There’s a bunch running in a circle where every shit team is beating another shit team so that it’s becoming quite hard to work out who’s the actual shittest.
So far we’ve had Norf d Poort; Poort d Bummers; the Scum d Norf… next week we have Norf v Bummers and Poort v the Scum. We have to wait till Rd12 for the blockbuster Scum v Bummers game to really see how it’s all going to pan out - but I feel we’ll get a fair idea after next week.
The real shit will soon sink while the more slimey stuff will rise to the top. My prediction as the season progresses:
Poort
Scum
Norf
Bummers

(Richmond get a pass for being crap cos they’re trying to do the rebuild right. cough Murphy Reid cough)
To be fair things fell apart pretty quickly today when Logie Bear was ruled out which left the Scums forwards a bit of an opening
Pretty poor coaching from Clarkson not to adress that

I like seeing Voss do Voss things like crashing packs and smashing opponents with a bone crunching tackle. The rest of his game comes along when he does that. Even picking Langdon up was just a funny bit of by play. What I don't want to see him do is carry on like a pork chop cos you know his brain is far too gone to think about playing footy. At that point he just wants to be a pest. It's immature and weak.

I’m not that concerned about Voss. I think he’s far more likely to break a game open for us in the coming weeks than Amiss for example.
Remember Voss had a poor start to last season too. Hell - I even recall some of our most prominent extreme optimists on this board were ready to run him out of town with pitchforks after round 2 defeat to the Swans last year in Perth.

He’ll dominate and kick 3 or 4 in a game pretty soon in the coming weeks.

Jye Amiss though…. We have a problem here that’s inevitably going to bite us at some stage. I would say he hasn’t been in the top 5 freo players on the ground in a game in about 3 years now. Around the league players considered inferior in the past such as Chol and Shannon Neale have left him for dust in their development.
You can get away with being a low possession key forward but you need to be racking up goals like Ben King at the suns to be effective in that role.
Not sure what the solution is. Maybe a stint a peel to get confidence

Jye Amiss isn't getting any better playing in the ones. That is a fact.

Look at this absolute horse shit

I just can't ... How is this something that the MRO cares about?

I can see an argument - barely - that Voss deserved a fine from that game, but if he did, it'd be for carrying Langdon around, not for rubbing his own eyes as a part of a taunt. The Langdon thing worked out OK because of the timing (after the game was already decided), and because Langdon laughed it off, but to me it's the one clearly more likely "to instigate a melee or retaliatory action".

More of a small vent considering how much draft success we’ve had compared to West Coast’s in recent times, but damn I would have loved Murdock on our list instead of the slime’s.

Stoked for the bloke personally to be on an AFL list and making an impact, just not for that mob

he is doing his job and our forward line is working well with 3 mobile tall FWDS!
I half agree with you. There were definitely 3-4 good things he did up the ground and very rarely is Treacy being double teamed because Amiss still needs to be manned up.

In the first minute he came steaming out of the 50, took the ball on the bounce and handballed immediately to Dudley who just missed on the run (for our first behind) - lovely play by him that we need to see more of.

But then the miss in front of the sticks after the 50m penalty was abject and you could see his confidence drain away.

At the expense of scerri?

I’d love to see more out of Amiss, but while we’re reliably scoring 100+ points I’d be reluctant to mess with the components of the forward line

Lick of the ice cream blah blah

So the next bunch of games we get
  • 7 day break vs Richmond's 7 (fair enough)
  • 6 day break vs Adelaide (8)
  • 7 day break vs Collingwood (8)
  • Then we get a 9 day break vs West Coast (big deal)
  • 6 day break vs Carlton (8)
  • 6 day break vs Bulldogs (8)
  • 6 day break Hawthorn (7)
That's completely f**ked, consistently shorter breaks against against important opponents over a prolonged period of time.

This is the WWE, not a serious sporting comp

That's farked x2. I'd 'manage' a few players against Richmond here, deffo Darcy. 6 day turn around against the Crows over there is (potentially) brutal. Of course, I expect Darcy to play and increase minutes as Justin will want as many games out of him as possible, but this (Richmond) is a game you can 'manage'/omit him and risk M. Cox without sacrificing too much. I feel. Even if Cox isn't much chop, I think you break even in the ruck contests, and the Dockers have enough midfield weapons to win clearances and also spring off halfback and repel attacks.

Or maybe Darcy plays and is 'rested' next week (??). I am worried about Amiss, he's kind of gone amiss. Unfortunately.

I wouldn't risk B. Cox until Adelaide even if he passes fit. Maybe play WAFL if there's a fixture (??). I'd rather omit Omac too, but I think he can stay in for this game and not be too much of a liability.

I expect either no change or maybe just 1 solitary change. Maybe 2 max. I know for a fact Justin is averse to changing too much especially off the back of a winning formula.

To be honest if the Dockers lose this, they may as well hand in their license, no offense intended to Richmond. But it shouldn't be in question.

I don't know. The last 3 is also a bit brutal. Gee, the AFL really HATE the club, don't they?! Piss poor is a euphemism at this stage. Sometimes I feel like people scoff and think you're (generalizing) just all tinfoil hat when you complain about the corruption, the lop-sidedness and the general treatment of the club, but it's plain as day to see, black & white just how unequal the fixturing is and how potentially hazardous it can be to navigate for a team that just deserves a fair crack. That's actually preposterous, but I will shut up about it now because someone will eventually moan I moan too much

3x six day breaks in a row would be f*cked even before you factor in the opposition getting 7-8 day breaks.

I swear Neesham must have ****ed someone's mrs in AFL HQ and now there's a permanent black mark against us

That's quite absurd... especially the Carlton into Bulldogs into Hawks stint. I assume some of this is due to us requesting less Sunday fixtures though.

Well that is exactly what I was talking about in our post match thread - we need to look after our players because the fixture inequity is giving us a good stuffing over the next six weeks. It puts decisions made late in the Melbourne game in context.

Those 6 vs. 8 day breaks are absolute crap. The only two I really have an issue with are the last two vs. Dogs and Hawks - that is a massive advantage for quality oppo. The rest to me are not a big deal.

Whoever designed these grates at Fiona Stanley. Because of construction I didn't see them and rode my bike over then the wrong way and went over the bars. Broke my first bone (hand) at 38😢

At least you were in the right place!
