I'm tipping Port to cause some trouble in this finals series, especially playing all finals at our much preferred home base. Very curious - have the Magpies ever actually played at North Port since their re-entry into the comp? Hopefully will be a good game!

I'm a bit hazy on the AFL Reserves side rules - please tell me Essendon can't just wholesale play its AFL side in our finals to try and stick it up the AFL by claiming a premiership?

In the first we they can use the VFL as usual. beyond that there are limits, have to have played at least 1 game, and 6 games if you played in the AFL since july 1.

So this week Essendon could play the team that beat Carlton in the VFL. That won't happen as they wouldn't have enough fit players to fill the AFL team. I'm thinking any players that have 5 VFL games may be dropped back this week to qualify.

Not 100% on the eligibility for the Dons senior list to play VFL, but would hope that they dont dump all their senior players into the VFL squad.

Should have some integrity left but I doubt it.....

Essendon are out of the VFL finals

Semi Finals at North Port Oval
Saturday
Williamstown v Port Melbourne - winner plays Geelong at North Port Oval the following week.

Sunday
Casey v Werribee - winners plays Box Hill Hawks at North Port Oval the following week.

Grand Final is on Sunday 22nd September at Etihad Stadium.

Willy v Port should be interesting as one would think that each team will throw everyting and the kitchen sink at the other.... the smoldering rubble of this game will then have to play a rested Geelong the following week. A daunting task to say the least.... On the other side Casey v Werribee could go either way with an upset of Box Hill the next week a real possibility. Which ever way these games pan out, I an certainly looking forward to watching them.
