So Miller is staying in Melbourne? That's a bit concerning if we can't retain a key player and member of the leadership group despite him staying in Victoria (rather than returning home to WA).
Some of those clubs can pay more than VFL clubs , Montrose have recruited 2 VFL players , 1 on 60k and the other on 40k the local salary caps are a joke

Good get by Werribee. Hopefully a few more to come.
Kellett was stiff, was a regular top up with the Bulldogs but with a few AFL listed players returning from injury, including Adam Treloar, he lost his spot, not due to form, but due to the fact AFL clubs will always use their listed players rather than top ups. Was only 2-3 top ups in the Dogs VFL premiership team, one of them being the captain. Didn't qualify for WFNL finals either and missed a Werribee Districts flag too. Wouldn't have been happy.

I get they’re trying to build a list but… 95!? For a club that fields one team?

I think you’ve gotta be a bit more selective with who you invite down, having a million people on the track actually makes it just as likely you’ll miss a gem that’s out there as find one.

You’d want at least 30 of them gone in a week.

And they will , it's a great opportunity for a club to not have to put up with false promises from an AFL club

Pretty standard. Generally cut to about 60 around Christmas then finalise in February

Yeah this is fairly common practice for VFL teams I believe. Open sessions with large groups that get trimmed before the Christmas break. If anything I think it's a good thing that Sandringham are getting a group of that size to begin with. Shows that there's interest in playing there.

Aligns with what VFL clubs did with their Under 19s back in the day.
Start with 100-120 at the first session and whittle them down over the summer.
I don't see any major problems with doing it this way.

The great Port Melbourne sides under Norm Brown never started training until January

This came out of the blue. Good get by the saints. Just when the bees were building up a good playing list for 2026, they gotta spend more time and energy to find a suitable replacement. Got no idea what sort of coach they'll be trying to get.

They'll find a decent replacement

Werribee is a fantastic club in a good position, both with recruits and their off field stuff. They'll have no worries finding a high end candidate.

Its finally official. Excellent signing.

Another premiership player has called time on his VFL career. Loved watching him play. That's the sad reality of the VFL, play 100 games and become life member of that club.

Bior Malual hanging up the boots for Werribee comes as a surprise. Thought he’d still have a few seasons at least left in him. Not many left from the 2024 premiership side.

Thats the nature of the part time state league environment, once you know you're not getting drafted, played 100 games or played in a premiership, its time to cash in at local!

Another notable loss for Frankston. Justin Davies will be heading to Cheltenham full-time.
