some tosser on the AFL site in the match review rated him a 7 and named him in their best?WTF!
Sometimes I wonder if these footy jornos ever played the game .
Either drunk or watching a different game or most probably both.
I saw that too and was amazed.
I thought forward spinning drop punts left our game with Damien Monkhurst, but Josh has mastered it.

An indictment on the brownlow voting system is no more evident that on sportsbet website. There is a betting option for highest brownlow vote count in groups. For the group 'changed clubs' one of our old favourites is listed.

Josh Caddy @ $41
2014 statistics. 15 games. 16.1 possesions @ 69.1% with 2.4 clangers, 4.2 tackles, 2.3 clearances, 1.6 1% per game, 10 goals

Eddie Betts @ $101
2014 statistics. 22 games. 13.4 possessions @ 65% with 1.8 clangers, 3.4 tackles, 1.4 clearances, 1.0 1% per game, 51 goals.

Surely Eddie Betts had a far superior season. Their other statistics are somewhat similar other than the fact that Eddie kicked 50 goals!
He is in the 40man AA squad and it wouldn't be unreasonable to put him in the AA forward pocket after kicking 50. Toss him up with Bruest.

a few of the boys have already organised off season trips, eg golf trip and las vegas. when would they have booked the holidays? i would hope after the last west coast game, although that seems a pretty short time to organise a holiday.

Yeah, well . . . . .

A pretty big call form Brendon Goddard calling other clubs "unethical" trying to poach Essendon players.

He obviously is unaware of what transpired at the club before his arrival!

I think you might be drawing a long bow here. The entire club could come under criticism then because of the best and fairest dinner? That would arguably be harder to plan than a holiday? You can easily enough book a flight and accommodation to go wherever you want in the world in a few hours really, particularly when you have "finished" work it's not like you have anything else to do. :)

To be fair, I've organised holidays (both overseas and domestic) in less than a week. Wouldn't look too far into it.

Especially if you've got the bank to throw around at last minute bookings like a bunch of young blokes living together with no kids or mortgages would have.

Also, They may of just had deposits down and then fully committed to them after we got rolled by left coast.

Losing a deposit would be a small price to pay for making finals.

First pics of K in his Reds gear!

As an ex-Essendon member and fan, **** I'm happy with the court ruling today. Essendon ruined this sport for me, and the Gold Coast brought me back.

James Hird is a dirty little prick, and Paul Little is just as bad. The whole club needs to be given the boot. Unfortunately, the players will be the ones paying the price.

Essendon are a disgrace but the AFL has to field 18 teams to meet its obligations under the TV contract so expect any bans to be minimal, if you doubt me look at the Tippett / Crows saga and the Demons tanking debacle, the AFL couldn't sweep it under the rug fast enough.

So in theory - if you could relegate essendon for a year and call up one non-AFL aligned VFL/SANFL/NEAFL/WAFL/TSL/NTFL/USAFL team who would you elevate and why?

To clarify, I was meaning everyone in the club. CEO, president, all coaches, etc - not the club itself being removed from the league.

To answer your question though, it'd be the NT Thunder. They've got some scary talent, and while they'd definitely be destroyed by AFL teams, it'd be interesting to see how the SA/Vic clubs deal with the heat and humidity up in Darwin. It'd be a great year!

how bout that port hawks game eh? the last 10 minutes were bloody exhilarating.
We are probably no chance of getting him but I'd love to get young Will Langford for the Hawks, he is a beauty. I've seen him a number of times now and his ability to win the contested ball is absolute A Grade. He was the one putting his hand up tonight when some of his more high profile teammates were not performing.

This is a bit of a vent but I find it really annoying when Bluely makes excuses like "They haven't hit a 80 games yet so we can't expect to much from them" (or something to that effect.) Like Matt Shaw or some of our "fringe" player are going to magically become amazing contributors after 80ish games and some preseasons. Will Langford is a first year player and was almost best on ground for the Hawks yesterday. Jager was a first year player and came up 3rd in our best and fairest, KK has looked at home in his first season.

Mindlessly pumping games into players thinking they'll automatically get better doesn't necessarily work. Imo the club should always field the best available team and make less excuses for our on field performances.

End rant. :p
