Believe in Harrison and Parker.

McInnes, Jiath, HDM, Allan and Ryan are probably all set to be delisted in the coming years.

Good luck to HDM as he pursues his cricket career.
I thin Parker does, but we're not exactly instilling a lot of confidence with selection.

Harrison - I think the jury is still out.

Reef, Jiath, HDM, Allan and Ryan are gone. Don't see any improvement or desire to compete and offer something of value in any of them.

The article was produced by a club writer who would have been told to PROMOTE talent and ensure fans feel optimistic about the future. Often this falls to a very young staff member.

Save the critical analysis for Swoop, Pies Footy, etc.
I guess that's why I have stopped reading these 'club' articles. Promoting doesn't have to be disingenuous - that's the club's choice. And it's a cheap choice to take, given people have access to video footage.

This type of 'marketing' strategy works short term, but disrespects it's fan base long term, once people realise they are being conned.

IMV - modern days require honesty. Seems like the club's marketing department has a very OUTDATED mentality - which doesn't work in 2026. People are too aware and BS averse.

First: We have had access to high end draft talent, especially in 2020 - when we completely messed it up.

17 Oliver Henry

19 Fin Macrae

23 Reef McInnes

30 Caleb Poulter

31 Jordan McMahon

We could have drafted: Max Holmes, Jake Bowey, Josh Treacy, Sam Berry, Errol Goulden, Shannon Neale and we didn't land ONE.

Second: If Ed Allen was the ONLY isolated incident - okay. But he isn't. There's the early picks in the 2020 draft I listed. There's (25) Harry DeMattia and (37) Tew Jiath in the 2023 draft which look like anything but AFL footballers.
BTW, (31) Logan Morris was picked up by Brisbane in 2023.

Third: It's our own fault we chose to give away Ginnivan and Noble for nothing and chose to trade away 2 - 1st Round Picks and 2 - 2nd Round picks.
We brought in Schultz and Houston who are collectively older, take up more salary cap space, and IMV offer no significant upside on the traded duo.

2 of those 4 early selection were in the 2024 "Super Draft" - which we forfeited.

IMV - drafting, trading and list management has been run like an amateur operation with no forward planning.
I'm curious to know how we could have drafted Errol Gulden when he was in the Swans academy and there was no chance they wouldn't take him.

We never know what instructions the players are under.

For example: it was Reef’s first full game back from a knee reco. Fair chance he was told “just take it easy, go at 80%”. The club are probably wrapped that he got through the game OK, but there are fans will criticize his performance and tip he’ll get delisted.

I think you just proved your point. Our "high" picks have started from pick 17 which is almost the last pick of round 1 in an uncompromised draft. And then you're talking about our other "high" picks in the 20s and 30s lol.

Our issue has been GW trading out guys like Grundy, Ginnivan and Henry for SFA whilst paying a F1 and second rounder for the likes of Schultz. Anytime we've traded out a F1 unless it's for a proven star has generally been bad.

I know it’s cold consolation, but we did win the 2023 Premiership?

This crap again - give it a rest.
Especially as you’ve been humbled with responses challenging this narrative.

The afl 2020 draft is by far the worst draft I've ever seen. There are only a handful of players that actually are afl worthy
Apparently we should have gotten all of them ...

Our VFL side actually looks so weak. West Harrison parker and Buller are the only ones I can see that might be worthy of playing afl football

Ryan Reef TJ and Cochrane might make it aswell however they really need to pull there fingers out. With Cochrane only being a 2nd year player hopefully he can.

Howes, smit Allan and sully are delists. I might be a bit harsh on sully however he is 28 and only a depth player.

8 out of 12 is pretty damn good, I would have thought. 🥴 particularly when you also include Oscar, Angry, Steele, Hayes who are getting consecutive/regular games.

If West, Harrison, Parker, Buller, Oscar, Angry, Steele, Hayes become best 23 players, that's a success imo.

How many times are you going to bring up all this? It’s been done to death. We know
Yes; but he is right. Moreover such recognition places higher expectations on our recruiting staff & list management staff going forward. As the biggest club in Australia, we should all be expecting & demanding higher standards & criteria when it comes to all recruitment decisions. OK. We can't be making the same mistakes repeatedly. Goodnight & good luck.

Collingwood's recruitment and development departments did undergo a major overhaul following the 2024 season.

Add in Swadling, who looks a player
Thats before you even add in Saxena who looks exciting, and mccarthy who will be given time to develop
