Wow, pablo!! You're happy to just write off his season already! Maybe we could wait to see what the story is with his condition?! He might well be available again in a few weeks time. You need a season-ending injury/illness to put someone on the Inactive List, and once they're there they can't play at any level for the rest of the season.

I'm not a DeMattia fan, and I don't think many people rate his chances of making it, but they won't be ending his season this early (just so we can pick someone up in the MSD, which is still a couple of months away), unless the news on his condition is quite grim!

So JUST DON'T DO IT!

HDM IMO has zero chance of making it in the AFL ..I hate hine for not taking logan morris over this bloke .

I heard that Dekka said on a recent podcast that he was overruled on selecting Morris.
Found that interesting - was that Wrighty & Fly?

We'd all love to have Morris on our list, and if DeMattia wasn't on it he wouldn't be missed! Hine really did seem to have an aversion to recruiting tall prospects, but fortunately we've brought in a few likely looking types in recent drafts and things now seem promising in that area again.

DeMattia is contracted until the end of 2027, so he's not going anywhere soon. Someone at the club thought enough of him to extend his contract by two years a couple of years back. Like it or not, he'll be given every chance to make a name for himself!

What really 'grinds my gears' is seeing people seemingly so willing to write off a player's season/career at the hint of a long-term injury, just so we can have a mid-season draft pick! No matter what the fans think of them or their prospects of making it, the club won't effectively be saying to them "we don't rate you and don't want you to try to get fit enough to play again, we just want you to take it easy for the rest of the year so we can pick someone in the mid-year draft"!! They won't be doing that. In this case, it seems Harry will be playing again in a week or so. Hopefully he does well.

Now we will be able to have a MSD pick anyway, thanks to the very unfortunate injury to Reef McInnes. Hopefully we choose wisely, and find another good young prospect, someone who can develop and be on the list for quite a few years. If you were calling the shots we'd probably be getting Teakle, a middle-aged list clogger who is currently playing at the level he's best suited to!

I think you can promote any time of the year as long as you have a list spot.

I presume he turns 19 this year.

The Mahoney brothers came from Mansfield (so did Josh Fraser years ago), so we do have quite a connection there!
