Being a kicker for the Buccs is like having the no.1 jumper for the Suns , there’s something evil about it.

It was the same for my Gators. But Piniero turned that around haha

We are one RB away from giving Jameis the most weapons in the NFL. Triple threat in WR's with Evans, Godwin and Jackson. Our Tight End duo in OJ and Brate are top 5 in the league, if not higher.

Just need a nice duel threat RB and we will be making tracks.

How about the additions to our D-Line though.

THE MCG will be the home of the Grand Final until at least 2057 under a mega-deal with the Victorian government expected to be announced on Friday.

What a load of sh*t........If this indigenous game of ours takes off Australia wide in the next 10 yrs or so,as it will, encompassing all states and territories, how short sighted is it of the AFL ( or should it be VFL) to give the MCG Grand Final rights for the next 40 yrs....

Nothing the Vics do amazes me anymore, and this is no different.....

Disagree i think the biggest stadium should hold it. The MCG is the home of football as well.

In 40 yrs will it still be the biggest stadium......I don't know if it will, do you......

and to make my point a bit further re Vics owning the AFL.....

“This is for the fans - giving them the best venues, better access to the sports they love, and keeping the Grand Final where it belongs - at the MCG - for the next 40 years,” Premier Daniel Andrews said in a statement..........................yep that's fine Daniel, as long as they live in Victoria

I've always thought AFL stood for AUSTRALIAN FOOTBALL LEAGUE.......but obviously I've been wrong all these years...

Yeah Disagree the Grand Final should always be played at the biggest and best stadium in footy and that will always be the MCG

I wouldn't of minded it going between MCG, Adelaide Oval, Optus Stadium. What is this obsession with the stadium with the most seats having to host it?

60k seats is plenty to host the GF.
When clubs are already starting to crack 90k members the grand final will need to be played at the biggest stadium possible and that will always be the MCG.

Each clubs gets about 40 thousand tickets then afl need at least 20 for corpret/sponsors

Right now you're correct....but this is for 40 yrs......which to me. means that Interstate teams, for the next 40 yrs, will always be at a disadvantage. That doesn't necessarily mean Interstate teams can't win there, but geez it's a helluva leg up to the Melb teams who have MCG as their home ground.....for 40 yrs

You keep saying that will ALWAYS be the MCG.....do you have some inside info...

Because in the plans that should be announced Friday the great southern stand at the mcg will be redevelopedView attachment 482304

Then you could well be right......but doesn't change my view that the AFL as it currently stands, is not a fair and even competition....and to award any venue sole rights for 40 yrs, means, to me, that nothing will change to alter that, over the next 40 yrs........thank gawd, I won't be here to see it....

The ONLY way I see that this can even remotely be made fair is if an interstate club is the higher ranked team then they get first dibs on tickets. Eg if last year gf is an example the Crows were the higher finishing team and as such should be allocated as many tickets as they can sell ( let’s say 50k) this would then help even the crowd and reduce the home ground advantage

It can't be made fair
You might grit your teeth if it was 10 years
But 40 years
Given the first the Clubs heard of it was yesterday presumably the Interstate Alliance has been sold it fait d'accomplis by the CEO of Women's Sport Gil

The Victorian government will make sure it's always the biggest (and in my opinion, the best) it's too important to the government and the Melbourne culture

I have no issue with the GF being at the MCG. It’s the home of Footy and the best stadium in the world.

Yeah this, you have to remember that there are 8 teams from outside Victoria, We just need to make sure that the Grand Finals are between two non Vic teams. Then watch their idiotic smugness get slapped from their faces.

Victoria is the home of AFL, no doubt. Melbourne has 9 teams out of 18, then there's Geelong down the highway about an hour away, plus the relocated Franchises in Sydney and Brisbane. In fact, the latter non-Melbourne clubs I mentioned have won 8 of the past 17 Grand Finals. Melbourne clubs hardly get a look in despite the supposed home advantage. West Coast and Port won flags in that time, while only Hawthorn, Collingwood, Richmond, and the Western Bulldogs out of the 9 Melbourne based clubs could manage to win flags.

The Suns, Giants and Dockers are new clubs, even if Freo has had a little longer in the AFL than Port it doesn't have the history. The way the AFL has set up the comp, the 4 States with two teams each have 22 games a year (sometimes more) which generated broadcasting rights cash. The creation of the AFL enabled all of this to happen, the TV coverage, the new clubs, the ever increasing popularity of the game, all of which would never have happened if the VFL hadn't marketed itself as the premier comp and expanded over the past 30 years. The Grand Final is at the G because it belongs there.

The other irrefutable argument is that the State of Victoria has spent gargantuan amounts of money to host AFL Football over the decades, so they have a vested interest in keeping it as much as the AFL and MCG do. Can you imagine having to rotate the Melbourne Cup or Australian Open Tennis? (BTW, if you want the GP, it's a dud and you can have it - 10 times better on the GC) There are sponsorship deals, broadcasting rights, stadium deals, advertising deals, funding agreements etc and the Government pays a premium because of the exposure and tourist bucks. Sound familiar, Gold Coast Commonwealth Games fans/victims?

It happens all the time. In fact, in 2004, 2005 and 2006 all GFs featured non-Vic teams and nobody cared (in 2007 the GF teams were both non-Melbourne, but again full stadium and record TV ratings). Melbourne teams have had a really good run recently, which is mostly why this whole "unfair advantage" argument has gained momentum. In 31 years since the Eagles and Bears joined the comp and it became the AFL, 12 non-Melbourne GF winners to 19 Melbourne-based winners is pretty even considering GWS has played 6 seasons, the Suns 7, and Port, Freo and the Crows only played a percentage of those years. Take away the past 6 GFs, all Melbourne winners, and the ratio was 12/13 over 25 years, which is actually skewed in favour of non-Melbourne teams.

The MCG may be the biggest, but it's certainly not the best stadium we have, that belongs to Adelaide oval.... Just saying
I went to Adelaide Oval last year for the Cricket it was an awesome stadium but not better than the MCG i reckon second although i haven't been to Optus yet.

What do you mean by the "best"
Stadiums over 80,000 ?
Because I went to the Birds Nest in Beijing and it's amazing
And in terms of stadiums over 90,000 I've been to the Cowboys stadium, Camp Nou(I didn't rate Bernebeu)Wembley all better than the MCG
I've driven past the Sapporo Dome numerous times as well- that has to rate better than the MCG
Viewing from the top stalls of the Southern Stand at the MCG is not a great experience
