Wrong considering the final 2 candidates were Longmuir and Rawlings. I'd also be very surprised if Suma was considered at any point.

With the soft cap, seems these days we can't offer the higher dollars required to dislodge someone from interstate so WA talent is our only option... and you have people on here who think we might as well fold before considering anyone from West Coast so 'jobs for the boys' it is.

Not exactly correct, our main two candidates were Rawlings and Longmuir.

I'm so pissed off that Freddie doesn't apply enough pressure. Mayne is a good pick up but I am still really angry.

Fantastic and a much more fitting vent and accurately reflects my feelings on Freddy. I am also pissed at the coach because he is the one who clearly directed Freddy to stop his run down tackles.

Yeah that’s my point really. I do think this club prioritises former players in these sort of scenarios, which is odd because none of our former players have ever tasted the ultimate success (unless it’s with another club).

I’d like to see us be bolder, go out and poach someone from a top 4 club. Make a statement instead of internal hires and getting more Freo people on board.

Having said that, I always liked Chris, he’s done a good job at South Freo (as much as I dislike that club - go Sharks), so wish Mayney the best of luck.

If he could work on our forwards to implement the forward pressure that Mayney and Ballas had we will be a far better team. Ballas was down at training a fair bit last year so the combination could do some good for us for sure.

Freddie doesnt tackle enough. grumble grumble grumble. Jobs for the boys. grumble grumble. Mayne was a shit goal kicker, so what can he add. grumble grumble.

i shall vent about everyone wanting our players to be all the same.

"All hard ball tacklers. Freddy is weak" the crowd chant.


Wht any good team needs is a balance of roles.
Yes we need hard tacklers, deep in and unders, but we also need those on the outside waiting for that ball to come out from the pack and then take a run, hit a leading Fullforward on the chest.

From my old coachign days i loved my two or three players who would get into the packs and win the ball. i loved another 2-3 who would use body size and strength to crash a pack, i loved those players who could fly high,

Yes sometimes you get gifted with players who can do multiple things.

Be happy Freddy plays his role. he covers a lot of ground on game days, he isnt just waiting in forward line for the next easy kick. he is making space to be the link man from defence.

So Yes i vent that peoples expectations are all falling on one poor fellow who is doing great for the club.

Get what you’re saying and Freddy definitely plays his role well but not consistently

It’s not just the “head over it “ knock on Freddy .

For me it’s also the “ Freddy , what the hell are you doing standing to the side of a contested pack when everyone knows it’s either going to come down front and centre or a crumb off the back ? “ .
I see this regularly with our bomb kicks out of defence.

Front and centre is the best option to either :
A . Crumb , dish , play on
B. Overlap if we mark it
C. Pressure if the opposition marks it to slow down the turnover

Being off to the side is next to useless and a low percentage option .
