Was told from a freo source that pre-season was overly grueling for many players and that players don't understand the game plan. They are often confused when trying to deliver it on game day.

Fyfe and a few others aren't happy with the conditioning staff.
always interesting when things start leaking

We are irrelevant to the rest of the competition, and when we're not irrelevant we're the comedy relief, people either don't think about us at all or they just feel sorry for us and "barrack" for us as their "second team".

The only time we've ever been taken seriously as a club is when we gave Mark Harvey the boot and then signed Ross Lyon. That 2012-2015 period is the best in club's history and we didn't even get a flag out of it.

I love this club but far out it's a detriment to the mental health sometimes, all I want is any semblance of success, anything, that's all I want.
Try radical acceptance, it's what abused spouses do.

The source is reliable because what he says mostly happens in time afterwards or the flow on affect. The source us someone who knows another poster on this board.

I’m not surprised. It’s pretty obvious watching the game that the players are uncertain what to do.

I also suspect that the likes of Switta gets such a long leash despite being shite because he is someone that understands JL gameplan the best.

Quite telling when he’s rolled out every week after a loss despite being the worst player on the ground.

How can the AFL have any integrity if they came out today and say the umpires didn't stop play when Shoota was knocked out because none of them saw it. Considering it was in the middle of the ground no wonder they have a hard time with paying free kicks. They must really think all spectators are idiots and buy anything.

I'm sure the gruelling pre-season was part of a big push towards greatness. Clearly the great game plan has fallen flat.

So many sliding doors moments in this club over the past few years. Two first-rounders for Darcy when he was good, now Jackson wanting to go back to Vic. Schulz being kept on a rookie contract for years when he deserved so much more. Acres and Logue keepable but Peter hardnosed Bell wouldn't have it. If Ross was sacked a year earlier Neale might've stayed.

Very frustrating.

anyone else lost the passion already and dont really care about the results and cant wait for season to be over and justin to eff off

It's even worse than not caring about the results for me - I'm finding myself barracking for the opposition to finish us off properly if they're going to win. Last night went something like this for me:

Freo start like a house on fire

F**k yeah, lets go boys we can win this!

Pies absorb the punches and stroll ahead

Ah f**k it. Well at least do us a favour and smash us properly then you campaigners.
(Suddenly find myself actually getting annoyed at the opposition missing goals against my own team. Honest to god, it sucks, but that's how I was feeling)

Freo kick a couple to close the gap

F**k yeah, lets go boys we can win this!

Pies steady and gap us again

Oh ffs you campaigners, just smash us properly and put us out of our misery already.

But of course we end up with the worst of both worlds with a 'respectable' loss that doesn't force added pressure on a coaching change. I f**king hate feeling like this when I watch the team I've loved with all my heart for 30 long years, yet here I am.

It ****ing sucks doesn't it.

I'm scared that if I let go of the passion(tm) to get through this period, I'll never get it back and if we do ever make the changes necessary to rocket up the ladder and win it all, I won't be able to enjoy it because I stopped caring.

Nah we'll be right. I felt like this towards the end of Harvey's reign too (the only other time I ever have) but the minute I got the phone call from my brother that we had signed Lyon I snapped out of it instantly.

That phone call was like my moon landing - I still remember exactly where I was (a bottleshop up in Broome btw). Those beers tasted sweet that night.

I was living in Melbourne, got in the car to get pizza, SEN was on the radio and it's all they were talking about. Pretty sure it was the 1st time I looked at BigFooty too!

Our players stopped and tried to both check on Shoota AND alert the umpires. Collingwood couldn’t GAF and went on to score. You can see them waving frantically while near him and looking towards the umpires.

Cannot stand the Freo subreddit. Everyone there is delusional and full of excuses

Yeah, the reddit love-in vibe makes a nice change on the AFL sub compared to the toxic troll-fest of the bigfooty main board, but it doesn't work for drilling down and having proper discussion amongst diehard fans on a team board.

I was literally in the office where it all went down. Watching them usher in Ross and hide him away in the boardroom, Harris pacing around etc while I was frantically refreshing bigfooty and afl.com.au trying to figure out wtf was going on. Pure cinema. Will never forget it.

The reddit format works much better for fleeting discussions of one-off events too. Like quick clips of suspendable offences etc.

The format doesn't work anywhere near as well for ongoing, evolving discussions about things like coaching or list management.

I know I put this in the game review thread, but it's still annoying me.
In the 1st quarter (I'm pretty sure) Collingwood player A had the ball on the boundary in our F50 (his D50). Frederick was about 30-40m down the boundary 'guarding space or 'zoning off'. Collingwood player B was 20-30m from A on the same boundary line. I shouted to the TV, 'He's going to kick it to him Frederick, man up. He didn't. A kicked to B. THEN Frederick jogged backwards to be 30-40m from B. Daicos just moved straight into the space that Frederick left and received the kick from B.
Collingwood moved the ball 50m down the wing with 0% pressure and Frederick literally creating the space for them to do it.
Just appalling pressure by the player and even worse direction from the coach to do it.
There were dozens of examples like this through the game.
Players just making terrible decisions, and I assume because they're told to take that option.
That passage of play happened right in front of where we were sitting , I was losing my but watching it unfold
Zero pressure .

No way that is coached , that was just dumb football

Yeah. If you watch Freddy he is always waiting on the outside like a seagull waiting for a dish out. Maybe that's what he has been instructed to do if there's others around, but issue is when he is in isolation and it's his time to go, he doesnt
Another thing that does my nut is that he absolutely has no positioning to crumb or front and centre for those inevitable dump kicks up the line
Instead he somehow ends up at the side of the pack and a lot of the time the ball goes off the back to ground

Very clueless

Watching natural footballers like Dudley is such a breath of fresh air
