Completely out-coached.

1. Why the **** did we not tag Chris Yarran? Damaged us.
2. We can't play this chip short and hold onto the ball type game as we don't have anywhere near the quality to do so.
3. If you go third man up, YOU MUST EFFECT THE CONTEST. FFS
4. Do we have a defensive zone? How many times did Carlton run out of the back 50 with ease??
5. What is the forward structure?
6. Do we have any players crumbing at Ayce's feet?

I know we don't have the quality but Macca is avoiding criticism a lot here when I think he deserves a fair amount, we need to take the game on more, quicker kicks inside to Cordy and Williams.

We look like a rugby team going back and back and back and eventually hoofing it to nobody.

Rabble.

There were a few positives although...

Lake excellent, Griffen, Libba and Wallis, Dal, Grant and Tutt.

DJ came on as a sub and he chased like he had played 7 games in 7 days, deplorable.

We're pretty much hopeless. You knew even at half time that a Carlton onslaught would beat us, even if only for a quarter. As soon as we lose the lead in any game, it's clear we don't have the talent or mental resolve to take it back.

Cordy must be dropped or played in a different position (like, um, the ruck). Barely even makes a contest up forward. **** this "get 50 games into him" shit - he adds nothing at all and is arguably even a liability. I'd appreciate a sympathiser to explain what purpose this lumbering dud will play in our future.

The sooner the blowtorch is turned onto "Macca" and his non-existent strategic mind, the better. We need a match-day strategist on the coaching panel desperately.

Its evident the coaching staff and board are not up to afl level - another lost generation of bulldog players coming to an end and a fan base that excepts mediocrity at every turn - IF U HAVE ANY GUTS BRENDAN RESIGN - u let the worst coach in afl history outcoach u with a bunch of VFLers. Letting Eade go was such a short sighted decision we will pay for this for the next 5 years!

That's interesting, some would say that calling for a coach who has been in charge for half a season to resign short sighted.

Terrible game of footy tonight. I think its pointless singling out names from games like this. The problem isn't the individuals underperforming, its the inexperience of the group as a whole. They need to develop together as a team, learn each others strengths and weaknesses and things will eventually click. I think we would have held on of Higgins had of stayed on. Kicking for goal killed us in the second half and for this I think Higgins is our best. Great to see Dahlhaus step up.

I liked Williams up forward, he was quiet in parts but is a good size and could develop into a solid contributor up there with a little more experience in front of goals. Liked Pearce's aggression off the ball too, he has a lot of niggle in him surprisingly, I thought he would be a quieter type.

Agree 100 % with everything here.

The chip it around precision game is fine if you're Hawthorn and have the quality to do it.

We do not.

And at the stage of the game where we were doing it, Carlton just lapped it up. It was inevitable that errors would come and they'd make us pay for it.

Even when we dominate the game, we can't kick enough goals because we lead and play in the wrong parts of the ground. Why do we pay our coaching staff to teach our forwrads to kick points? Thats what will happen when you have to take shots from 60-75 degree angles all the time. How about teaching our defnders to run the ball and kick over the lines? The idea is to get the ball to our forwards before the opposition have the chance to get back.

Another successful match. More experience for Dahl, Libba, Wallis, Tutt, Howard and Ayce. Grant and Williams did some nice things. That's all that matters. DJ is a waste of time. Clay and Jones are more deserving of a spot 100 times out of 100. "We'll be too slow with Jones" they say. JONES IS QUICKER than DJ!

However, if we don't pick up Dayle Garlett in the draft this tank is all a waste of time. We NEED his outside pace and good disposal.

Going forwards instead of sideways and backwards would be nice for a change though.

Who are you all blaming this week for the lost, cant blame sherman not playing.

It's bigfooty. When in doubt blame Gia.

Someone was blaming Cross which I think is laughable. He's one player who has a defensive side (unlike the captain) and knows his limitations. Rarely ever stuffs up a kick.

Who are you all blaming this week for the lost, cant blame sherman not playing.

And to be fair on the other recent villain, Howie worked harder tonight. Still had one hideous shirk in the first half but you couldn't fault his work rate tonight.

No, the (perhaps unfair) whipping boy for tonight was sitting behind glass.

Grant played well I thought, laid some tackles, presented a bit, crumbed a couple of goals. So a good sign there.

