Hey, I come in peace.

Can't sleep. You know that last bit of a cold where you lie horizontal and just have that annoying sleep-destroying cough that won't FO? Lame.

Decided to have a read of you guys' thoughts and give a Port perspective because it beats watching ABC24 or the latest infomercial for the AbGasm.

All the non-Vic clubs have gone through it. It sucks. Even in our own state we get torn down and derided as 'Port Power' and get accused of everything from being five minutes old, to 'stealing the real Port's history/identity' to rorting the system to get second-generation players Warren Tredrea and Peter Burgoyne.

Start humiliating the old guard and it will die down and ramp up in equal measure.

Screw'em, you know who you are and that's ultimately all that matters.

It must've been frustrating, I hate when it happens to us, but the main perpetrators - Schulz, Wingard and Hartlett - are insanely skilled by foot and do that pretty much every week. Dead-eyed dicks.

If the likes of Cassisi or O'Shea started dobbing them from all angles or 55m out I'd be right there beside you with the 'oh GTFO' and '*...*'.

I must admit that despite coming off a 6-day break to your 7 and playing away from home it was surprising how gassed we were compared to you guys. The impact of ex-Liverpool fitness guru Darren Burgess on our resurgence has been well-documented and that was the first final quarter we've lost all year. Was also impressed with your determination even with the game gone. I'm glad Hinkley will have a lot of film to show any expanding heads.

It goes without saying that if you can tighten up after quarter time and stay within striking distance with 30-40 minutes left you'll run over a lot of sides up there.

Cheers all.

Thanks for your input Tribey, I think you....wait, there's an AbGasm??

Now now! You know I said you only get paid if you give a sneaky reach around
Boy, That escalated quickly...

Any chance that Sunny_ can change this from a vent thread to an off topic/vent thread. I think the original purpose has flown the coop! Better yet change the name to Aisle 208 (or whatever the upper deck in front of the members bar where the yelling mustache'd guy sits) and be done with it, haha.

got a link to the story Big Red Machine ? i had a look online and couldnt find it..
was on the back page and page 62/63 of today's paper, one of the work guys brought it in.

I guess half the NSW NRL teams should fold as well then. I think the pro-NRL Courier Mail sometimes forget that the Broncos are the exception rather than the rule as far as membership and game attendances go in the NRL.
I know for a fact that the attendance at places like Brookvale, Redfern and Wollongong (Don't get me wrong, I LOVE going to games at WIN Stadium) aren't all that crash hot.

Those losers masquerading as journalists are at it again. Check out the following quote from a piece on the Giants -

The majority of the competition has admired the way that GWS played its football in 2012. Its hard, contested brand of football stood the Giants in good stead in their first year in the AFL. They have been taught well by the likes of Alan McConnell and Mark Williams (now developing the re-emerging Tigers) to give a strong effort and be fierce in their attack. This has meant that, apart from a couple of occasions, they have not been blown away on the scoreboard by some of the margins that the Suns have suffered.

As I pointed out in the GWS - Miles Ahead?? thread, this is total bullshit -

GCS - 2 Seasons - 6 wins, 38 losses; GWS - 1 Season - 2 wins, 20 losses;
First Year Percentage - GCS - 56.27%; GWS - 46.17%;
100 point floggings - GCS (2011 - 3) + (2012 - 1) = total of 4; GWS (2012 = 5 Alone).

How could the editor at The Age of all newspapers let such blatant lies be published and propagated? I've found a recent photo of the writer and editor together that may explain it -

So I run (literally) home from a uni exam to see its half time and were up by 26 odd. BEAUTIFUL ! only to watch a whole half time show of giants highlights and talk.

Also had to LOL at the commentators change in tune regarding our KP players by the end of the game.

commentators are a mob of grubs...

and if referees in the NRL and AFL were investigated for corruption instead of players, im pretty bloody sure more convictions would be recorded....

ever wondered why video refs dont see what you see?

if i was a gangster i wouldnt target players, id target REFS......!! make sense?

wouldnt you?

David King at the crows v blues game, our game was brought up, he didn't really comment aside from saying GWS a little disappointing the past few weeks.

Makes sense, can do.

I know I do when I am corrupting a result :)

It will be interesting to see how most of the moronic "experts" view GCS win over GWS.

I really think most of the "experts" have no idea on how GCS is developing as a club. Their lazy research will focus on Ablett, Dixon and Smith.

I imagine a significant amount of time will be spent looking at what GWS did wrong, not what GCs did right.

Sure GCS will not win the premiership and it is unlikely we will win more than 6 games for 2013. However blind freddy could see the club is developing and will continue to improve with more game time.

Can we please play swallow in the midfield?? I know he's doing well in the backline but he's all class and we need his kicking/handball skills through the midfield. Also shaw is still my favourite whipping boy. Hunt starting to really annoy me, is more likely to point were people should run then run himself and 2 disposals at half time?? Get out of the way and let one of our gun mids have a go please.

With you 100 per cent.
K Hunt would not get a game in any other team - sorry not being nasty but 7 disposals playing in the mid field is not good enough. Most other clubs mids get 20 plus disposals and that is how I judge ours. I know he has been good for the game etc etc and he does some good things but when do we decide to win games and play our best 22 every week and stop gifting games. I have a problem with Risch also. He looks too slow for our style of game and holds us back at times.
Get the team right put the best players in the key positions and make changes to the other positions left. Honestly some of our players are just not getting their hands on the ball nearly enough but are in the team week in week out. Think some clubs set KPI's on their mids of 20 to 30 posseys a game and they have to maintain them. Now I am not saying we are anywhere near that but honestly 7 is not on.
Rumblings around the club about Bluey are surfacing again and he could be under the pump soon if we lose too many and by large margins. The players did not look passionate last night and we had far too many ball watchers. We need to play our best 22 every week and stop gifting games to high profile players, coaches favourites or kids that may have some potential in years to come.
The best way to keep supporters and sponsors happy and on board is winning. Make the hard call Bluey play your best 22 in their correct positions and leave them there. (bar injuries of course).

Yeah.......... Hunt hasn't played in the midfield for a few weeks now. And the fact that you're judging players on how many touches they get says it all. I can GUARANTEE you that NO clubs set possessions as a KPI. Cast iron, stone cold, dead set guarantee.

He's been running through the midfield a bit, mainly the first half this week and a fair bit last week. We have better small forwards imo, if that's what he's moulding into. Also interested as to where you people calling for blueys head after this game. Haven't read anything big footy. (Just saying lol)

He would've played 80%+ in his new forward role. I actually like him there haha! I think he provides a real outlet. He has been used as a decoy to create space, as a bullocking 'next in' midfielder, and natural forward flanker in his new role. Personally I've lied him there. I reckon he's been more consistent since he went there than our other small forwards (fish, hall..).
