Very pleasing to hear that Blighty is still involving himself with us
Blighty story for you, I went up to him a couple of years ago at the Suns club champion dinner and said

"Blighty I just wanted to say you were my childhood hero"

To which he replied

"**** I'm getting old'

Mrs Bigun found this hilarious......bitch ;)

Interesting thread on the main board where the OP, a physio by profession, believes O'Cockface's knee issues are actually related back to his spine. This was surprising news to me as I didn't even think he had any spine :p
That's crap he has had chronic tendinitis in both kneecaps since Juniors. Absolute rubbish.
He's cooked. When we drafted him there was concerns about his knees. They are shot.
Your joke was still funny though.

At the start of the function after the Hawks game, poor Jessie Joyce was standing alone for a few minutes. I still don't think anyone recognises him!

Most underrated for sure :p
I noticed that, even Lyons walked through and no one even spoke to him. Walked through the whole function, and I was the first person to speak to him

Have a read of the JOM thread on he Hawks board if you have a couple of hours, page after page of very nervous Dawks supporters. Starts with them belittling our medical staff and how they the mighty Dawks will get him right for the start of the season, but slowly it's become a self justifying thread that it was not them that traded poorly it was us for not taking the first rounder this year, funny I haven't heard any of us complain.

Looking like the most one sided trade in history at the moment and I love the taste of their tears

^^^ thanks will go have a read now

Jesus-it's up to page 125

All I did was skim it

Firstly they start out believing they will win a Premiership now and that they've done us over.

They talk of us being a training ground for them. They have absolutely no respect for us whatsoever.

They hate Our Chairman so much. To the point where it's a bit disturbing actually. Violent fixation would not be an exaggeration. Nice work Tony.

Then some discussion about how we are backwards in Medicine up here whereas down there they are the centre of medical civilisation

Then slowly the despair builds and builds and builds.

It was interesting ,however, at the same time the posters in general on their thread have terrible literacy skills compared to our posters and I found deciphering their rubbish a bit frustrating.

I'm not from Melbourne and only ever holidayed in the CBD. Is Hawthorn a low socio-economic inbred sort of area??? The poor writing in their forum suggests so.

Seriously what sort of area is Hawthorn? I'm not being a smart Alec.

I told them about his chronic patella tendonitis months ago.
There was deathly silence.

When does the All Australian 40 man squad get released.
Round 16 or something?

Who from our team is a chance to be in the squad
Likely: Ablett, May
Possible: Lynch
Slim chance: Witts

Anyone else got a different take on this?

Maybe would have added Harbrow to slim chance before suspension (Brereton had him in his AA 22), and Saady if the selectors watched our games closer

Hawthorn was a little working class in the 1960s/70s but is actually quite an afluent suburb now where the average house would be $1.5-$2m

I find that Hawks supporters are spread out all over Melbourne, well at least in the South East suburbs were they are based. Plenty of decent people I know barrack for them although the level of cockiness and entitlement has certainly increased in the average supporter over the last few years.

And I've found over the years, and I'm a grumpy ole fart, that a lot (and by no means, all) but a lot of the "Milky Bar Kids" (an ole Qld name for the Vics), had the notion that their shit didn't stink..............but I'm here to tell ya, their fart gave them away........and 40 yrs later, nothing has changed.

And while I'm here, let me say watching tonight's Friday night game, the "Showcase of AFL football' was a total displeasure for me. A terrible game , with 3rd rate umpiring, a deficiency in skills, in front of a crowd of 26000+. This from a city of 4.5 million, and the southern media have the temerity to have a go at both Brissy and The Suns if we don't pull 20k.
I know, I know, they're going to come out with "but we have 10 teams to spread the fans around" and the game wasn't quite up to it because of "the pressure applied".

But when you can only get 26000+ to the only game on a Friday night in the heartland of Australian Football, with the Competition as even as it is, with both teams trying to make the 8, and on Boomers' farewell too...........then obviously something isn't going all that well in that great AFL city we all know as Melbourne.......

I think I'm going to have another beer......;););););)

PS: if I don't get a "like" from Mr Bods, I'm going to be terribly disappointed :rolleyes::rolleyes:

That's a Blockbuster crowd for NRL.
Crowd didn't surprise me 32000 would have been maximum anyway for the teams the way they have both been playing.
The crowds in Melbourne have been very good this year generally. But yes not a great choice for the Friday night showcase. I've seen better games at Burleigh Bombers seniors.

That was my recollection from some interviews before he went overseas to see that specialist, that the chronic tendinitis was quite possibly an hereditary condition and something he would have to play with for the rest of his career. Hence the club sent him to get his kneecaps shaved to help improve it. All he's doing now is shaving a big chunk off Hawthorn's salary cap.

But, but they all have 60,000 members..... waiting for the 2 game reptile membership to arrive soon. Hawthorn maybe?

100% exactly what's happened.
The actual impact injury to kneecap was a 1 in 1000 injury and a 1 in 10000 for someone already with tendonitis in both kneecaps.
Very surprised if plays more than 20 games the rest of his career.
We have absolutely robbed Hawthorn blind. Isn't it great!

Also can't help but laugh at the fact that Damien Barrett will say something about Jaeger's knee and they go absolutely crazy, talking about how he 'has absolutely no integrity, he makes up everything he says and he's a deadset flog' (which he is, but not the point), but then says something along the lines of 'Steven May might be at Hawthorn next year' and suddenly Damien Barrett knows everything, his sources are iron clad, and May might as well already come out announce he's signed a deal with them.

I reckon most clubs do that. Only listen to it when it fits to what they want.

Very very off topic, anyone with an interest in horse racing, I bought my wife a share in a horse for mothers day. Has its first start today at Donald Vic. Race 1 @ 12:30 number 5 American summer. Lots of unraced untrialled horses in the race, 2 Weir horses but should be right in it. Currently paying $11.
hey where do you go for such a thing? how much can a share set you back?
