Logue was offered insane money for a long term contract when North were basically trying to do anything to lure players over and to hit their salary floor. He was mostly shit for Fremantle. he's barely played.

Acres was a dumb get, another one of the 'let's get anyone from WA' era. Was both soft and a bully. Is shit at Carlton.

Schulz was given the lowest possible contract his whole time here, had an offer to go to the best team in the competition and be near his family and took it. It hurt. He was a heart and soul player.
Acres has been good the last 2 years at Carlton and contributed to successive finals campaigns and would currently be our best winger by a mile. He wasn't demanding crazy money either. He has his faults but you can't tell me he wouldn't be a significant upgrade on Jeremy Sharp. NOD is better but always injured. Schulz hurts the most, although we were able to parlay his pick into the Bolton trade to lessen the blow. Agree on Logue.

The club has a strange obsession with just shuffling the pieces for no discernable upgrade though.

It's a crude metric but how much better is Lloyd Meek over Jackson?

Will Bolton have a better Freo career than Schulz?

And I know it's a pathetic thing to do, but we wouldn't have needed Blake Acres if Bradley Hill hadn't have left.

There's always this constant inertia at the club and I can't help but think it obviously damages cohesion, but it sends a bit of a signal that it's okay to just come and go from Freo. A lot of great sides are built on a core of lads who were all drafted within the same 3-4 year period, but there's sort of just little clusters of that and too many blow-ins.

Seen so many teams spud it up on prime time, Essendon multiple times a season and Melbourne have been part of 3 boring games.

But when we do it, the vic media unite and push for a freo ban on primetime.

F**k right off, where we these heroes last week? Were they bored in the freo v Crows match?

We suck, no denying that, but get stuffed with this "ban freo" push.

Yeh look I agree , the shit slinging was pretty rich .

But we were next level shit and the entire AFL is sick to death of Freo teasing them into believing then letting them down like a bag of shit .
I genuinely think most fans and the media really want us to succeed but there’s only so many times you can get kicked in the nuts .

Ordinarily I'd be mad too, but I'm at the stage where I welcome any and all pressure on the club to force the change we all know we need.

And I bet if there's one thing the board would hate it's the idea of the financials taking a hit. The whole country talking about banning us from high profile timeslots must surely be cause for some concern.

I don't particularly like Garlic but I don't think extending JL before the start of the 2024 season was that bad. I don't think he should have been sacked at the end of last year. The employment contract is a bit of nothingness. That he's saying JL will be coaching rd1 next year are empty words, everyone knows that. You say that til the day U put the knife in.

What would be inexcusable is if he hasn't put feelers out to other potential coaches now.

Bit of a rant. We all love David walls. His late picks in the draft/rookie draft are amazing. But we have a massively unbalanced list. We have no impacting senior leaders in the midfield or up forward. We have no attacking half backs, other than Clark who is great defensively but isn't all that attacking. We have a pretty bad wing rotation. We all love drizz and he has a lot more of potential. But if 'potential' and sharp running 17km a game with little impact is our plan on the wing then f me.

Geelong have Dempsey and Smith(admittedly playing inside more)

Pies have side bottom and josh daicos

Brisbane have to Fletcher and mccluggage

Hawks have D'Ambrosio and Weddle

We would have the worst wing and HBF rotation of any of the teams that were hoping to compete this year

Holy ****, just looked at the board... who are these people?

James Clement who was a South Freo boy and thought he was too good and went off to Collingwood.

The rest of them look truly nuts, I have to deal with boards every day as part of my job and people like this are the sort to go 'can we change this logo and make it bigger and also smaller.'

This is a really pathetic mindset.

The scheduling was stupid and St Kilda v Freo on a Friday was dumb as **** but jesus, it's apparently an anti-Freo thing now? our club was pathetic on the big stage. stop this pathetic nonsense.

Yeah. I don't know who these campaigners are outside of Clement.
Looks like we have gone the diversity hire because we are nice like that..
How do you spill the board ? That would have to be wafc as they own the license ?
The board can remove the CEO ?
And they are the group that needs to remove the coach ? Or is that the CEO job ?

Just watch Sam Mitchell last year when hawthorn were bundled out of finals. Full effort every game so much it hurt when they lost. We need a strong leadership group... CEO, coach, captain. I feel we have a top four team led by a bottom 4 leadership group. And screw management courses and MBAs ... and all that nonsense. The coach sound spend that time on something more worthwhile.

The board are a bunch of white collar simps... where is our firebrand? Just corporate types that only care about the bottom line and that's it. We need an Eddie McGuire type.

