A bit of sad news for Frankston today. Club just posted that current board member and life member Donna Rooks has passed away.
She was one of the most out there and fun people ive met. Working the bar shed always have time even when youre busy shed jump in.

The world is a lesser place without her in it. RIP Donna

So what are the Elimination Finals gonna be?

Do Seagulls jump to 7th or 8th?
They are considered 8th as they finished lower than Richmond.
Wk1 Finals are:

QF1 Footscray vs Frankston
QF2 Box Hill vs Southport

EF1 Casey vs Williamstown
EF2 Brisbane vs Richmond

Northern Bullants

AFL will turn their backs as they didn't with Frankston in 2016. It's up to the community to rally behind Preston now.
It’s a little different today, as the players wearing the Blue and Gold are no longer locals.
The same scenario also applies to all other former VFA clubs.
In the past, during the VFA's heyday, it was Our suburb playing against Your suburb.
Today, and I may be corrected, the players in the former VFA clubs and the AFL-aligned clubs aren’t playing for their suburb or their clubs but for themselves, hoping to earn a guernsey with an AFL team.
It’s no longer suburbs competing against each other; instead, it feels like nothing—it’s empty—and therefore, there’s little interest from the locals.

Predictions.

Brisbane to defeat Richmond by 15 points
The Lions will go in favourite as the higher seed and the HGA. Despite the Tigers winning their only meeting during the regular season at home by 22 points, the Lions have the experience and class to get over the line here. While the Lions have only won 2.5 games from their previous five matches, their losses were against quality opposition in the WB and Casey while they drew against another quality team in Frankston.

Footscray to defeat Frankston by 37 points
Frankston looking to win their first final since 2008 (not counting last year's Wild Card round). Footscray are riding an 11 game win streak and the minor premiers have now been strengthened with the addition of Adam Treloar to boost their premiership chances. In their previous meeting at Kinetic Oval in round 12, Footscray won by 17 points. Footscray delivered a polished four-quarter performance, dominating through pressure and ball use, with key contributions from Caleb Poulter (3 goals), Harvey Gallagher (3 goals), Will Lewis (2), Ryan Gardner (2), and others. Midfielders Riley Garcia (39 disposals) and Cooper Craig‑Peters (30 disposals) had standout performances.

Box Hill to defeat Southport by 13 points
MOTY. Box Hill won their previous meeting six weeks ago by 44 points after a huge final quarter. That victory was made all the more impressive given it was on the road. There's not much separating these teams despite their previous encounter being a blowout.

Casey to defeat Williamstown by 42 points
Casey enter this match on a five match winning streak while Williamstown have rebounded with a couple of wins after a four game losing streak. The gulf between these two teams is quite large and I'm expecting a comprehensive victory for Casey here. These two teams haven't yet played each other in 2025.

I get where you're coming from with your Frankston prediction but I think we're a very different team to the one that played Footscray in Round 12. The truth is that the first half of our season was a polar opposite to our second half. We had George Grey and Tyson Milne out injured for large chunks of the year, while our new recruits weren't quite gelling with the returning players in my opinion. Since our trip to Coburg we've looked like a completely different team. Ellison and Gown have become extremely dangerous up forward, and we've potentially found a new main ruckman in Harrison Coe. Form-wise we're right up there at the moment, we went up against a stacked Collingwood side and won convincingly. The only thing against us right now is that we still have a few players injured. Blake O'Leary's season is finished due to his injury sustained against North Melbourne, and Trent Mynott is out for at least a couple of weeks (so his season could be done depending on how far we go in the finals.)

I'm not about to get arrogant and expect a win, but I think we're a real chance.

Frankston havent beaten Footscray since entering a VFL team in 2014...

But this game has real Geelong v Freo 2013 QF vibes about it

Haha please.

I expected Freo would beat Geelong in 2013. A few people talk about it being a big upset but I didn't see it that way.

I jumped on the Hawks v Freo bandwagon at about round 15 after being convinced by Mark Fine those are the two best teams in it and the Grand Final would be contested by them. He provided an extremely good explanation with sound logic as to why Hawks v Freo will face off in the Grand Final. He sounded very convincing.

Within minutes, an SEN listener called into Mark Fine's program and echoed those same thoughts. More sound logic. It just made sense.

For the next 12 weeks, I explained to anyone who cared to listen why Hawthorn & Freo would be your two Grand Finalists. I even told my Sportsbet account who were happy to listen and accept my $9 GF Quinella at the start of July.

The Dockers on paper outclassed an aging Geelong and had recent form against them which convinced me if the two met in finals, Freo would beat them yet again.

There is no way Frankston of 2025 are the Freo of 2013. You're missing many elements before you even consider that a reasonable comparison, one of them being that Freo beat Geelong in a final in 2012. They had form in that area, something Frankston does not have.

Frankston out in straight sets I'm afraid. They are unlucky to be coming up against the two formed teams of the competition in consecutive weeks.

I agree with the last paragraph

Thanks for the lengthy explanation but this is the VFL forum. Not a forum to discuss a review of the 2013 AFL season.
