All the keyboard warriors have taken Aaron Hall off their hit list this week.

I wonder how long before the "expert couch potatoes" list Hall as the "Spud of the Week".

I still rate him as a downhill skier, doesnt play well unless its been fed out of the contest by someone else, and his 2 way running is still abysmal. He is a cherry on top sort of player, not the cake or even the cream

Yeah he's still a downhill skier get back to me when he's has more contested possession in a game then uncontested.
By the way are you his brother ? The one who sends the lovely private message to Suns fans on Facebook saying hes going to bash them at the next home game ?

Yep Hall is the measure of the team really. If he is playing well, then most likely the team is playing well and we are winning, and his run is hard to stop. And when he is like that it is pointless to try and tag him as he will burn just about anyone in the league with his pace, especially if he is getting fed the ball like he has recently. His tackling seems to be improving as well which is a positive.

I dont think anyone has had a bad word to say about him since the GWS game which was IMO the worst game I have ever seen him play (hes not alone there though), and that includes games before he 'broke out' and was barely in the 22. But compared to other teams boards on here, Suns fans are fairly mild. Prestia and Schade have already copped it as bad/worse by their supporters then any Sun just about, and that was based on 1 game where they played average.

Firstly I can assure you I am no relation to Aaron Hall.

Secondly I would never threaten anyone on any level which includes facebook.

I assume by your critique of Hall that you would not pick him the GCS best 22 and would look at off loading him with a year (2018) to go on his contract.

Hall like any footballer has his strengths and weaknesses. Additionally he will play games that range from stinkers to outstanding, as was evident in the first 3 games of 2016 (9 Brownlow votes) to when he was dropped during the season.

However Hall brings the "X" factor to the side and with his pace creates opportunities for his team mates.

By your analysis of contested/uncontested possession games I am not sure many players in the modern game would be fit your classification and be worthy of a game.

none of us here are doubting his talent, what im trying to say is that he isnt the sort of player to build a team around. He is the player you have when you have a good lot of inside midfielder because he thrives when someone else does the work at the coalface. Swallow, Barlow and Lyons are the reason Hall will play good games, and there is nothing wrong with that, thats how footy works.
Its just his defensive deficiencys that infuriate us because he can cost us goals with his none repeat efforts with tackling and chasing.

From the AFL app -

Moving up
AARON HALL
2015 pre-season:
203
Now: 41

Despite being dropped last year for a stint in the NEAFL, Hall has established himself as an eye-catching midfielder. He sits fifth in the competition for metres gained since the start of 2016. Meanwhile, his retention rate is the best of all players in the top-10 for metres gained in that time.

He is a real weapon that occasionally backfires with a poor game.

Never said he wasn't best 22, I just said he's not a team player, it's his way or the highway, he's very lazy and selfish and not very well liked by his teammates because of that.
If he wasn't so up himself and worked on his defensive pressure and his cashing and worked on the contested side of his game he could easily be top 5 in the comp

Just did a quick check on "Footy Live" regarding tackles for 2017. I looked at players who had played the 7 games in 2017 and listed their total tackle count.
Ablett - 40
Miller - 26
Witts - 24
Martin - 17
Saad - 17
Hall - 16
Joyce - 13
Wright - 12
Sexton - 9
Lynch - 9

Depending on your narrative statistics can be used to justify any opinion.

However while Hall is in the middle of this list they are not so low that they stick out like the proverbial.

Just reading your comments I could say that Barlow does not give the run and burst of Hall so his input to the team is limited. In reality he plays his role and is a valuable player in the team.

Additionally Lynch does not tackle enough and could be labelled as not putting in. The fact is he is the best big forward in the game and in my humble opinion would be the first choice of any club in the competition.

Every player has their limitation and also has to play their role in the team.

I sought of think the coaches impart their game plan to their players and hence they drop players when their form is down or do not follow instructions (when Hall was dropped in 2016).

I consider Hall an important player in the GCS team as do the coaching staff.

However the beauty of BF posters is that we all have an opinion.

Hall is an important player. There's no way to justify he isn't. His metres gained stats are fantastic. When we are feeding him ball he does a lot of damage. Not every player has to be an inside beast.

Totally agree.

Totally agree.
I should add that if he is a bit of a campaigner then that's not good but hey there's a lot of campaigners that are great players. Goddard is a prime example. Will never forget that GF hanger against Collingwood.

Hall kicking when he is 'off' is infuriating, but when he is up and going his kicking can be a thing of beauty and really break the game open. You have to give credit to a bloke who is prepared to rip a dangerous kick into the corridor multiple times a game when the result of a mis-kick is generally a quick goal the other way. Alot of players simply don't have the skill or the nuts to do it.

Will always be a player who is flying when the team is up and about but twice as ordinary when the team is down. Im hopeful that we can start producing more consistent footy as a team and Hall can produce more of the good stuff!!

After a good win, all players are off the hit list. That goes with all clubs.
Players with a massive gap between their best and their worst will be a frustration for their fans and Hall fits into that category.
You're an unabashed Hall fan and that's fine but that doesn't mean other fans can't be critical at times. He was outstanding on the weekend, but extremely poor the week before. That's Aaron.

Hally plays more good games than bad these days. It was the opposite a couple of years ago.

He's a fast outside goal kicking midfielder. Very important in our game plan. Has now added tackling pressure to his game.

More 2-way running, following his man into the defensive 50 is something I'd like to see more from him. But I can notice he is working on this as well.

But there aren't many perfect football players out there that can do it all.

If he fixed all his deficiencies he'd be a brownlow medallist.

He's still an A-grade outside mid, and honestly the combination of him and Hanley is something I'd rather keep than not keep.
