There's only one thing in the AFL in worst shape than us ATM, and that's James Kelly's left testicle.

I'll disagree and say Australian Football* is in a worse shape than us.

*In Brisbane.

So what's the go with us this season? Looked alright during pre-season. I haven't seen a game yet since the season-proper began, on account of being half way around the world. But looking at the scores and stats and any video I can get my hands on, the boys just aren't putting the effort in. Is that it? Are they burned out already? It looks as though the reserves have the same issue. We haven't had that bad a run of injury have we?

Let's be honest we looked shit in preseason too.

We fell over the line against a st Kilda team we all thought would be stone last, beat sydney in our second game of the pre season and their first game of the year and then drew an under strength Gold Coast when we played our best team.

It was a no brainer, but we gave up crisp to get him, thats what hurts us, it was a fair call by Collingwood to request it, but you add crisp to the go home 5 and Aish, have we improved our list or are we jogging up and down on the spot.

You through in Aish this year and thats 7 players we have lost who would at some point or another more than likely been in our best 22.

With players getting homesick, and us having to give up players to get the home sick players to come to us, we will never improve. This is wear free agency is screwing the teams outside the 8.

We will more than likely finish bottom this year, but whats the use, the number 1 draft pick will be starting his two year count down to move on from draft day.

I don't think a salary concession is needed, we need something to make sure players want to stay, the way the rules are currently its too easy for players to walk now.
Explain this to Eddie. We need his approval before we can get the AFL to fix it

This isn't a troll post, as Brisbane is my second team - but what the hell is going on? Brisbane has a talented list, spectacular midfield, top notch ruck duo, decent back line, and a good small forward line. Obviously you're lacking a decent tall forward, but the issues we're seeing on-field don't always relate to the undersized forward line. What exactly is the issue? Coach? Motivation?

Bundy, Beams, and Robbo coming to Brissy at the end of last year improved the list by a shitload, yet the team is still struggling. Aish is hot and cold, and the Mozzie Squad is underperforming too. Maybe there's something in the Queensland air :P

I'd love to hear what people think, because it pains me to see QLD AFL in this state :(

Jamaica is to bobsled teams pre the Cool Runnings guys as to what Qld is to AFL right now

I'd like to vent that I was stupid enough to book a trip from Brisbane to Melbourne next week for the game against the blues.

I know as a pies supporter my opinion might not be welcome, but I really don't think you guys are this bad.

When you get Rockliff, Hanley and Mayes back in you guys can actually start developing as you should have done in Round 1. You still have a gun, if maybe a little overrated, midfield, and with that if you can teach them to run both ways both the attack and defense should be solid enough. This season might be tough, but look forward to the future because yours is still bright

Thanks mate :)

Ironically, my top two hated teams (you lot and Port), have oft times provided the most supportive posters to threads and concerns that resonate with me. This suggests that the community of AFL followers still exists - I can dislike you on game day, but EQUALLY wish your club success and stability.

And I use that as evidence that the game is beyond the administration currently holding the throne.

In the words of Adam Sandler in Big Daddy when he was dumped for an older guy 'who had a 5 year plan,' is the Lions 5 year plan 'what, not to die?'

Good: Nothing.
Bad: Nothing
Ugly: Everything

**** off Brisbane Lions, ****ing fold. SICK OF THIS SHIT

I've generally gone to every home game that I could get to, year in, year out - back to the Bears at Carrara days - it's always been our family thing. But I find myself just not caring anymore this year. 2015 had a heap of promise in it, and it's just... mostly gone right now. Such a disappointment. None of the players seem to have any real belief in themselves, let alone intent to work together and win.

This is a little left field, but does anyone else think that the boys are are a little full of themselves at the moment? On YouTube alone we've got Footy Fix, the Mozzie Challenge thing, Locker Talk, Hanley's Trivia, a Brew with Goose, Dogs Life, post game conferences with everyone and his dog, mid week press conferences where whoever we can get in front of the camera talks about how we need to stop talking and doing...

What happened to just playing football? Surely all of this shit is distracting. Have we just bought into our own publicity hype a bit too much?

I never thought I would EVER say this, I will not be a Lions member next year, why put in the money and effort traveling to games (which I have done twice this season already from Tasmania) if the team does not try.

All I get from my membership is feeling like crap every week, there is no more pride in my lions...
I hear you man it's so ****ing difficult following the shit we served up.

What's worse as one poster mentioned - It hurts so much because we love the club so dearly but we as supporters are starting to not care.
We face an uncertain future :(

I bought my son the full Brisbane Lions outfit for Auskick, but fortunately he is too young to realise what his father has done to him. Only Lion jumper in a sea of 5 yr old Tigers, Hawks, Pies, Cats and Blues. He said to me this morning, we are Lions daddy because they are the strongest animal. Poor kid.

haha... I recently had to track down a Paddlepop lion guernsey for my daughter because she doesnt want the fitzroy lion.

Living in Brisbane I see a fair bit of the Lions. I also went to all of their pre season games. I dont think that the list is all that bad, and as mentioned, beyond a tall forward target has potential. What I do see as a problem is the obvious game plan completely flies in the face of the players on the field and their obvious strengths. With such a relatively small midfield and forward line, the Lions should be trying to use their explosive pace with ball movement to create scoring opportunities. Instead, when the ball is in the back line they persist with the slow, short chip kick method of moving the ball out of the back line. This allows the opposition more than enough time to get numbers back and leaving you lot with absolutely nowhere to go and more often than not unsurprisingly results in a turnover !!

I am honestly worried about us not winning a game this season.. when was the last time that ****ing happened to any club? We just got thumped by a fellow winless team that was one spot above us by 10 goals for **** sake.

Barely following footy this year apart from the matches due to how angry the Lions make me, I get the 3 hours of shitty Lion's match a week and thats me done. Off season can show its ugly mug right now.

On the plus side a) my cat let himself inside before I got home last night so I didn't have to go chasing him at 1am in the morning and b) the latest artwork for my story showed up on the way home.

I think I'm more pissed off about the ressies result. They were well in that game at 3/4 time and just threw it away after that.

Life sucks.

I am very concerned for our home crowd figures for the rest of the year. The next home game against Port is a Sunday twilight game. I will be surprised if more than 10k turn up. Might have to ask if we can borrow some of their tarps for the rest of the season.
