What about Chappy? Escapes a lot of heat on here and I'm pretty sure he was playing on Humphries.
I've just about had enough of him to be honest. He looks good on occasion, but, like Jeremy Sharp, has suspect disposal, and has just not improved enough to a consistently good player.

He used to take on the game breaking kicks but not anymore. Looks slow and timid. He's gone backwards imo one of the big disappointments this year

Banfield and Worner rotated on Humphries. I think Chappy's been great this year in terms of playing his role every week. His disposal way, way better than Sharp in my opinion too.

Add Walker, Simpson and it’s a faster, unpredictable team.
Yep and hopefully McVee as well. The biggest issue now is for JLo to figure out how to use them. Rebounding is so freaking important to success. If you are getting beaten in the midfield you can still score on turnover/rebounding from defence. If you have good ball movement from D50 it gives you more looks at goal and better shot selection. Players like Bolton and Freddy would thrive with that quick supply. This is the main difference between the top two teams and us.

Yep, we've completely coached the instinct and dare out of the poor bloke. He's just a nothing player nowadays.

I used to despise Richmond for their never-ending mediocrity (at best) and laugh at their ineptitude and inability to make finals year on year. I used to think - god I hope we’re never like Richmond. Now, I’d give anything to be like Richmond. All these years of our mediocre nothingness would be completely bearable if we were able to snag three flags. Even one would do at the point in time.

Now I think we’re more like St Kilda. Gross.

I think it will be very difficult to win a flag, particularly with how compromised the draft system is with father/son and the academies favouring the Northern clubs.
Being able to secure a top 5 talent with a handful of rubbish draft picks is like emptying your kid’s piggy bank at the local car dealer and coming away with a brand new Porsche.
That’s without mentioning free agency and the salary cap, which from the outside is totally unauditable.

It actually shows you how hard it is to win a flag from WA, when we absolutely smash it out of the park in the draft, and (aside from Jess Hogan) go pretty well in the trade too, and still can't crack a top 4 finish.
Make no mistake, this is not a level playing field. Academies, father/son's, free agency, travel, fixtures, and our location are all geared against us. It's not going to be impossible to win a flag, but our margin for error is tiny.

I genuinely don't think we ever win a flag. I wish I could find a way to support without caring.

Nup
Window is wide open next 2 years then it slams shut
Such a good young list with lots of improvement left in them
Need to make the most of Ryan and Pearce though , they’ve only got a couple of good years left in them.

Hold fast there’s still hope
It’s an exciting team to watch

Im just watching the replay now and we played pretty well but there were a few dumb/ costly moments throughout the game
Gold Coast capitalised when they went forward early creating scoreboard pressure

( and yes , despite me hoping some of those shit frees/ reversals weren’t there live , they were and they were bullshit )

I havent watched the replay and being at the game live, some of its a blur. One blur I seem to recall is Chapman, when we were behind and having to attack at all costs and let it all hang loose, streaming out of the backline, providing run and carry and doing his best Jordie Clark impersonation.

I remember thinking, where has this been all year, it looked great and we looked so dangerous for a moment or two? If you can do it then, whats stopping us doing it before. Why have you left your run literally to the last quarter of the Elim final?

Why are we so dour??

With Walker out of the side Chapman took over as the primary lock down player.. His role changed. In my opinion he's been superb in that role. Eg He was a massive loss coming into the Melbourne MCG game. Without him in the team Picket ran amok.
