Good work.

You have overcooked Cloke for AFL, though. Has only played 6, not 7. And you've under-cooked him for VFL (has played 5, not 4).

Seems whatever we do Cloke can't take a trick ;)

Changes after last nights 2 wins against Carlton. Sorry Preston, but Carlton killed your club and it sounds better to win twice against them.

Witts, Gault - now eligible having played 6 VFL games

Grundy - now ineligible having played 13 AFL games

Reid, Sidebottom, Maynard, Howe, Moore, Sinclair, Smith, Cox, Varcoe, Brown, Aish, Cloke - now provisionally ineligible having played AFL after R15 and yet to reach 6 VFL games. All of these players can play more than 12 AFL games.

Goldsack - now provisionally ineligible having played AFL after R15 and yet to reach 6 VFL. Cannot play more than 12 AFL games.

Losing Aish,Brown,Goldsack and Cloke really hurt our Chances to do much in the VFL Finals:'(

You're assuming we don't get some or all of those blokes back...

Our VFL back line is solid, but they're all quality so if they don't end up qualifying it would.

Goldsack - largely depends on how long Marsh is out for and if he comes straight back in. I'd expect Goldsack to play VFL again this year and given he only needs 2 VFL to qualify he's one we should get back.

Aish, Cloke - for the good of the club and player I hope both cement their spot in the senior 22. It's unlikely Cloke would play VFL finals anyway and good AFL form would be better for both.

Brown - like Cloke I think it's unlikely he'd play VFL finals even if he qualifies. If Brown maintains his form Frost continues to play VFL. While it's possible both play the 13 AFL games that would make them ineligible my sense is one of Brown or Frost will qualify for VFL finals.

With 7 AFL and 6 VFL games remaining, we see the following changes after this weekend's matches.

Langdon - now can't play more than 12 AFL matches, however due to injury he's unlikely for VFL finals

Goldsack and Broomhead - are now both only 1 VFL game short of qualifying. Given Goldsack's omission for Marsh it's pretty safe to say he'll qualify.

Crocker and Frost- also now only VFL 1 game short of qualifying, however both can play more than 12 AFL matches. Pending Fasolo's fitness we should see Crocker qualify next week.

Reid, Sidebottom, Maynard, Howe - now ineligible having played 13 AFL games

Fasolo and White - now provisionally ineligible have played AFL after R15

With 6 AFL games and 5 VFL remaining we have a heap of changes with players confirming their eligibility or ineligibility (none of these were ever likely to play VFL finals)

Moore- now ineligible having played 13 AFL games

Fasolo, Adams, Sinclair, Varcoe- now ineligible having played AFL after R15, with only 5 VFL matches left they cannot play 6 VFL games

Goldsack, Crocker, Broomhead - now eligible

Others:

Frost - has now played 6 VFL games, but is just 3 games short of more than 12 AFL games. The form of Brown, Reid and Marsh should see him qualify

Toovey - I see both Williams and Oxley ahead of him for a senior recall, so it’s unlikely he’ll play 13 AFL games. Now just 1 VFL game short of eliminating the AFL after R15 ineligibility clause.

Oxley - A chance Oxley or Williams comes in for Smith in the coming weeks, so there’s a chance he plays the 3 AFL games that would make him ineligible. Like Toovey now just 1 VFL game short of eliminating the AFL after R15 ineligibility clause.

Williams - now cannot play more than 12 AFL games, but needs to chalk up 2 more VFL games to qualify having played AFL in R15. Would have him slightly ahead of Oxley for a senior recall. At least one of Oxley or Williams will qualify, but there’s a fair chance both will.

Cox - hasn’t played VFL since R2, but it’s possible the form of our other forwards will see him fall short of 13 AFL games. Will need to play 4 of the last 5 VFL games to qualify though, no footy for the past fortnight hurts here.

Aish - last nights form should see him hold his AFL spot for a couple of weeks. Currently provisionally ineligible, but could still go either way, 4/6 AFL games = confirmed ineligible, 2/5 VFL games = eligible

White, Brown, Cloke - all showing good AFL form and likely to play more than 12 AFL games in the coming weeks

Smith - needs just 1 AFL game to be ineligible, even if he’s given a rest in the coming weeks he’ll play seniors again before the year’s out

So Frost,Toovey and Cox are the Most Likely to be Eligable for VFL Finals

Cox needs to get his arse on the field instead of entertaining guests! Disgrace!!

Come on TG. There are about 350 million Americans. How often would one get to not only meet, but to host their Vice President? Its a once in a lifetime opportunity for Mason, and I think the club did the right thing in allowing him to miss a game. These guys are not robots. Sure, missing the VFL game will not help his football, but allowing him to do this will pay off in spades in terms of media coverage, with the Pies front and centre (as Eddie would say). Hell, we even managed to upstage Carlton and WC at their own match! I think its fantastic.

TG, this discussion has the potential to go around in circles. How does Mason not playing in the VFL today affect our chances of winning the flag?
He needs to play a certain amount of games to qualify for finals. He has now missed a few in a row. It could potentially cost us a VFL flag with him sitting today out.

OK, fair comment. I had assumed that Mason had already played enough VFL games to qualify.
