With a fab sunny day and a gentle breeze slightly favoring the left goal from the stand ,we witnessed a similar game to the one against the pies last week. Not sure why we have trouble with third qts ? but it does happen often with the tiges, only this time we had a bigger lead at half time, and held our advantage to the finish. Considering we were beaten out of the centre 85% of the game, and their leg speed was far better than ours! we stuck to our game plan and outsmarted them at the stoppages, ''this was a good win''. I fully agree with the nominated 'best' players but would like to praise two 'underestimated' players one 'young' and the other a 'warrior'. Firstly, how hard he ''tackled'' and threw his body 'at' and 'hit' his opponents like a 'sledge hammer' when the game was turning caseys way''' Morrow''' was superb!!! so is his leadership under pressure, and talks positively and realigns the team,'constantly'. As mentioned on this thread, SHOULD be captain of this team for the next 3 years if 'HE' wants it. Secondly, a young man very rarely beaten, follows the team game plan under the pressure of the back line, and can kick a long ball to 'advantage' , 'Garth' is quietly going about his 'apprenticeship' very nicely right at this time? and knowing he has put on at least 8 ks during this season on his 'upper torso', his leg speed suffered for a while but is now on the improve at the right time[finals] These 43 listed RFC players are forming two fantastic and close bonding teams [afl] [vfl] that play' FOR' each other when things get tough!!! And isn't it showing!!! GO TIGERS 2017

Garths first half was very good and he did run out of puff in the second half , but he seemed to have got his mojo back this game . He's tracking nicely.
Personally I disagree with Morris staying on unless he wants to do it as it's a big come down for him to constantly play at the second level without any hope of progressing. Yes his courage and aggression was supreme today , but his skills are still atrocious.
Chol was horrid again apart from two good marks and is a liability at this stage of the season. I still think we had one tall too many and Silverstein must play. The cool dude Jess in the interchange said they're hiding Derek Smith for bigger and better things , but did hint that he may get a gig . Stengle and Bolton made me very excited again and are two classy individuals and yet again proved my point of going too heavy with dinosaurs in the forward line is unnecessary in the modern era. Stand out tall of the day was Moore again with his contested marking at both ends of the ground. Conca appeared to have copped a bad gash to his left leg early and wasn't going on all cylinders for the day. Lennon's shoulder was a mess and felt sorry for him when he ran back on the ground to test it out.
Batchelor played like a pauper who won 1000 at the casino and thought he was a millionaire. Really made some poor attempts to spoil or mark easy balls. Started their third quarte run with an undisciplined one hand attempt to mark. He'd be lucky to get us a pick around 80. Miles also looked injured late , but played well as usual. Second rounder easily for him based on what clubs were splashing around last year. Bro reckons Lennon will stay considering he's young and weve invested so much into him , plus there are Elton Morris Morris Hunt Miles and Batchelor ready to go first. So possibly two more years of him on a pittance much to my disgust. Ellis is showing better signs in the drier conditions, but his motor is still putting slowly. Needs to work harder in the preseason. Lloyd needs to stay another year as he has some serious tools and is actually quality depth. I was impressed with
Markov and Short. Short gave us so much run and drive and was a class above. Hampson and Soldo pottered around all day doing some good things , but Spencer best them on the day.
Menadue was in and out doing one good thing for one bad thing.
Still not physically strong enough around the contests and missing tackles , but has improved on where he was last year. As you say we have a good list to work with and a few tweaks need to be made.

think he hurt his arm pretty badly early and went in the rooms to get it checked. Is normally far more reliable down back in the 3 other games i've seen.

Miles will not be around next year at AFL level because he is slow. Casey's midfielders early especially left him standing as they smashed us early. All quarter I watched as he (and others) chased but was no where near it. Maynard (Casey) was on another level all day. Worked his way back and played a good game, but the pace of AFL is like the first Q vs Casey all game, and shows why they don't play Miles. Maybe the same with C.Ellis, but he has class and is quicker. Lennon will not be picked up (if put up for trade) for much the same reason, but is such a good footballer and with his size needs to stay and train with the mids and lose 5kg's and become a gut runner. Only hope. We need to draft another tall back, because we don't have any back-up as nobody at VFL level is near the standard.

Woeful? He had a few fumbles but I would bet anything his pressure point rating was the highest on the ground.

Mate he had no disposal to half time despite touching the ball physically five time (fumbles). He's not a reliable shot & has zero composure.

The game plan is the same in the 2's as the 1s so I'm surprised we have gone into two finals so tall. Hampson and Soldo give nothing at ground level or up forward. The fact that we have had poor 2nd half in both finals probably due to being too top heavy.
Great to hear about Moore.

Castagna was woeful.
I thought he was going to cost us the game in the first half.

I thought Broad had him well and truly covered in that area in the first half.

To his credit he was much better in the second half.

My half time anxiety was focused squarely at Broad. Don't like having either in the side to be honest.

Yes he is exactly the same as he always is tough as nails but not very good at actual footy

Yep.. Have to agree... Morris is a very good VFL player and in fact would make a good captain of our reserves team with the no compromise attitude he brings..... However sadly he is not an AFL player.. Lacks talent and smarts at the elite level, my belief is he's aware of this and tries to make up for it with overt aggression when in the seniors he then gives away many free kicks and kills momentum
Tough as nails only gets you so far

I think some of our depth players are increasing their trade value this year

Miles,Lloyd,Lennon,Batchelor,Griffiths are all having a great final's series and showing abit

Hope other teams are watching and we get some decent trades for our fringe players

2nd Rounders for Miles,Batchelor & Lloyd would be sensational
If we win the flag(seniors) its amazing how players are looked at differently.

Frustrating last 45 minutes, however, great win. Two prelims. We haven't seen both teams in prelims since 1982 or before?

Would be a great role for Morris next year -VFL captain. Maybe combined with a minor coaching gig so the club could pay him something. AFL days are definitely finished, not sure how he got picked earlier in the year.

Was it the McLellan shield they used to play for? Most wins across all the grades?

Pretty sure it started with a Mc.lol.But yeah.At the time i didn't think much of it as we were a powerhouse club at the time and i was guilty of taking things for granted.

hopefully garth is a late bloomer and grows a few cms
Even if he doesn't I still think he has the tools to make it. Watching 2 games yesterday Rampy (189 cm) and Tom Clurey (192cm) were able to play on genuine kpf sized opponents and do a good job.
