a bit of old school fire and brimstone.
Replaced him with Damian Martin - a basketballer, radio personality nice guy.
[PLAYERCARD]Jaymie Graham[/PLAYERCARD] - nice guy, mediocre player.

We need a hard edge, no one got in and flew the flag for Caleb yesterday, why didn’t a Banfield or some other dispensable figure go and lay Viney out? That’s how you deal with a tag…

Get Horse Longmire in this week and become a real club.
Give Caleb the captaincy, tell him to lead from the front.
I genuinely do not mind being disliked by every other team in the land - it’s better than being entirely irrelevant to everyone else, which is what we are.

Hardwick fronts up to the media and
has a go at the VIC premier.
Should Balta have played?
It’s not an equal playing field, so why play by their rules?
We have to smash the door down and have clubs fearing to play our brand.
As the saying goes why did you bring a knife to a gun fight.

Our midfield is incredibly overrated, as a unit we are severely lacking in several areas:
Pace & strength to break tackles - NOD
Big body contested bull - no one
Good Disposal - Young (Serong & Brayshaw have horrendous skills by hand and foot)
Wings - bottom 6 in the league
C graders at best - JOM, Sharpe, Johnson
Rucks - we spend ~$2M on these guys each year, like every good team it is better to spend $500k on a ruck and then get better midfielders. Darcy should be traded.

Well and truely flogged in the midfield by Melbourne.

God this club forum is a miserable place to be lately. We win a few and instead of some good energy it feels like the dam wall is just getting higher and higher and the second we lose everyone just comes crashing down with more vehemence, more I told you so's, more hindsight heroism.

If we are who the team are supposed to be playing for then no wonder they falter, putting your body on the line for supporters who opine about being the best fans in the comp, but the only thing we do well is bronx cheer fringe 22 players and erupt into histrionics the second we lose one that everyone had pencilled in as "we better win by 100 or we're not a serious team".

Last week a few of us found out who runs the Flagmantle page and to be quite honest it might as well be any of you on here lately, I'm 🤏 this far from hanging my trotters up and just watching Dockers footy with my Mrs and old Petey at work. Much more pleasant than fraternising with you other "supporters".

When I was watching us turn in another insipid performance yesterday, I randomly was reminded of a quote from Adam Cerra a few years ago in the media. In the media Adam is generally a boring guy that says nothing of note but he once said (while at freo) that that playing AFL footy was just a job at the end of the day and it wasn’t the be all and end all. Paraphrasing a bit here, but that was the general gist of it.

Looking at the efforts of a dozen of our players yesterday - I just thought the exact same thing.
They don’t care. It doesn’t mean enough to them.

You just never hear that kinda talk out of great players and great teams.
It’s no good because there are other players and teams in the league that it means everything to, and they will always rise to the top over the long term.

Seriously you all make out like you've been in this toxic marriage for 31 years and the only way it'll have been worth it is when your rich in laws finally die and you cop the big inheritance.

You're tired, impatient and can't face the reality of dating in your 50's so you're inviting everyone over for mushroom ragout, because what if you get away with it?

I've been sickened by the fawning over other coaches on here. Just leave and go root Sam Mitchell.

I'm off to wave my flag, abuse the umps, hate every single other club, die inside when we lose and front up the next week and do it all over again.

So you’re happy to accept mediocrity again for the 31st year? I’m not.. have had enough of too many of our ‘fans’ excusing this tripe.
Flagmantle is a bit of a flog, but at least he calls out sh*t performance instead of accepting it.

I'm saying the sort of crowdsourced regime change being espoused in these parts makes for a miserable end to this season, makes the club fertile ground for weasling player agents to get in people ears about trade and isnt my job.

As I see it, we support wholeheartedly until its a mathematical impossibility to make finals, then if that happens, crowd attendance peters out until the end of the year, the bottom line is affected, the board acts accordingly and J Lo is gone.

Making everyone's lives root canals while we're still a chance is a self fulfilling prophecy.

The way I see it, waiting until it’s a mathematical possibility to make finals before making change is continuing to be passive… my feeling is the best chance of success this year is to move earlier rather than later, whilst something can still be made of this year.
Waiting until the end of the year, bringing in an interim, maybe getting a few nothing wins, it just doesn’t do enough for me.

I’d rather see the club be ruthless, move on JLo sooner, and then see what can be made of this year.

