yer i watch a few essondon games. i know he is very effective when he has the ball, but when he has his big 150 games he gets cheap posis everywhere over the ground. would be nice to see him run around free every week, or learn to cope with a tag.

As an Essendon supported I'd much rather see Stanton cop the hard tag then anyone else, he is one of the least damaging 30+ possession getters at the club.

This enables Lovett, Licha and Watson to dominate the game as they have done the past 2 weeks which Stanton has been tagged.

Coach K has slammed his under-performing players at a press conference following the Calgary Falcons 1595-1637 loss to BNB Redux in Round 6. The Falcons had been cruising to what looked like a certain Top 4 finish after a 3-1 start, but now find themselves clinging on to the 8 in 6th spot after back-to-back losses. They have also lost their position at the top of the overall points competition.

“Look, it’s clear a few of our boys have got ahead of themselves over the last couple of weeks,” said K – clearly angered by his sides performance. “Frankly guys like Trav (Tuck) and Andrew (Raines), albeit coming back from that knee, have been pathetic over the last three rounds. It seems as though they thought they had a guaranteed place in the side after we pumped out that 2250 a couple of weeks back. They need to learn performances like theirs are unacceptable.”

When asked about the disappointing performances of Brownlow medallists Chris Judd and James Bartel this week K was less critical. “Those guys have been stellar for us all year. Some of the young guys have to learn that Juddy can’t carry the team around on his back every week. We need our youngsters to step up”.

Asked about where it all went wrong this week K pointed out two key factors. “I think we, as a match committee, were also partly to blame. We may have been a bit arrogant in thinking we could win by copping a doughnut, but we’d done the analysis and found we were a 50 point better side than the Redux even without Jared’s (Petrenko) scores. Hindsight’s a wonderful thing, but had we played Hill instead of trading him out for Grimey we’d have got home and we might not be having this conversation”.

“The Friday night game also hurt us. We should have been 80 points up after that and only led by 40, and we’ve gone down by what…around 40? So that really got us off to a bad start.” Asked about specific moments in the game K pointed out that one coaching move had really cost his club. “Andrew Mackie was dominant in the first quarter and clearly led Harry (Taylor) [owned by Redux] in the points category. Problem was Harry was being absolutely towelled by BJ who’d already kicked three on him in a quarter and a half. So Bomber switches poor Andrew onto him who keeps BJ quiet but sacrifices his own game. Meanwhile Taylor, who is an absolute custard of an AFL player, runs around like some sort of headless chicken racking up cheap marks and kicks while adding nothing to the game.”

Next week see’s the Falcons (3-3, 6th) take on the Grinters (2-4, 10th). K was pensive about his teams chances. “A month ago I would have pencilled it in for a definite win, but in our current form… who knows. Hopefully we’ll have Hoops (Ryan Houlihan) back to add a bit of drive to out backs. We’re probably going to lose Chappy to that finger and I haven’t talked to Rodney yet about whether Higgins we’ll be right to go again with that groin.” And Travis Tuck’s career with the Falcons? “If I was him I’d be searching for another club,” K said. “We can’t afford to carry him on the bench and play two rookies, who admittedly did their job for us this week, in the9- midfield again.”

This isn't f**king fair! Bartel gets suspended, Higgins out, Gilbee in doubt.

F**k you Bartel, you ruined my ultimate plan!

u r clearly the spud for starting with cloke, suck me off
1. That is an extremely old post
2. Cloke had good signs for him:
- lead up role
- rocca likely to return to free him up
- durable
- reaching the age where bigger/KP type lpayers break out

Sure he might be a spud, but wasnt the worse selection.

And i dont think you can hack me out about it - made plenty of good selections too, and im sitting in a very nice position. But, if picking cloke means your a spud, then yes, i am a spud.

EDIT: Oh, btw, i think you misinterpretted. By saying "take that spud", i didnt mean "take that you spud", i meant, "take that spud travis cloke" - ie i was referring to cloke, not you.

Great post, man.

terry wallace is gutting me.

fine, drop raines, but cogs? are you f*cking stupid? I mean, I know you are, but are you really that stupid? Don't you play Dream Team? What else do you do in your spare time? you can't tan 24/7. ****'s sake. And why don't you drop Bowden? He's a spud. Drop him before dropping Coughlan. You should have listened to Chris & Troy.

Lakey91, you are far better a person to respond to this! Some posters just enjoy having pot shots.

I would love to know how many DT'ers almost picked him. I think there have been worse picks out there due to price and potential.

I bet that next year we are all talking about him again... and get burned again!!:D

took a punt on gibbs captain and hasnt paid of at all and now im pissed off as it will probly cost me a league win and being eliminated. early days but a bad captain choice goes a long way towards losing:thumbsdown::mad:

gibbs screwed me over as i put him captain and it will cost me a league win and being eliminated sh1t!!!

x2 F.A.R.R.K!

Can't beleive I have Goddard, Mitchell, Riewoldt, Corey, and far.king Swan to choose from and I go and listen to a couple of clowns who mention the fact that Gibbs averages X at Etihad Stadium. For far.k.e sakes, why did I listen... stupid, stupid, stupid :mad::mad:

.... Rant over

Every time i make Gibbs captain he scores shit. Every time i don't he gets 130+.

FFS for once let me pick the right captain choice. This was much easier when i had Ablett!!!!

Haha. I had Bartel as my captain every week until round 9. I feel like a genius when it comes to captain options... only downside is that I chose Cox that week when I could have chosen Swan!!!

Regardless, I have to vent something and that would definitely be... BRENNAN HAS TO PLAY, IF HE DOESN'T, I COP A 0 AND LOSE MY ELIMINATOR MATCH. Even if Brennan doesn't play, HIGGINS, DON'T LET ME DOWN.
