Not concerned at all with any of those points. In terms of games played, he's actually at the medium level of the scale compared to some of the others because of his injuries last year. Granted he has played in the middle more than most of our youngsters, but his break last year would have given his body time to recover.

His DE is always going to be low-ish because he's a clearance player who gets most of his possessions among three or four opponents, and the objective is just to hack it clear. However, his kicking does need some work. Probably his only flaw.

I think he's become far more defensive minded this year. He's still averaging 19 touches, but he's now averaging over 5 tackles a game. Still has the class though. His one-touch players are unbelievable to watch.

So yeah, not worried in the slightest. Has set up quite a few of our plays leading to scores.

Don't get me wrong, he is a fantastic player, and happy with his development. But he is been bashing and crashing against men since he was 17/18 if not earlier more than any other of our youngsters in my opinion - will it take a toll later in his career as it appeared to on Fraser?

I swear, if I see another North person raving about David one more time, they're getting a card. Sick of it.

Its ok Sunny ignore it, they have their own backyard to worry about it. Considering we're beating them on the ladder currently, and in that time we've proven to be fitter, and mentally tougher already compared to Norf ;)

So has Joel Selwood, and he's been right so far. ;)

Fraser was a bit different in that he was really relied on in a position that is far more crash and bash than the modern midfielder. Fraser was also undersized, both height-wise and weight-wise. Combine this with the ruck rules back in early 2000 were far more physical, and it's not a good thing.

Obviously Swallow is in contested situations, but bumps and hits are looked at far more closely these days. Add onto that, Swallow's had a man's body and has been similar size to the men around him since 18. At the moment (2013), he looks bigger than guys like Selwood, Kennedy and perhaps even his brother.

Thankyou. The chances of David going to that irrelevant shite hole they call North are slim to none, who in their right mind would want to go there lol

I have not a single worry about David. Why does everyone get on his back atm? Aside from his average disposal he is doing really well, his defensive work is awesome.

If we look at the averages of some of the superstars of the game were they much different in their third year? (second injury free).

The other thing with Fraser is he was Collingwoods main ruck. David isnt our best midfielder (lol obviously, GAJ says hi) and he gets the necessary rotations in a game.

This is a vent on our D Swallow, or perhaps a management of our Dave...was a bit concerned with his performance on Saturday against the Lions. Was probably his worst game in the jumper in my opinion.

Have we thrown one of our prized recruits into the fire at 18years and will we burn him out before 30? Was thinking along the lines of Fraser how he was a #1 pick and thrown straight at the coalface in the ruck from the get go. Dave is a contested ball/ 1%er type player but as much as I want him to be a 300gamer for us, will he make it that far? Similar to a Judd as well in that respect but Juddy had probably a bit more help around the contest in his younger days.

Thoughts?

wasnt there a 15yo that played AFL and continued on to become a legend? "if youre good enough, youre old enough".

I watched him on the weekend vs brisbane and he does so much "team running" defensively it was amazing, probably runs the hardest defensively in the team in my opinion. His touches are also very classy, I think he need more help on the inside so he can play his outside game more.

Yeah I agree possibly one of the most unselfish and disciplined players at our club

Well said, I agree.

Gerard bloody Healy 'I know everything - condescending - elitist' piece of poop has forced me to mute the tv and watch the second quarter in silence. The tipping point? "The Gold Coast really need to find a second string to their bow. Gary Ablett can't do everything".
Really mate? Really? You'd just finished sucking up Dicko and Prestia's ..... You're supposed to be a bloody commentator, not an opposition fan who's trolling us. Jesus.

Also, can we buy a damn free kick tonight? Far out.

Also, STOP BLOODY BALL-WATCHING AND ZONE OFF OR STAY ON YOUR MAN. Get out of no-man's-land for Christ sake.

I hate people who complain about free kicks but Jesus Christ this is something else. I get scared every time I see a pack cos they always get a free.

Some good efforts but something has to change ...

I'm starting to run out of patience with some characters ..
-Rischitelli - Once again - a singular lack of intensity.
-Prestia - I don't want another "Josh Caddy 2012 part II" - Sign contract extension soon or play in the 2's. S** or get off the pan mate!
-Shaw - Your continuous fumbling is starting to bother me.

Other people are irking me to some degree .. but we'll see what happens.

Next 4 games are critical (to state the bleeding obvious) - If we are 1/8 - I think trouble is looming for bluey.

I agree with 90% of this. I dont agree with Prestia though, up to this week he has been fantastic and he wasnt awful today.. just a bit slow. So lets not get too carried away with knee jerk reactions. I also do not think Bluey is in trouble. If we lose next week though then god help me I will drink myself in to a stuper.

Rischitelli gives me the shits. I get the feeling he isnt happy.

Agree on Rischa. :( He doesn't look happy, which is a shame to see.

I've been a mega staunch supporter of Shaw, but his start this year hasn't been flash. For every blistering offensive pass he makes, he makes just as many fumbles. Unfortunately these awesome passes are becoming fewer and fewer. Not sure he made any tonight, but he certainly over-ran the rolling ball quite a lot.

Shaw would improve quite a lot if he could keep his feet more. Its amazing how often he just drops to his knees. Please avoid the innuendo in my statement.

Where do we go with Rischa from here?

We CANNOT let Bluey go before the end of season 2014 at a minimum. Because that would signal another rebuild. And we simply can't afford to do that.

I agree 110%. He has not shown nearly enough rubbish to suggest being sacked anyway. Hopefully we can put down tonight to one of those games where shit just doesnt come together. I actually quite like Bluey as a coach anywho.

Try and trade him, or just delist him for mine.

He is borderline delisting material at the moment. It pains me to say that.

Look - I want Prestia to re-sign with us - I think he is a brilliant player. But it pissed me off last year big time that we played Caddy all year, basically just to keep the little Mammas boy happy .. then he pissed off anyway. Time to play hardball wuth Prestia rather than let the same situation fester all year.
