And they are now stating 2017 for the new facilities move. Guessing the 2-month delay to December is delayed again?

Could have had something to do with the month long union go slow in the middle of the build to hold the builders to ransom or it could just be the golden pay check is coming to an end and they are milking it for every penny

Agree, this is the great union lie, it is the greedy tactics that see building grind to a halt because of the insane demands that in the end cost the very jobs they are supposed to protect.

I can virtually guarantee that has nothing to do with unions and everything to do with wages

We could have manufacturing in Australia but many people would have to sacrifice a higher quality of lifestyle

I don't think that's any more than a politically convenient narrative to be honest

I don't have any figures at the moment to justify what I'm about to say, but I'm quietly confident that you could drive down wages in Australia significantly and it still wouldn't make a dent in our competitiveness in manufacturing

Manufacturing goes where the bottom line (usually wages) is the lowest, and that's why much of it is in China

Good for profit margins, good for 'number of employed persons', not good for quality of living of the employees

I will confess that I am left leaning though
