I couldn't get my boys to go today.
They say it's embarrassing supporting the Suns
So sad from kids who have never missed a home match if we've been in town
For me the rot started at The Gabba with the Melbourne match
It seems we're back to a novice coach playing 18yo's
No Malcolm Blight /Sheedy/Roos type as mentor
Just freestylin'.
Dew isn't above criticism- he came in saying performance will be rewarded
That's quite clearly a lie
The Club isn't in danger of folding but it will take time to re-establish a fan base of believers

Great work McLachlan, VFL House, VFL clubs, VFL media. You can’t expect kids to buy into an under resourced sh*t sandwich unlike your pets the GWS with their amazing staff, facilities and extra concessions. Bravo Deadbeats.

Yeah, that's the rub
I really only got back into AFL when The Suns arrived mainly for the boys
When the boys were little boys(they're 12 and 8 now) I don't think winning or losing meant too much
But they feel bad and sad after we get thrashed every week
The eldest says he'd go if he thought we had a chance but we don't
Even in the early darkest days we were (or at least we believed) we were a sneaky chance
I know people seem to think we are improving but I don't see it

Took my 6 yo last week and your right - he didn't really care that we were getting spanked.

The problem is the game plan Dew is trying to instill has such a defensive mindset that it is neither pretty nor encouraging when we get pinned in our own half for quarters at a time.

I guess this was what Roos did at the Demons in the initial years so hopefully your boys will be encouraged to jump back on when the worm turns.

Mine won’t even watch on TV now.

I think just there is improvement in effort but our ability to get the ball out of congestion to a player that then can look for a target is just terrible. Then when we do manage to get it out we often fluff the kick.

Can’t blame the kids :(

I just listened to the northern exposure podcast I don’t know why Newcastlefalcon keeps mentioning having his name on the foundation board it means nothing and also comparing to the lions when fagan took over.. the lions didn’t spend their first half of the year on the road away from home and saying need to go back to the draft like lions did with mclugagge and berry isn’t that what we did with Brodie Ainsworth scrimshaw?
And still banging on about lynch he was the captain having secret meetings with a list manager on camera hiding his car and jumping a fence

I’m a 10 year as well Iva , I heard last night we are having one in November .

Other things from last night Darcy Mac will play this week , I’d presume Neafl , Jack Bowes will wear no.3 guernsey next year.

Been a member since the beginning, back when it was a $50 membership for the TAC/VFL? I can't remember which one. Either way, I've never been added to the foundation members list. Used to have a membership card with it on it but even that isn't on my card anymore???

That was the black card with the GC logo, rare as a root for an old married man those cards
If you have been a “constant member” ( insert viagra joke here) you should call the club and see why it’s not on your current membership card flashy

I worry about the new clubs, dragged the family out through the Shitney traffic to the GWS v Swans game only to get there and the main car park is reserved for the Bledislow. Turned around and came home. By the look of the crowd we weren’t the only ones.

How can the Olympic precinct that is hardly used so badly **** up but having a local derby against a rugby international

Unfortunately the AFL's desire to release the fixture so early combined with the reluctance to make changes mid season means rival codes in nsw and qld book games in that can not just compete with AFL but obliterate it ratings wide.

It's been awhile since I posted on here. I've watched every game and lurked around Big Footy. I'm pissed. I love my sports, I'll admit I shed tears after losses, not all, but some. I'm a Chicago sports fan. Cubs, Bears, Bulls, Blackhawks, University of Illinois for college sports. I've experienced the Cubs, Bulls, and Blackhawks win a championship in my life, while the Bears and Illinois basketball fall short in a championship game. Things take time, I'm fully aware. But the Gold Coast Suns and the overall sport of Australian Football is a different beast. This sport and team weren't forced upon me, I found them and they found me!

I've turned 12 people onto AFL, 7 have become members, 2 have won premierships, none for the Gold Coast and one was my own mother! This shit is getting personal.... I love my American sports teams but nothing brings the highs as a Gold Coast win and nothing brings the lows as a Gold Coast. Yes Australian Football is my favorite sport but the thing I cling to is, I give money to this club!!!! Like most (all?) I'm not a wealthy guy, I don't have money to blow yet I will give this club money for my membership. There's a difference between American and Australian sport obviously, but that's what I think it boils down to. I'm paying to feel miserable and yet will continue to do so.

Just wanted to explain my absence for those that care.

Sorry TJ, I think you’re currently suffering from an illness very common to supporters of clubs like Carlton, Brisbane, St. Kilda and the Suns - PPPSD - Post-Piss-Poor-Season-Depression.
