Matchu see we are not in your other teams list any more? Boycotted us already mate?

In other news though it was pretty funny seeing Matchu get pissed off for the first time on BF on the main board :D

Not until they build an entire training field.
Here you go smart arse

My internet goes down for a while and I miss all this action...

I tweeted Dan early yesterday, and just said glad he is still around and hope to see him playing down in Melbourne this year for the Suns. Glad to still have seems well liked by the playing group, hopefully this fires the man up, and he can have a break out year for us.

He always came across as a douchebag and a tryhard in the Suns TV videos, but I saw him at Metricon one day signing a guernsey of a young girl, and he got down on his knees and had a chat to her, which says a lot about someone imo. Can't be all bad

Everyone has acted like a dick at least once in their lives. To be permanently labelled one for one incident that in retrospect he could have just handled better is unfair. The main thing for Dan is that he learns from it. The lesson for Dan in this instance would probably be to stay the **** away from social media or at least think very carefully about the implications of what he's about to post.

I'd usually agree, but this reflects very badly on the Suns. He's a contracted player who has requested a trade half way through his contract. We have no obligation to trade him, and after the deal ending up falling through, he went to the ****ing media to 'explain' things. He looks like a total moron, and his immaturity and disrespect to his and our club is embarrassing.

Perhaps if he were at the end of the contract and ended up getting delisted, then MAYBE I could understand publicly whinging like he has, but as a player for the Suns, this comes straight back to us, and it makes us look like tools to have him as a player.

It's a total joke. Needs a new manager.

In an age where everything goes viral in a split second it shows how important it is to think carefully about what is posted online.

The media fight each other for "exclusives" and always make a mountain out of a mole hill. Maybe if Gorringe had his time over again he might do things differently, but it is hardly worth hanging the bloke for venting.

I don't think anyone can honestly begrudge a player at exploring options in regards to their playing opportunities and being be closer to their family.

Daniel Gorringe is a professional footballer and would be a fool if he did not look after his own interests.

It makes me cringe when "Loyalty" is mentioned for AFL footballers. For every player that decides to leave his club, another 20 are traded or delisted.

This is the modern era, so people have no choice but to get accustomed to player movement. I don't hear any GCS supporters complaining about Ablett and company moving to the Gold Coast.

That's a poor excuse. They aren't children. In Gorringe's case, he was out of contract at the end of last year and had the option of moving home. He signed with us for two years. I can and I will begrudge a player who tries to weasel their way out of a contract with pissy excuses.

I don't think it reflects badly on us, more on Dan, Port (for 100% promising to get him there and failing) and his manager. The Suns can't be blamed for wanting a fair trade.
We definitely can't be blamed, but it is bad publicity nonetheless.

Just saw on Facebook that news.com.au is reporting Gorringe's outburst now. We are eliminating possible fans if they see our club as sooks based on his actions. Pathetic behaviour.

Should take a leaf out of Jack Riewoldt's book.

i had a quick search on twitter last night, and a fair few people were talking about it. add to that the news.com.au articles and other main publications picking up on it, the reach this story has probably had is quite large. :s

Really? First thing when all of this came about wasn't 'Wow the Suns have a really bad culture' or anything even remotely to do with the Suns, I only really hoped that they took him aside and helped him improve the way he composed himself to the media (and seriously, I think the worst thing I've heard about the Suns in their history is about Guy and even then I'd say that's a very, very disputed topic with no right answer - it seems Gold Coast have a respectable side of respectful players).

Honestly, I think Suns with Gazza, O'Meara and Bennell and a few others will be able to take him aside, give him a quick word about the way he composes himself and go from there. I mean, overall I think 100% that something has occurred that has made him feel frustrated with the way things have panned out, but his career isn't in absolute tatters or anything of the sort and as a Pear fan I don't think he's the absolute devil. BUT, this really REALLY shows the potential danger of saying that you want to go home mid contract - it can blow up right in your face and make you look like a fool. Its a risk - and he suffered the bad side of it. He just needs to keep his mouth shut for the following year, be humble and be grateful in the event that the Suns choose to give him a contract extension next season.

Sweet Idea won in Melbourne today. Campbell Brown will be living it up somewhere.

He signed a contract and before a ball has been bounced into it, its reported Hinkley & Port were in his ear talking up a return. Piss poor form if that's correct. You have to wonder what effect that had on his year. He's allowed to request a trade mid contract just like Beams did for family reasons and Hallahan did for more opportunity. He has handled it poorly but I take the kid at his word all the same. I'd be surprised if he doesn't put his head down and make a point. More than happy to still have him and glad we didn't give him away for free. The club again has excelled with their handling of it.

The best and easiest way to get home to south australia is to play some unbelievable football in 2015!
Make every club stand up and want him..
Offering pick 37 and letting him hang out to dry like that.. Doesnt sound like they were all to fussed about getting him..
Hope he shoves it in there face and kicks 30 goals this season playing forward and ruck role similar to Sam Day

Yeah well I hope we don't get reamed in a trade in that event, we have been excellent so far
