On the game, I'm keen to see Parker tried in a variety of positions, because he can play, but i'm not sure he gets in playing half back unless IQ gets injured or something. Hayes exciting moments, but happy for him to bide his time until he builds an AFL physique.

One thing we know for sure and that is that he's ready. He was scary good before they took him off
A 19 year old kid shouldn't be outboding bigger opponents. What he is doing at his age in his position is crazy. I think he has surprised everyone how quickly he is impacting.

Left foot snap from west in goal square scramble. One thing I like about Hayes is he releases the ball by hand to runners unhesitatingly. There are some ball hungry players out there who try to do too much themselves and dont do the simple things

I think that's the best I've seen Will Hayes look. I'm surprised he had just 15 disposals (still a reasonable amount), as it seemed like more to me. I'd be happy to see him get a senior game soon enough, but he may have to wait a bit. Harry DeMattia's second half was rather impressive - it's probably the first time he's actually looked like he might have something to offer. They might have found a spot for him, so hopefully he goes on with it.

We still haven't seen our star VFL recruit Curtis Taylor - it will be handy to have him come into the side one of these days.

9 score involvements from 15 touches is elite (4 more than the next player). Obviously you have to factor the opposition but don’t worry about the disposal count as in his role that was a huge effort.

Cochran, Hayes and West have such strong AFL attributes. Odds are against all of them finding a role at AFL level but I get more excited with each game.

It would be mighty funny and amazing if we happened to have nailed 3 picks in the 40-50s last yet and get cheap access to AFL level talent this year with our NGA crop right at the time we’re getting criticised for our ageing list.

That game ended up being a hell of a lot better than predicted in my mid week rant, West and Mitchell played, watched Ali with interest and Cochran was back..... Exciting!

A lot of ticks across the board as you would expect with such a dominant performance.

As already mentioned previously numerous times on BF, last years draft intake looks top notch, impressive!

Was Parker possessed today, it was like a different footballer, brilliant!

Pleased for DeMattia, it's the first time I've noticed his Vic Country skills transfer up to the next level....

Be even funnier if we win the flag this year.

Pfoofer valves going off everywhere. :p

Imagine him after 2-3 Pre-Seaons

I didn't see the whole game, but from what I saw Hayes seemed to have plenty of it, and that's why I was surprised he only had 15 disposals. I actually thought he would debut quite early on this year, but then he seemed to go off the boil a bit. He was very impressive today, and I certainly wouldn't mind if he was to get a senior game reasonably soon. I'm not sure that will happen, but if they keep resting older types he might get a chance.

Cochran, Hayes and West do all look like they could be winners for us; that would represent a huge result from the one draft, and help us stay in contention for some time to come!

BTW where did you get the score involvement stats from?

Yeah, there's no hurry on Parker, and half back seems to be his comfort zone for now, but if Jaicos ever returns to the wing, (I live in hope) he might get more games.

General question to those watching these games: does TJ need to change his kicking style next preseason?

They're wrong though. Score involvements are way down. Charlie West kicked 4 goals 2, handball one more, not sure about any more but it says only 4 score involvements...

Saw that on West and thought it was odd but only an issue for him. Wonder who does the data entry for the VFL.