Every chance our season could be over already.

We have 4 wins from 8 games. Last year you needed a minimum of 13 wins to make finals.

So realistically we would need to win a minimum of 9 out of 15 remaining games.

This is our remaining fixture. Where do those 9 wins come from?

Collingwood (H), GWS (A), Port (H), Gold Coast (A), North (Optus ‘away’ game), Essendon (H), St Kilda (H), Sydney (A), Hawthorn (H), Collingwood (A), West Coast (H), Carlton (H), Port (A), Brisbane (H), Bulldogs (A)

You’d think we be able to take North/Essendon/West Coast all in Perth, so that’s 3. We have 3 games against Carlton and Port that look like 50-50’s on paper but these are our bogey teams, a combined record of 2-11 against these teams under Longmuir. A home game against St Kilda would usually be penciled in as a win but they just humiliated us so that game is in doubt too.

And we still have to play Collingwood x2, GWS/Gold Coast/Sydney/Bulldogs all away, and Hawthorn and Brisbane.

Obviously there’s still a lot to play out but right now I don’t see where these 9 wins come from. And 9 wins would just be enough to scrape into the 8.

We had as easy a start as we could’ve gotten and we needed to capitalise on it to make up for our rough run home. We needed to go 7-1 but instead we went 4-4. It’s likely to going to cost us yet another season, and JL his job.

Personally I called our season over after the Melbourne game.
(yeah yeah I know I've been arguing patience for big decisions, but it's still what I believe)

On the flip side if we make the finals from here it should be because we deserve it, which is all I care about anyways.

Maybe this
It’s going to be very tight
Will need to pull a couple out of our bums

I think our start isn’t far off what I expected
Geelong are scary good this year
Sydney was always 50/50
The Melbourne game with no May and Lever was a real let down
Tigers and Eaglez as expected
Bulldogs good win
Saints - was probably a tougher game than what we all thought but we shouldn’t have played that badly

Collingwood (H) - L
GWS (A)- W
Port (H) - L
Gold Coast (A) - W
North (H) - W
Essendon (H) - W
St Kilda (H) - W
Sydney (A) - W
Hawthorn (H) - L
Collingwood (A) - L
West Coast (H) - W
Carlton (H) - W
Port (A) - L
Brisbane (H) - L
Bulldogs (A) - L

This weeks game will be very telling

Acres has played in a prelim now, which is one more than about three dozen guys on our list have experienced
Blakers & Brodie have been a ****ing travesty.
The last time we played well against a block of a top of the table teams, 3 years ago those 2 were leading from the front.

The list is fine in my eyes - we're probably still too young, but the build is ok. There's senior players we've let go in recent years who would be handy right now and wouldve maintained leadership. We're just not using the tools we have in the right manner, we're unwilling to make change and try. Definition of stupidity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different outcome is it not?

Fyfe / Walters - unfortunately injured, but wouldve been great subs for the leadership piece. Not to play every game, but to pinch hit.
Brodie - not in the cool gang for some reason, but he's just the big mid we need. Can't fathom why he's not getting a go. He must be so mentally resilient dealing with his treatment. He always gets first hands on the ball and manages to release a handball to a runner - just what we need, so Brayshaw isnt doing that heavy lifting.
Ras - in the absence of Brodie, should be getting games at least to build his confidence. He's just clogging the list at present, but alas not in the cool gang
Johnson, not sure why he's been playing wing at times, he's not a wingman. Same as Ras above.
Attacking half backs - Clarke, Wagner, Walker are all attacking. Shame Walker is injured and Wags has had the odd injury too but we have the runners.
Wings i'm not too fussed. You can run 17km, touch it 5 times but still have a good game because you held your width and did the team thing. Chappie should likely be on the wing as a replacement.

Extending JL last year for only 1 year was a pathetic move which just screamed of conservatism. If they wanted him to stay around then fine but he shouldve been turfed end of last season for not making finals. Pretty simple, its a performance based industry and the numbers say he (clearly) hasnt performed. We're in a right predicament at present, treading water while our list will become twitchy. I'm all for giving people a fair go and not being too reactive but JLs record in 5 years just isnt good enough. That's not opinion, that is by the numbers.

Massive alarm bells this pre-season with the arrogance to trot out that we'll be contenders. Even more arrogance when after a pre-season game JL trotted out that we purposely played bad (vanilla). What a ridicuolous comment. JL is out of his depth, always has been. Just infuriates me that the club continues driving down this conservative pathway with not an ounce of ruthlessness.
