saw some of this game on the afl app seamed hard to get anything going.
was hard footy.
sure a case of tight footy.
tight and hard.
hard to get any chains going at all.

He’s one of our best runners and kicks into the forward 50.
He’s also our softest player whose lack of commitment to the contest was extremely noticeable during the 2023 finals series (especially grand final). All players have pros and cons. I don’t doubt his ability to run all day and perform when there’s little pressure. I just value Titch’s toughness and clearance ability in finals, as seen when he was our second BOG on GF day. I’m backing him to work himself into that form again.

Mitchell replaces one type.
An inside mid.
We're not gonna move magnets around just to fit him in. If someone isn't performing in that area of the ground, and he is, then fair play, but atm his position is Long's.

Its something we don't have to worry about for at least a couple weeks. When or if he gets back in, time will decide. But I don't think we can play both.

He's not coming in anytime soon. Still needs match conditioning based on yesterday's game.

I agree with you that it's either Mitchell or Long.

However, in 23 we played both Adams and Mitchell, with both of them having spells at HF. So it is possible to play more than one inside mid if you want. But I don't see us sacrificing a small forward to fit in a second inside mid.

We did, until it was realised how poor mitchell was at HF and Adams was better. But agree, I can't see what forward he would replace.
If a spot opens up and he is dominating then we'll see what happens. But we're travelling well atm. Long just makes us so much better.

We won't be sacrificing anyone to fit in Mitchell. This is a useless conversation. About a bloke who's not in good form yet. It could change depending on injuries but otherwise he looks miles off atm. I'm happy to see how the season pans out

Mitchell is finished. 50% because he is getting older/slower, and more importantly 50% because he has been surpassed by a quicker, more powerful, more effective 22 year old. Great problem to have.

Where did Steele play?
Haven’t seen anything, but saw a few comments on his style fitting us.

Sullivan style quality - next man up and will play a role to a level expected?
Or more than that with a pre-season?

I'm not saying Mitchell won't play, I was just going on a full strength side. Finals are a different ball game though and I'm sure a fully fit Mitchell would be hard to overlook. I'm really just going by where things sit right now

He'll still have the smarts and those fantastic hands, but I think there's a fine line with Titch. Doesn't need to have lost much power to not be able to get the ball away when on the inside and just get wrapped up in a tackle every time he gets it - he doesn't have the evasive tricks of Sidey and Pendles or the kicking to play somewhere other than inside like they do.

He looks a fair bit quicker than Sully, so a bit more scope I think.

Only his second game and was prob our best player. Good user of the ball, seems to make good decisions. 3 shots on goal in a low scoring affair. Should have ended with 2 goals. Looks like a handy player atm.
