The Victoria Football League have selected the following players in the 2008 State Squad, for the State League match against the SANFL at Adeladie Oval on Saturday 31st May.

Geelong -Matthew Firman, James Byrne

Bendigo Bombers -Hayden Skipworth

Box Hill Hawks -Steve Kenna, Alister Neville

Casey Scorpions -James Wall, Andrew McQualter

Coburg Tigers - Jarrod Silvester, Tristan Cartledge

Collingwood -Liam Jurrah, Danny Nicholls

Frankston -Justin Berry

North Ballarat -Brett Goodes, Orren Stephenson, Tom Roach, Michael Searl, Jacob Spolding

Northern Bullants -Adam Iacobucci

Port Melbourne -John Baird, Cory McGrath, Robin Nahas

Only 2 cats players named despite winning the VFL premiership last season. The final list of 24 players will train at TEAC Oval, Port Melbourne on Tuesday 27th and Thursday 29th May, commencing at 6.00pm. Congratulations to James and Matt!

Great effort really, considering these guys have to live in the shadow of the AFL guys and lose their spot if there's no injuries.

I'm surprised someone like a Jay Cheep, Chris Urie or Jack Hollmer didn't quite get a look in.
