Commentator was correct...hurriken is English/Australian pronunciation. HurriCANE is American like so many other words sneaking in to our lives.

Actooly, neither are correct. The meteorologically phenomenon is actually called a willy willy in Straya.

Think it happens more during the AO. Throughout the year it reverts a bit back to surnames or full names.

All the same thing. Form over warm, tropical oceans and hit island and coastal areas.

A willy willy is a mini-tornado, formed over land.