How badly do we need a couple of players like Yarran who can just grab the ball and take off with it? Our chippy chippy play is a must because we lack linebreakers and guys who can hit targets by foot and until we get them, the only alternative to chippy, chippy is a long kick to a big contest. Either way is not going to get us a lot of goals.

Obviously hoping for more from tutt and howard. We have to play these two, and grant for the rest of the season I think to just ram games into them.

Williams started well and predicatably faded - he has missed a fair chunk of the season, but worth persisting with.

Every time Cross got near the ball disaster quickly followed

That's complete shit, we had heaps of problems, Cross was one of our better players. His marking and work in the hole was great

Why did we wait till 90 seconds left to move Lake forward?? We needed to try and win the game, not save it. Cordy was poor, DJ very poor when subbed on. Gia struggled too

Jarrad Grant chases hard. Tutt tackles very well for someone of his size. Howard took a good mark. Dahl, Wallis and Libba were great.
Where to starting the negatives? DJ was laborious. It sucks that Higgins is injured - he is our only competent forward. Vez was average and may be dropped on that performance... Hopefully he gets a few weeks to save his spot. Pearce doesn't look ready for AFL. Crossy was courageous overhead but unusually sloppy hands cost us goals. That said hopefully he can reinvent himself as a defender.
The biggest con - our gameplan is as ineffective and it is ugly. Take the game on FFS.

Vent. Sorry. This is how I see it.

Murphy & Griffen. I thought I loved you guys. Then tonight you looked like second gamers. Oooh. I'll pass to him. No! I'll pass it back. Yikes!! He's passed back to me!!! Shit! He's passed back to me!!!!!!!!!!! OOOpppps - turnover.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU GUYS BEEN PLAYING FOOTY?????????????????????????????

Too f*&(*&)(g long in my opinion.

Oh, to bring back the REAL leaders of the club - Johnno, Smith etc etc etc

What a fng rabble.

What hope have these young fella's got.

Thank your god you can write Murphy, coz leading in a football side has certainly passed you by.

SORRY, BUT I AM REALLY PISSED OFF WITH THESE OLDER GUYS THAT SHOULD HAVE SHOWED THE YOUNGER ONES HOW TO WIN A GAME OF FOOTY.

ARggggggggggggggggggggggggggh

Id like to see Joho come in for Pearce. Pearce needs a lot more games at willi.

Basically Id like to see anyone who can run and kick being played for the rest of the year to see who can play and who cant.

Perhaps JJ and Panos can get a run next week? I'd like to see what these guys can bring to the team before the seasons out. The season is dead. We may as well play everyone on our list to see what we have.

Disappointing night but at least we didn't get smashed. Though we should have won when looking at the lineups on paper. I always felt that we probably wouldn't be able to hold the Blues off in the second half.

Note to the dumb Carlton fans - holding the ball requires there to be prior opportunity.

5 & 6 mentioned, I thought 4 & 5 as it stands? To be fair I've had a bit to drink, but I know the clubs below us have comp picks, but they are from the club they received the comp pick from...I think 4 & 5 are the best we will get unless the dees somehow finish above us

Still have the worst half backline in league, even with Hargrave gone which helped, but Pearce is miles off it, Gilbee is finished as an AFL player, Ves and Howard are slow developing and Murphy has made more howlers this year than last 4 years combined, Minson led our rebound 50's tonight, WILL ****IN MINSON.

How the hell do you have 40 hitouts extra and only marginally win the clearances, our best and most damaging midfielder had the grand total of 0 clearances for the night.

DJ has played his last game of AFL.

I'm sick of hearing rubbish like this. They just need time to develop...how much time exactly? Three years? Look at Geelong on Friday night, they had 9 players with less than 50 games that's almost half the team and they played like a top 4 side. They have also had 11 debutants this year which is more than any other side bar GWS. So it's clear Geelong doesn't need time to develop so why do we?..Look at teams like Collingwood, Adelaide, Sydney how is it their first and second year players come in and play real solid footy.....they do this because it's expected of them, they play in teams that have winning cultures. We don't have a winning culture so it's ok to play mediocre footy have someone pat you on the back and tell you all will be fine after you play 50 games....what a load of crap!

Alcohol notes this now, 6 & 7 were noted after the last few weeks. Let's just hope a key forward & outside mid are the best available at 5 & 6
