Lol you guys still want Johnson gone. He is one of the best performing medium/small forwards this year in the comp and we also have no depth in that area. There is no one to replace him and you still want him gone. Some people have a horrible chip on their shoulder about SJ. Quite pathetic.
Sometimes it isn't a matter of "wanting him gone" - it's a matter of "can he keep going after all we've heard about his back?" So not always a chip on his shoulder. I actually feel sorry for the guy- he certainly is not ready to let go yet and might possibly need to be dragged screaming and kicking to the door when it's time for him to hang up the boots!

cos its just about numbers?

he is deteriorating, the end comes quickly for the elderly, at times he has really struggled

I'd rather see him go out this year rather than play on and retire injured or in the vfl

No, it's not all about figures.
The figures are, however, support for what's readily apparent to the naked eye - namely that he's had a good season, and he's not deteriorating, because his season has even got better as it's gone on, to the extent that he was in our best players last week.

I'd sign Kelly and SJ to contracts that have some deal where they can carry on coaching if they want. GWS seem to do it all the time. SJ is too smart to let him **** off to somewhere else.
Bulldogs did it last year with GIA.He coached as well as played.
He didn't play all the games and most AFL games he did play he was the starting sub.

So what if he isn't as good. He is still an exceptional player. He won't be playing reserves. If he thinks his body is good to go on and his form is as it is currently then we should be welcoming him with open arms. If we are going to have a crack at a flag next year by recruiting, danger, Selwood, Henderson et al then we Definately want to keep Sj as we need small goal kicking forwards desperately.

He looked very proppy early in the year but he has looked fine for the past 12 weeks. He is better than anyone going to know if his body is up for it.

Can we afford to keep all of Bartel, Mackie, SJ, Kelly and Boris if we are landing all of the reported players?
Our cup runneth over! :)

Meanwhile, back at Collingwouldn't...

Oops- looks like it's empty. :(

Stevie must go on.

I heard from his own mouth he wants to play on next year, and the way it was said suggested it will happen even if Geelong don't want him.
Definitely still has the fire in the belly, and still a dangerous match up for the opposition.
He's still a gun for mine, if possibly of a slightly different calibre now than when at the peak of his powers.

I reckon Mackie will get the tap on the shoulder and that seems about right to me.

Not sure about Kelly, could go either way.

Stokesy might not be totally cooked but I reckon they will politely suggest it's time.

Bartel still has plenty of good footy in him, could still have 2 to 3 years ahead in my book.

Boris hopefully goes again, but it's his call.

Mackie is fine. If we get an injury down back we are ****ed so it's important to keep him IMO. SJ's stats are really really good, I'd say the club are just keeping the pressure on him so that he lifts his attitude a bit.

McIntosh, Rivers and Stokes will go IMO…Hartman and Toohey are gone…allow for 2or 3 others to be traded/delisted…will they do a bigger clean out than that??? I doubt it….

I'd keep Kelly…Bartel is a lock….Enright stays if his body can cope with it, and on performance I don't see why not……I'd keep SJ for another season as a permanent forward..

That's a pretty good summary for mine.
What is the latest on Boris? So far, in order of appearance, I think it's been
1. end of 2014: Might be my last season coming up
http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-ne...ll-probably-be-final-one-20150310-13zwjn.html
2. slow start to 2015- rumours abound. Boris lays low and says nothing
3. Boris hits a purple patch in his 299th game. Media report that he may go on for another year.

haven't heard anything since then, I don't think.
