Swanz, I just don't want to read again how great the VFL was and how shit the AFL is. The true fact is, during the 80's a lot of the Victorian clubs were in financial trouble and if it wasn't for these interstate clubs comming into the comp and paying a 4 million dollar entry fee a lot of these Victorian clubs would not be around today.

At first I dismissed this topic as just another dumb troll, but now that I think about it I am nostalgic for the 'glory' days of the SANFL and who cares about the VFL.
These days big money is ruining Aussie Rules. When the Packer/Murdoch consortium takes over the TV rights this will only get worse. The vampires will well and truly be in charge of the blood bank...

Actually i guess that im one of the few Victorians who reckon footy's never been better since we expanded and added teams from other states, new rivalries, better exposure in RL dominated states etc etc. It has been sad to see the demise of a side such as Fitzroy and i guess i might feel differently if i was one of their supporters. But overall it had to become the AFL to prosper.
