If your not willing to sit through the shit then the good times you are not deserving of I'm afraid. I don't believe we are plastic at all and no matter how shitty this gets I'll stay loyal and proud. Changes are needed though. Especially in the captaincy, so I agree there.

Sorry to see you go despite our differences.

Hey guys and gals,

I just wanted to formally say goodbye to you all. I won't go into details about where my head is at, suffice to say that the Suns have lost me.

The timing is terrible, but last weekend was going to be a litmus test for me. Unfortunately, the club's true colours came through again.

This isn't a stab at any one of you however, we truly are a soulless plastic franchise. We've had half a decade, more, for a true sense of self to form, however it just hasn't come. What do we stand for? Actions speak so much louder than words and from the top down there is just not enough passion. What do we represent? What are our morals? I'd ask you to truly reflect on this. I have asked a few Suns fans and all they can come up with is corporate slogans. This has permeated through to the supporters which has led to a distinct sense of malaise around the club - internally and externally.

I've been through all the bad years and I honestly do not care if we lose - as long as we have a go. Sadly, we just don't care. No real football club allows what happened on Saturday night to happen. The Captain isn't a true leader (incredible player) and no one else cares. It just makes you want to shake them and tell them to wake up and give a shit. The ultimate slap in the face is watching your captain laugh and joke after the game with the opposition. I don't care if they're your best mates - people have travelled from miles away to watch you play. This type of thing happens far too often.

It's just my personal opinion of course and I genuinely hope that the Suns can develop a soul going forward and they begin to win and bring you joy.

I've put a lot of you offside over the journey, and for that I'm sorry. On the whole I've genuinely enjoyed conversing with you all around our shared passion.

Special mention to TheSunGod who's opinion I looked forward to and genuinely took on board, Matchu who's detail and sensibility always brings clarity, Sunny_ who's efforts and level-headedness was always appreciated and my co-host SUNS who I formed a genuine friendship with early days.

Anyway, this has turned a bit 'me, me, me' so I'll shut it down. I just wanted to say goodbye and wish you all the best going forward, as the Suns and this board has been a massive part of my life for the better part of the last decade.
You will be missed... You are one of the main reasons I got involved in this posting lark... Used to just enjoy reading your intelligent posts that were laced with surliness and screamed of confrontation! Treated everyone equally...
Never say never Darkwing, you will not just be welcome but celebrated should you return.

I wonder how many more have dropped off but not had DWDs balls ( no Concheta pun intended) to give their reasons.

I wanted to put my fist through DWDs head a couple of times over the years but in the end I tip my hat to you Sir.,

lol thank **** for that

if it were Sunny or Matchu or someone, i'd honestly be sad. but it's only darkwingduck, so life goes on

Got to admit it is hard being a supporter of this club , every time we sense something good about to happen we get a cricket bat to the back of the head and put back into our box , but as others have said all we can do is stick fat and hope the club knows what its doing . It is frustrating for all of us that after 6 seasons we are still getting these 100 pt drubbings , it is deflating , but there is bright skies around the corner .

Had the balls? Sticking with your club through bad times sounds more brave to me. Quitting when it's all too hard doesn't sound like having "balls".

I hear you, I was talking about balls to tell us why rather than just disappear

The only thing keeping me going is the fact that Tom Lynch re-signed. He's the heart and soul of our club and needs to be captain next year. Without Lynch, we're nothing.
So I guess that make Lemmons the arthritic hip

Does it really take balls to post anonymously on an online forum? Haha

No offence DWD but one the last things I'd call it is ballsy. As I said I do wish you all the best. All is fair in love and warfare.

Just realised who Ashcrofts behaviour reminds me of

"The players had an honesty session and it was very productive"

"Prestia is fine"

"We still believe we can make finals"

"We're going to make a big play for some free agents"

Wow that's a bit of a surprise DWD although I have noticed you don't seem to post as much these days. I hope you are OK personally. We're all gutted by last Saturday night's abysmal effort and I imagine a lot of us are angry with the players. Each to their own but giving up on them now is not what's needed IMO. Take a break if that's what you need. I felt like it yesterday but this club's like a car crash - you want to look away but you just can't.

I can't agree with you re: the plastic franchise and lacking a soul bit though. Every club has had games like that. Shit I used to support the Bears who did it just about every second week for years. We are just the same as every club except we lack the history of the established clubs. In my experience there's more soul to be found in the smaller things than the bigger things. And with our small supporter base we are the soul. Anyway I hope you're OK and we see you back soon :)

I agree to a degree. There are a few players that do stick out as truly great finds: Saad, Lynch, Hall, and May are my favourite Suns players (players that the club saw something great within when we recruited them and for the most part are now consistent performers). Saad was such a great find. Hall was such a great turnaround from a player that looked like being delisted. I hope that we can turn Martin, Miller, and Wright into consistent performers, too.

I think we have seen the best of Gary Ablett, and from now on he'll be a serviceable, solid player, his best appearing in flashes or in the odd game where he dominates unexpectedly (much like Judd during his twilight years at Carlton). It's a shame, but that's my honest belief.

I know we're all probably disheartened by the latest loss against Geelong (120-points is downright ugly), but I grew up as a Hawks supporter during the '90s. It gets better. I can't say we'll win a premiership in the next five years, but I know that we'll have a shot at it eventually.

P.S. I didn't like Gary Ablett having a laugh after the game. We were flogged. I understand he was chatting to old team mates, but it really showed how little he's invested in our club. He looked close to tears when the Hawks beat Geelong in 2008. Lynch looked close to tears in this game, and that really stood out to me, that was a sign of actually giving a crap about winning. Did you see Luke Hodge's face after the Hawks lost to GWS? That's what I want in a captain. I want a captain that's heartbroken when they lose a game of football and feels absolutely in love with winning.

Chumps sell low and buy high
I'm still betting on my investment in the Suns
Enjoy your retirement
Like a lot of others I enjoyed your posting over the years
