What about last week?

We played consecutive scratch matches against the Suns - that was following our matches against Port & Crows

Don't remember too many positive reviews from either of those scratch matches, or mentions of players pushing for a spot in the senior side

I can't recall seeing a review of the latest Suns match

Think I have my weeks wrong - we did play the Suns in consecutive scratch matches, buy looks like it was following the Saints & Port matches, with nothing last week

That would explain why we heard nothing - hopefully we can get some news sooner than later about yesterday's efforts

Listened to the Obree interview that cats_09 posted and these are some notes from it

Scratch match between WB
16 v 16 80 minutes

  • Fog heap of ball, mid and forward with a few goals
  • Guthrie good down back the most experienced for us “guessing that meant Jenkins didn’t play”
  • Esava good to let him run around and get some confidence back
  • Cockatoo, played more forward than Mid
  • On Evans- been one of the young guys who has impressed the most, soaking info of players like Danger and JSel Got X factor and defiantly a good player down the track
  • Don’t know if we’re even going to have our own VFL team next year, according to Obree it costs a lot of money to run a stand alone VFL side
  • Playing another scratch match this weekend coming then another one the week after and will re access and try and look in some more ASAP

Liked the sound of this....

A MOVE forward in Saturday’s scratch match may help Nakia Cockatoo press his claim to return to Geelong’s AFL side with just three matches to come before finals.
The enigmatic Cat had been playing through the midfield in the practice matches this year but was pushed forward against the Bulldogs to good effect.
Cockatoo is aiming to play his first game at the top level since Round 3, 2018 on Sunday against Essendon.
Head coach Chris Scott hinted that the Dogs game could be the last chance for the 23-year-old to make his case for inclusion before finals, given his lack of recent experience in the AFL.
Geelong VFL coach Shane O’Bree said Cockatoo did himself no harm in a new role.
“He’s been building up, probably the last three games (Cockatoo) has played with no restrictions and has been playing great footy,” O’Bree told K rock.
“He has just been playing as a midfielder and (on Saturday) probably played more forward than midfield. We are just trying him in different positions to get him in super form so he can perform at AFL level.
“He didn’t play a lot of footy for a long time and his body feels good now.”

How nervous would opposition defenders be clearing the ball from our forward line if we had both Cocky and Chucky running around down there?
Could probably add Close to that too after he had a couple of run down tackles on Friday night.

I think there was a good case a 2nd tier league like the VFA would have been great to keep but like everything money stuffed it

You realise if you go back far enough it was the primary comp?

Lets be frank... the acroynm VFL or VFA were both incorrect ... it was more MFL and MFA.

There is a reason why every other club copied us to have a standalone team. Not an area to be cost cutting in.

Apologies if posted, but here's a club write up from the scratch match

& footage

If the Cats don’t have a few long term players in that bunch we will be very very unlucky. DeKoning, Fogarty, Constable, Clark, Etc, surely they spell the future is very rosy at cat land.

Josh Jenkins is an excellent media performer too no matter what you think of him.
