Port registered their first win for the season in front of a small crowd, holding on to win by just 4 points, in a goal-for-goal last quarter.
After a 7 to 3 goal third quarter from the Borough, Port led Geelong by 9 points into the final break.
The Cats had looked the better side in the first half, moving the ball cleanly during their forward pushes while the Borough squandered chances with fumbles at centre breaks being siezed by Geelong's midfield.
The Cats had a chance to steal the game deep into time on, but a spoil/mark from Tom Hooker saved what would have been a heart-breaking defeat into a thrilling victory.
Steven Lawrence was taken from the field after a heavy clash of bodies but was able to return and managed to kick 4 important goals.
