I just meant you lot acting all high & mighty about us not having many supporters was ironic.
We had more of our supporters at your home game today, easily a 70/30 split I'd say.

Really! I must have missed the post in this thread where we said "we are a bigger team than Norf Melbourne with 70,000 members" could you point me in the right direction - otherwise GTF

Precious lot aren't they. Keep proving us correct.

Sad more like it, I think there club needs to spend some money on mental health professionals they all seem to suffer from paranoia, victim mentality, and poor sportsmanship.

Just finished watching the game.
Fadeout to be expected, but the kids have been really really good. Love it.

JJ - great effort for a first-gamer.
Talia - ^^ and nice goal, son!
Smith - worked hard.

Pearce & Howard - I've seen a few comments on here saying they did well today. I'm happy to see that.
I struggle a bit sometimes to read the game properly on the TV / Computer and I couldn't pick them out that often (if we had of won, I might consider watching it twice to pick up stuff I missed;)). I know it doesn't count for everything, but their stats look pretty decent for today.

Tutt - put in some decent runs (nearly had a nice goal from outside 50 after running hard but it wasn't to be)but overall seemed a little bit quiet.

Skinner - was actually trying today, but nothing came off. Huge leap over the pack in the 3rd for a hitout. Dunno about Zeph.

Also,
Addison - good stuff. They seemed to pay him no respect and he did well. I'd like to see more of him there, might come to nothing but after today's effort it's gotta be worth a look.
Dickson - solid.
Roughead - good game.

DJ - 3 touches after coming on as the sub? Not good.

Got flogged in the end, but somehow I don't feel that bad. I could see the effort this week throughout the team. Feels like a turning point of sorts. Even if we go on to get continuously flogged for the rest of the year (likely) I feel like I've seen a game that showed us a bit of the future.

Go dogs.

Just as an aside, I found the Dale Morris interview on the TV at halftime to be excellent. What an inspiration that guy is. I'll try and put it up on youtube for everyone to have a look at, but it could take a while as I'm staying at a hotel in Macau at the moment and the internet is disgraceful.

I loved seeing the second part of this headline in the H/S:

Drew Petrie the high point in North Melbourne's win, fans the low

:p

Wasn't able to watch nor listen to the match last night. However, after reading the comments here, I'm feeling prett-ay, prett-ay, prett-ay, pretty good about the future, at least compared to recent games. Hope springs eternal and all that stuff.

I agree with some that skinner is in trouble. He actually tried hard today, offering good leads and putting on some great forward pressure. He tackles well for such a small frame and should have had a goal had he not gave it up to Gia. Biggest probl for him is his inability to take a mark. Just never seems to hold onto them.

Loved addo's game. Just showed great strength and good forward pressure aswell. Just looked like he would mark everything.

Great debuts by jj and talia.

We had 9 players yesterday with under 15 games. We are only gonna get better.

Also anyone able to tell me why Petrie got a free after 3 quarter time. Couldn't see anything from where
I was sitting.

So you are saying only 14k Norf fans turned up to watch their team play on a sunny Saturday afternoon in a game they should expect win. Pretty ordinary outcome for a team who is likely to play finals.

Well there's a change for once

Clay smith Reminds me a lot of kieran jack. A LOT! Kicking action and all. If he can develop like jack we have a ripper on our hands.

And yes, roughie is mobile enough to play CHB permanently. Such a natural down there. He and Williams need to continue in their new roles (Williams CHF and roughie CHB).

Jj looks a real talent. Speed and penetrating kick. Who'd have thought theyre important afl skills???

Howard will be a very good player as well. He still needs another pre-season or 2 to develop more of a tank, but he's our next murphy off half-back.

Agree with you on the players mentioned. Howard's pace worries me a bit. He needs to work on that but there are some good signs with him. Not sure he's got that special talent of evasion that Murph has....few do.

My thoughts on yesterdays game.
Positives
JJ - great debut will give us speed and disposal out of the back half
Pearce - Showed some good signs and has some pace
Roughead - Great job down back on Tarrant doesn't seem to panick under pressure
Talia - Liked his debut, yes his kicking needs work but should be played the rest of the year for development.
Addison - was good up forward has good versitility
1st half and the amount of ball we generated inside f50
9 players had played 15 games or under plus another 5 that have played under 50 games Grant, Roughead, DJ, Libba, Wallis.

Negatives
something like 36 inside 50's in the 1st half for 11 scoring shots
Skinner not up to it is only a one effort player
our goal kicking at times was terrible
Our forwards don't lead and get there arms up, they just want to wrestle

What i want to see the rest of the year
Leave the kids in
give Hill or Panos a chance at full forward would be better than anyone else we have tried there.

Line up for the rest of the year.
B:Talia Lake Wood
HB: Murphy Roughead JJ
C: Tutt Boyd Libba
HF: Dalhaus Williams Gia
F: Dickson Hill Grant
FOLL: Minson Griffen Picken
INT from: Wallis Pearce Campbell Howard Addison Smith Higgins Panos Cordy Jones Vesz Austin

Yea I agree. Murphy is a real talent. The bloke can turn on a 10 cent piece. Brilliant evasion skills. I think it remarkable when Murphy is cornered, and yet still looks like he's got all the time in the world

Ah.....how I love playing Norf. Always entertaining on here. They surely must be the most insecure supporter group on here.

