Any danger of the second best league in the country having an offical fixture before the season. Players, coaches, supporters cannot plan around a 'draft' fixture that most haven't seen. Embarrassing!

Seems like clubs have been forced to figure out their own fixture this year... they've been given the matchups from the league and have to figure out the venues and times between themselves. It is definitely what is holding up the fixture and the ever-evolving coronavirus situation means they will hold off as much as possible.

The Women's League had their fixture released a week prior expect it to be a little bit earlier than that but not by far.

Got same response from AFL for 3rd straight week about vfl fixture that fixture is still 1-2 weeks away.
season starts in 37 days. How can this happen and there is no explanation. How are people suppose to organise interstate trips to watch their teams

I understand AFL Clubs will play their AFL Games before their VFL sides play. Expect lots of Sunday night and Monday night footy this season. Could possibly be 1 Sunday night and 2 Monday night games in round 1 which includes a couple of vfl stand alone clubs. Looks like most games will be on Sundays this season.

AFL clubs will be able to choose when the vfl sides play which makes it hard.

I have also heard similar.

Possible days for each club in round one.
  • Footscray: Friday - Sunday (likely to play Carlton on Saturday)
  • Carlton: Friday - Sunday (likely to play Carlton on Saturday)
  • Sydney: Saturday/Sunday
  • Geelong: Saturday/Sunday
  • Collingwood: Saturday Afternoon/Sunday
  • Essendon: Saturday Night/Sunday
  • Brisbane: Saturday Night/Sunday
  • Box Hill: Sunday
  • Gold Coast: Sunday
  • North Melbourne: Sunday Afternoon
  • Richmond: Sunday Night
  • GWS: Sunday Night
  • Sandringham: Monday

Interestingly only two VFL sides match up with each other in the AFL.

Expect the vfl fixture to be announced hopefully by the end of the week it will be who plays who plays who but no venues or times as I previously posted when afl aligned clubs play they get to choose when they play after their AFL team plays, expect them to be announced 1 to 2 weeks in advance

A bit of an updated pre-season schedule for the next few weeks (updated 22nd of February)

There are a few more teams to be in action over March 5th/4th weekend. I think North Melbourne have a game that weekend just waiting for more information to be confirmed.

Important ones for this week are:
  • Essendon vs Footscray at The Hangar after the AFL practice match tomorrow
  • Carlton vs Sandringham at Ikon Park after the AFL practice match on Thursday
  • Northern Bullants and Frankston on Saturday noon.
  • Port Melbourne vs Williamstown on Saturday.

Carlton Reserves are playing a practice match against Sandringham at 1pm at Ikon Park on Thurs 24 Feb, after the Carlton AFL v St Kilda practice match.

Round 1 times and venues plus match ups for whole season now available
Looks like Seven will continue broadcasting but Foxtel/Kayo won't be anymore

Broadcast and streaming: VFL broadcast partner the Seven Network will show a weekly game plus finals, live and free on 7 in Victoria and 7Plus nationally. Fans can catch up from anywhere around the nation on 7plus. All VFL matches in 2022 will be live streamed and available on demand via the AFL website and AFL Live Official App.

That's a great catch. That is disappointing but at least it looks like we will be getting ALL matches this season and still for free.
