I don't want to see O'meara or Banfield in purple again and NOD shouldn't get a game either until someone lights a rocket under his arse. has gone backward at a rate of knots. mystifying.

Shai Bolton has not been worth the squeeze either. Consistently gone missing in big moments which is unacceptable for a player of his talent and what we gave up for him. This was always on the cards. He's had his success, and he's been paid. what else does he have to prove?

that feels a bit better. /rant.

He should have been sacked last year. Dropping the last 4 games was pathetic. This year he has got 15 wins. The excuse by the club and some of our J-lo sycophants will be talking up how it was a tough even year. Good teams don't make it this hard and aren't as comical as we are tonight. There's no game plan. J-lo is wasting great talent.
Going missing for 1, 2 quarters at a time and then relying on a massive last qtr comeback is not a method that will provide longterm results. We used up all the good grace the footy gods will ever give us during the last couple of months but it's back to the status quo now.

We have a gameplan that is predicated on dominating clearances and we have a whole 1 player who actually dominates clearances, and that's only when he's left untagged. We absolutely need to focus on more aggressive ball movement this offseason and our draft should also reflect that ethos.

Why would it? Jlo won't change and we'll get the same kind of performance

We played so poorly. Brayshaw, Serong, Jackson, Bolton all did SFA. They’re meant to be our leaders and senior players.

Also. Kick straighter ffs. Absolutely butchered it in front of the sticks.

If we had a bit more of a lift from those blokes or kicked a bit straighter we no way would have been chasing the game as hard as we were.

Also **** the umpires and their inconsistency

I get that Brodie isn't popular and there are concerns over his tank and his lack of two way running but, jesus christ, we just need someone at the contest extracting the ball. He can do this and he can get the ball moving. Fyfe and Mundy weren't exactly famed for their two way running. We are missing 1 to 2 midfielders right now. Serong is tagged out of the game, Brayshaw's has weirdly disappeared in the last 3 weeks. JOM has never been a good player and that shows. And who else do we have?

We can win next week.
The only positive is that we’ll get absolutely savaged in the media all week long.
That is the best thing that could happen to us before next weeks game. Be written off by all and sundry including our own fans. Be given no hope against a superior side.

Then the boys play without fear of expectation and can actually hit close to their max ceiling. Then we might win.

The problem is that can’t work every week. You can’t win a flag as an underdog in every game. At some point players have to be able to respond to expectation and not drink their own bathwater every time they get a little praise in the media.
This group has proven many times to be one of the worst sides I can remember in AFL footy, to still play well after receiving plaudits from the AFL community. We have coasted through games we should be winning easy in recent weeks and once a decent team appeared tonight we were well off it.

That’s why I hate that optimism thread. I fully understand why it’s there as it’s human nature to want to say nice things about your own players. With this group though - praise just makes them soft and complacent. It’s been proven and demonstrated many times. The narrative around the players seeps though to them every week too, they don’t live in a bubble.

One of the greatest sports man of all time used to invent his own grudges and disrespect from opposition to motive himself, Michael Jordan. Anyone who thinks it doesn’t make a difference has never played competitive sport.

So what I want it see this week is the vic media tearing strips off us all week long. SEN, Triple M, footy classified, agenda setters etc all writing us off as no hopers.
Thats our only chance now.

Don’t worry it’s a great list - we’re just short an A-grade mid; a defensive mid; two wings; a running half back; a stopper half back; and a small forward

Rambling incoherence worthy of the vent thread.

And bring in hate for the optimism thread. Lol.

As to what laying competitive sport.. I bet I’ve played at higher levels across a few sports than you have in any single sport.

I honestly feel like crying.

I was 6 when Freo debuted in 1995 and I've followed them ever since. When I was living in Perth, Shaun McManus and Daniel Bandy came to my primary school to promote themselves. I never watched AFL before that I was hooked.

30 years later and we have absolutely nothing to show for it. Nothing. Nada. Zip. Zero.

Every time the big lights hit Freo, they fold like wet cardboard.

I legitimately feel like Freo will never win a premiership, at least while I'm still alive, and I'm almost 36 now.
I’m the same, turning 40 this year. Told my mate on the train home I might die before we win a flag.

Also whilst I’m venting, can we piss Bolton off back to Richmond?

Absolute FIGJAM, but does nothing of value.
He’s got a rotten attitude. At least a few weeks back he showed some flashes to talent that helped the team and focused opposition attention, which freed up a few other guys to get loose and capitalise.

He’s not even like that anymore now. A Karl Worner stopper type will keep Bolton quiet at the moment.
Bevo will likely send Luke Cleary or Lachie Bramble to him next week and he’ll have 12 touches and minimal impact.