Back to the game.

I had a wonderful day at the footy. The warm winter sun was firmly in the face. When I arrived at my seat I was quickly advise that Williams and Sherman were out. Feeling a little bad for Tommy, I was delighted that another kid got his chance with Jenny warming up. He did well the kid. Pitted early against Hansen he competed well and kicked a goal. Hansen is not currently a super star but the first gamer kept him in check most of the day.

JJ...looked at home on the big stage. Very composed. Dylan Addison lined up forward and deserved a couple more goals. His marking was a feature. Roughy continued to impress as a defender, he moved very well down there for a big guy.

Pearce got another game wiser and while he has a bit to do he's a sound prospect. Dickson again showed he's a handful.

We got a couple of goals up, and then decided to go into our shells and not take the game on, playing safe too scared to win. Tutt, who looked out of sorts all day, marked all alone and unattended and instead of wheeling and going, stopped an propped. The kid has pace and that was the moment to use it and create the chaos that ballistic footy does.

More seasoned players did similar things at the time, not moving the ball quickly because they want the perfect option. Griff, had one such option, in space he had Campbell one out at half forward and instead of kicking it to him, he handballed backwards and the moment was lost. It's a lack of confidence.

We are not that far away. There were some guys out there yesterday that are near the end. Some who are starting out but who are also near the end. We are getting a good look at the list. Valuable games into young players and finding new roles for some along the way.

The MC need to continue down this path....and I am once again calling for Matt Panos to get his chance. I enjoyed yesterday because for the first time this year the sun came out and I could see the light.

I was waiting outside the ground and my kid asked if it was a North home game because of the lack of Bulldog supporters, I must admit I then checked the schedule on the phone just in case !!!

lol nah this is about Bulldogs supporters trying to big note their club as if they aren't a small club.

Man, you got guts...or nerve...or something not particularly intelligent...

Every time someone from another club even looks at the Norf board they get red-carded!
You come on here and expect...nothing?

If I said this stuff on the Norf board, I'd get kicked off BF!!

At least you duds are well balanced - chips on both shoulders.

To paraphrase something a Norf mod once told me:

Now hop along, little kangaroo!

Just re-watched the first half of the game.
Skinner wasn't as bad as everyone is making him out to be. He was marked very closely by his opponent. A lot of good pressure acts. I do agree with a poster above though, he is a one effort player. Sometimes he would continue and go for a second effort, but not often. Could have had a goal but gave it off to Gia instead.

He definitely needs to work on his fitness.

Who cares about North fans trolling, they are apparently a club fighting for a finals spot and despite running away at the end looked pretty bloody average (Like Richmond last night). They're just making up the numbers.

On a positive note, was great to see JJ's first game, look forward to seeing the kid develop - he certainly moves well.

Pearce did some good things, and I like Talia down back. Great size for a first year player.

Addison impressed, on workrate/courage alone he has to be in the 22. Ditto Clay Smith.

I liked Roughead down back, wish he played like that in the forward line.

J Grant did some good things, but just never looks like he wants to be out there. Not sure what will come of him. Questions will be asked of him in the off season by the coaching staff I'm sure.

Skinner - The opposite to Grant, looks like he loves being out there, but still looks very very raw. Don't think he will make it, which is unfortunate.

Libber and Wallis, loved their games.

Just wish Jonesy was in the forward line taking marks and kicking goals :/

Well, according to Matthew Lloyd there's no light at the end of the tunnel for us. We might as well pack up shop, guys :p
I wonder if he watched our games the previous weeks, and sees how much better we played yesterday, barring our inability to run out games.

Brian was holding him as the ball was coming into their forward line.

:/
I get a kick out of it. Watching these dribblers try and hide their own insecurities and project their failings onto everyone else is hilarious. It just gets annoying when there are 30k empty seats and you happen to have a handful of them in your ear, it is pathetic in real life. Funny on the interweb though.

If hypothetically you had Petrie swap sides i wonder what the result would have been, i would suspect a comfortable bulldogs win and if one player added to a team would make that big of a difference there has to be something there

The thing with Norf, is that there kids have been in the system a lot longer than ours, and I could be a bit biased as I don't like Norf much, but none of their kids stood out as absolute stars. I mean everyone notices Dahlhouse, who is Norf's Dahlhouse? Swallow is good, but he is in to his third year, and should be putting more of a stamp on the game - I mean he is the captain?

It makes me even more firmly agree with Macca' plan, so that we don't become a mediocre team, with a mediocre list, from mediocre drafts, who will finish in a mediocre spot on the ladder. We aim for a flag not just to participate.

Addison forward...wow what a game

Roughead back - the same

JJ great debut

Talia very happy as well, looked a bit like shaggy out there for me.

First half was very good, if only we had a forward we would have been a mile in front.

Not too bad effort even though we dropped right off
