VFL 2026

Frankston may have lost another handy player in Harrison Jones. Announced as a Mt Eliza recruit yesterday and it seems he'll be there full-time.

Not panic time yet but our drawing power as a destination club may be put to the test this offseason.
Im counting Voss and Blamires as outs, fully expecting both to be drafted.

Massive losses for Dolphins. Need some kids to step up

Speaking of signings, all the hard work my impotent football club in targeted recruits has fallen to the way side.

Oskar Smartt is off the East Perth
Will Hoare and now Matt Foley are off to Coburg
Jordan Busutill off to Weribee

Discerning our inability to attract and retain VFL quality players
Good signings for Coburg

If Voss and Blamires go in addition to our confirmed departures, we're going to be set for a difficult year unless Jackson can pull off some miracle recruiting (not ruling out the possibility either, he took us to finals in 2024 with a list that everyone said was worse than the previous year.)

Frankstons 2025 success will see good players come, while others already there will be hungrier to step up.

Jimmy Miller is also departing Port Melbourne. Don't know where he's going, but he's originally from WA. He's another big loss, especially with AJ Kuol Mun leaving as well, and his departure makes it all the more important that we find both a ruck and a really good key forward (ideally one who can be a backup ruck as well like Miller).

Gotten confirmation tonight that Harrison Jones isn't going to Mt Eliza full-time. Their announcement post was a bit misleading.

It literally says in the post that he is Frankston VFL listed
Didn't explicitly say that he would be VFL-listed in 2026. Clubs don't normally make that big a deal of VFL-listed players who'll only play a couple of games so I wasn't sure if it was just mentioning his previous VFL career.

Obviously a big Frankston Nuffield but my AFL club's VFL list has been pillaged already

Will Hoare and Matt Foley are off to Coburg. Both MASSIVE gets. Foley I was hoping we would explore cat b listing him similarly to what Brisbane did with 22 year old Bruce Reville.

James Busutil is off to Weribee

Oskar Smartt after his AFL delisting has signed for two years at East Fremantle in the WAFL.

Couple of local footballers have signed but no one of note

Bussitil played like 3 games and barely looked VFL standard.

Montmerency

Okay. What does he do that doesn't make him VFL standard.
He's a winger/half forward who struggles to find the ball and be dangerous when entering forward 50. He had a good game against Sandy, I'll give him that but there's a reason he barely played before the AFL list had 1000 injuries.

Take away that last game (a clear outlier) and he averages 12.2 touches, 1.8 marks and 2.9 tackles a game. It's not a VFL signing that I'm losing sleep over. He might build on that Sandy performance and make it at VFL level but I personally don't see it.

Hoare is a loss, he's a good VFL level key defender, and Foley can play but half back is a role that you can fill relaticely easily, especially since guys like Zak Johnson, Jayden Nguyen, Jaxon Prior are all chances of playing more VFL than AFL next year.

Fair enough. Maybe thats not his preffered position as a wing/half fwd? Hes actually an inside midfielder.

Kornberg is a really good coach-frankston will be a attractive destination club for young players in particular.
