I have a feeling this was the VFL club's strategy from the start when they said they wanted the VAFA club to use the ground. Basically an endorsement of the other club as the successor/continuation of their own club without explicitly saying it.An official merger would saddle the VAFA club with the VFA/L club's debts. Pretty sure that's one reason they're not going that route. Looks like the idea/hope is for the VAFA club to be regarded as a sort of spiritual successor without legally merging the two entities.
