Essendon and Richmond meet in a clash that is simply put vital for the Dons to bounce back into form, having lost 2 of their last 3 games and having one last chance to beat a fellow top 4 side before finals having lost all three so far, and Richmond hoping to finish off their home and away season with a win having secured top spot with 4 wins in the past 5 games. In terms of the head to head between these two sides, Richmond have had the major advantage winning 4 out of the past 5 games between the two sides.

Essendon are coming of an embarrassing defeat at the hands of fellow top 4 hopeful Footscray, losing by 94 points which makes Essendon's bid for second spot very doubtful with the Scrays having two of the bottom 3 in their last two games. Brayden Ham was a feature with 22 disposals in a bid to return to senior football, whilst young ruck Riley Bowman continued to toil against a more experienced opponent, still getting 30 hit outs.

Richmond had a 44 point win against Preston to secure top spot, kicking 11 goals to 3 before half time to put the game to bed before taking the foot off the gas to cruise to an easy victory. Jacob Townsend and Jake Aarts were prominent in the middle with 51 disposals and 6 goals between the pair whilst key forward Callum Moore kicked 4 goals in a dominant display inside 50.

Richmond have the best form of anyone in the VFL whilst the Dons are struggling with the weight of injuries. Tigers by 25. Possible side:

If McKenna and Aylett play it would greatly assist. Also Myers back would obviously make a big improvement to the onball effort.
But yes, even with more of the VFL team fit and firing, I wouldn't expect us to be good enough to beat Richmond.

Margaret & D.Clarke not named in reserves so one or both must be travelling to Perth. McNeice & Begley the other senior emergencies.
Team looks decent but no Gown..??