Sometimes support comes in the form of a smack to the head and being told to get your shit together.

We're in the 6th year of this tin pot regime. Open your eyes.

You can’t deny there are players that live and breathe the club. Then on the other hand you have the guys who sign long term deals and just show up for their pay. It’s pretty obvious who each group of players are.

There are players that care all the time - serong, Brayshaw, young. They are in great physical shape because that's something they can control, they try and add to their games.

There are players that care on GameDay but not during the offseason - Ryan, Darcy. They are talented and that often is enough. They aren't in peak professional athlete condition. They don't add much to their game year on year.

There are players who just don't seem to care at all. They never turn the tide in games. They can look great in moments or certain games but are generally too 'comfortable' - Cox.

The normal Fremantle player reaction to our current situation is to become too desperate, and that will make us worse.
A)We will have 3 defenders leaping for the spoil, leaving two opposition forwards unmarked on the ground for easy goals.
B) In the contest we will have 2 players attempting to tackle, not be effective and leave opposition team mates free on the outside to move the ball away from the contest easily.
C)Our forwards will do 'the team thing'. We will over handball in the F50 with nobody brave enough to take a shot. Over using the ball until a turnover occurs, then see B. I'm hoping Bolton and Reid aren't afflicted with this.
D) when the above happens our home members will start to groan 'Uuurrgghh' in unison heaping more pressure on the players and all of the above is exacerbated.
This is all so predictable. We will try too hard and make things worse.
This is endemic in the club. Even under Ross we struggled to be calm under pressure.
Pearce is going to do a serious amount of falling over, Ryan and Cox will kick sideways a lot, long bombs down the line will look like a tactic we've never thought of before that moment and we'll be out numbered at the fall of the ball. See B.
Freddie will attempt 15 tackles and stick none. Clark will run around in circles a lot. Amiss will be invisible for 95% of the game. Brayshaw, Serong and Young will be our best players unless tagged, then we're stuffed.
Go ahead and add your own list of stuff we know is going to happen.
We'll win a game or two we shouldn't win, then lose the ones we should.
I've just seen all of this before and it's in the DNA of the club.
We need controlled anger. Smart arse energy. An inner belief that we're better. That at the end if the day, our players and system will come out on top. In close games we'll win.
We have none of that.

  • List is overrated given the age and experience profile - The media and club leadership are sending the wrong messages to the fans
  • List is unbalanced - i.e. Darcy and Jackson contracts mean we lose the ability to pay for talent in other areas.
  • Coach has been trying for 6 years to execute a game plan that has never worked consistently.
  • Selection integrity highly questionable.
  • Game day coaching highly questionable
  • Club lacks ruthlessness at all levels.
This is a results based industry, all that ultimately matters is winning, words and feelings meaningless.

It feels like the club thinks its can skip a part of the journey to a premiership, the part where you are actually consistently good, and going straight from rebuilding a list to a premiership. i.e. Rebuilding > good ??? > great

Finals once in a decade shows we are not even a good team yet let alone a premiership contender, that's where the club messaging should be at, set expectations properly, which would have flow on effects to things like list management and team selection.

Why do people struggle to comprehend the vent page? Its venting .Its a way of irrationally articulating our continued frustrations and dissapointment .I suppose we could all wave the flag and cheer a loss .Yay we lost again but that was a good loss better than the last loss but not as good as the loss a few weeks ago , that one was a great loss

Sigh. . . This is the vent thread. It’s an emotional punching bag for people to express anger & frustration. That’s why it’s called the vent thread. It makes not one iota of difference to anything that happens at club level. It’s a sandpit, a safe space to scream.
It doesn’t need the supporter attitude policing.

I haven’t opened this thread all year. Today I did because.

Yesterday was garbage. The coaching was diabolical & the players sucked.

It ruined my day because I care & I’ve cared for years.

So I’m here to scream and get it out of my system so I can get on with my life.

The, whole post, particularly the second half of your post is spot on.

It's like we just expect the players to all of a sudden just become the best in the comp as they age. Like we're gonna just pop and become a grand finalist.

Our game plan seems to follow that thought process too.

Only time this club has been semi successful is when it was ruthless. Once in 30 odd years! Time for that again imo. I’d give the reins to Rawlings, see what he can do, then look for a replacement for next year. Longmire would be the ideal replacement
